>What's a femcel movie?
For the purpose of this chart: movies grounded in realism where the main or a major character is an awkward/disturbed single woman. Usually too fricked up to function in normal/polite society, going from bad to worse as the movie progresses. Her desires (for a partner, love, or otherwise reciprocal feelings of desire) clash with her overall personality/nature, typically with disastrous results. Attempts to improve her lot are fruitless and more often than not met with rejection, incomprehension, misunderstanding, or outright hostility. While there may be underlying psychological, familial, or societal issues involved, the femcel is usually so adept at sabotaging her own life (intentionally or not) that some form of authority or easily identified mental illness doesn't have to come into play.

Movies about depressed/mentally ill women. Movies about scheming/evil/psychopathic women. Movies about "empty sex". Movies about women not finding the right partner. Rape and revenge. Movies about "driven"/ambitious females vying for celebrity or career promotions. Movies where outsiderdom is mainly communicated through subcultural attributes, like fashion or hobbies, or general "quirkiness". Movies about minorities (ethnic, sexual) being negatively impacted by bigotry/repression.
These are of course not set in stone, and if done correctly a femcel movie can incorporate any number of the above without losing too much of its "femcel factor". You get the basic gestalt.

Femcel is referring to romantically celibate as opposed to sexually celibate. Femcels can have, and often do have lots of, sex with men but they struggle to find an attractive man that's willing to marry them and start a family. A lot of their gripes are about being pumped and dumped, only used for their bodies by men.
