>Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is set to lead Prime Video's Blade Runner 2099, which will serve as a sequel to both Ridley Scott's original and Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049.
>The first plot details for the show have also found their way online (via Daniel Richtman), and the brief synopsis outlines the basic premise of the sci-fi spin-off series.
>As previously rumored, the show will be female-led, with Cora (possibly a former Blade Runner) joining forces with a Replicant named Olwen (Yeoh).
>"In Los Angeles 2099, Cora lived her entire life on the run, a chameleon forced to adopt numerous identities. To secure a stable future for her brother, she assumes one final identity and is forced to partner with Olwen, a Replicant who’s confronting the end of her life. The two are pulled into a widening conspiracy that poses an existential threat to a city that’s fighting to be reborn."

BR black lotus anime already had a female lead. Was pretty good too.
>Olwen
Ol wench
I'm so fricking tired. I could deal with a female lead, that'd be fine but why couldn't she just be white.
Michelle Yeoh is a good actress with decades of work behind her. She's not even American and is above your identity politics.
Maybe it was just bad direction, but I thought she was awful in EE.
Surprised they're doing another.
Blade Runner flopped.
Blade Runner 2049 flopped.
Somehow they keep trying when people clearly aren't interested in this franchise.
Its not about profits you low IQ moron
Is that right?
It is about profits, though. ESG is a way for big firms like blackrock to sucker people and 401ks, etc into investing into shitty companies - driving the price up, then Blackrock sells for a huge profit
You should study how the Federal Reserve system operates.
unless she's actually skinjob too it makes more sense for the character to be a insectoid
/tv mammon worshipping conservaBlack folk cannot comprehend an ideology that doesn't put fiat currency first
Men like it. And taking male leads away from franchises adored by men is what they do in order to demoralize. Which all western media is about.
The majority of dystopian films flop because normies aren't into them. Probably because they can't handle them. Which is ironic because we are pretty much in the world now or we are getting there at an astonishing rate and normies and especially the left side of politics are bringing it in, especially since COVID and their jabs. Pathetic fricks.
NOOOOOOO A WOMAN NOOOOOO!! WHY GOD WHY!!??
>actress…BUT ASIAN!
Why can't they just cast a attractive white woman?
Would you rather have two female leads or an attractive white female lead and her black love interest?
I choose 2 cute female leads. Blade Runner Academy when
>two female leads
This is this "muh replicant resistance" 2049 narrowly dodged becoming that I really didn't want it to become
They’re going to go continue the troony Denis replicant BLM stuff aren’t they?
>two women talking
Will they ever showcase what the original movies showed, that Los Angeles in 1997 would be overtaken by a massive wave of Chinese immigrants, destroying whatever social fabric was left? No, instead they'll show the "heroes" destroying the social fabric themselves.
No because that was a particularly 80s fear, due to the fast rise of Japan. Everyone thought asian countries would take over. Of course then the Japanese economy went tonshit and never really recovered and people were left with just the asian aesthetic.
I always thought there was a lot of opportunity for stories in the blade runner world outside of the Deckard story. Shame they’ll just go for the trans-metaphor with it though.
>Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is set to lead
i would expect crouching tiger, hidden dragon is more famous than any of these
No one has seen that boomer movie
What could possibly wrong go?
Gonna assume this will be even less cyberpunk than 2049, especially because old women are not convincing cyberpunk protagonists in the first place. They're already inherently depressing creatures who are on their way out: there's nothing for society to really do to them that feels like a real loss.
there is no blade runner 2099, you fricking moron jeet "journalist"
>Cora lived her entire life on the run, a chameleon forced to adopt numerous identities
yikes
>Ridley is a pathetic hack
News at 11
Ridley has nothing to do with it you troglodyte
>series
who cares
every single long running sci-fi story (fantasy too) ends up with women taking charge and solving everything.
I thought it was a recent thing but after reading a lot of "classic" books from 1950-2000, I realise this is the norm.
I always liked her martial arts films & she deserves recognition for her long career, it's a shame it took slop to get western media to fawn over her. If it actually focused on her as an aging woman and drew parallels to replicant lifespans, purpose, meaning of it all, etc etc it could be good.
>"In Los Angeles 2099, Cora lived her entire life on the run, a chameleon forced to adopt numerous identities.
In other words a generic female action hero with a generic backstory and generic motivations, the type of cookie cutter character that soulless corporations like Amazon, Disney, and Netflix put into every single movie and TV show they do.
>the show will be female-led,
>2 previous Blade Runner movies bomb
> "hey I've got an idea for success"
Can't wait, I hope it cost $300 million to make
>female lead
It's sad how this makes me instantly lose any interest in the film. I don't want to dislike leading women, but experience has trained me to.
>2099
That's too abstractly distant in the future
>female lead
I mean, on the one hand Ghost in the Shell has a female lead and it's amazingly good cyberpunk action. But we already saw Hollywood's spin on Ghost in the shell, and it was complete fricking garbage.
Yeoh is fine
The problem is the showrunner is a woman
>Goose bogged
>Ford gone senile
>Old asian foid as MC
Blade Runnerbros… its so over
God I never wanted to see them make a franchise about Blade Runner. Frick that dumb sequel too, there is literally no reason for it to exist. I hate Hollywood so much, hope this show gets cancelled
SHE CAN'T EVEN FRICKING SPEAK!
Get Ming Na Wen at least she can act and is nice on the eyes.
>Ming Na Wen
>born 1963
At rather they cast the blue haired hapa from the latest Matrix.
Or Sonoya Mizuno.
>SHE CAN'T EVEN FRICKING SPEAK!
She can speak with fluid American accent, but moronic producers actually want her to keep the cringe accent. It happened on the set of Star Trek: Discovery, among others.
was Everything Everywhere All At Once really that good to justify how hard a push they're giving this woman?
Bruh
>FEMALE LED-
dear god frick off
let it die in peace, i dont want blade runner further tarnished than the blemish that was 2049 slop
