This saved my life. I broke my laptop screen and can't afford the repair currently. So I use a PC screen plugged to my laptop with HDMI.
But I have to put the whole setup on my bed.
So I'm just watching kinos and workling on my bed. And can't lay on my bed the usual way I lay on the side and leave my feet hanging while sleeping.
I have the cheapest TCL you can buy and it runs everything perfectly this is a solved problem in 2024 I used to make my own media center PCs back in the late 2000s till now
>Smart tvs run the aps like shit.
brother i fricking hate smart tv's with a passion
and you're right
can't believe how pozzed modern tv's are
Exactly. Why would I want bloatware, paid subscription apps, and microphones when all I need is a screen to plug into my laptop and gain a second monitor to play my torrents and streams.
Why is Cinemaphile so fricking tech literate? Smart TVs are terrible compared to a dedicated computer.
what is the best laptop to do this with and how long can the cable be?
Get a mini PC.
wait what seriously?
No.
I got completely filtered by the fact that my computer might be too old to connect to my new tv. The aspect ratio cannot be output to my tv completely so the movies and shows I try to watch are too small on my tv. Its watchable but it sucks Cinemaphile 🙁
Just change the settings in the graphics card settings like Nvidia control panel or Radeon Catalyst. Otherwise you just need to change the settings on your TV.
>Listen and save everything you say with the micro >Watch and sace everything you do with the camera >Can be easly hacked to acess your network >Shitty uncomplete setting
I rather use vlc and a hdmi cable
>Is there apparently some new way to play torrented movies on a TV? Or do anti-HDMiggers even know what I'm talking about?
yeah, plex, hardrives, flashdrives, smart cast
>Is there apparently some new way to play torrented movies on a TV?
there's lots of ways you dumb monkey
[...] >yeah, plex, hardrives, flashdrives, smart cast
there's more than that.
There should be a USB port in the back. You can play directly from it. But I couldn't figure out a way to make the subtitles work.
I use a projector so unfortunately HDMI is still the only way >smartcast has a considerable delay/visual artifacting issues >problem compounded if streaming media from a server
I tried, because I wanted a totally wireless setup, I really did

Smart TV's a fricking shit!
I'm not paying a single extra cent towards that crap.
What I want is a great big screen with two HDMI ports and that's it. On/off button and a source button.
Frick speakers too
it's just connected to my main PC >win + P, third screen only >LG C3 lights up >turn on wireless headphones, wireless kb+trackpad >get on elliptical machine >effortlessly burn 800 cals fully immersed
i consume all my kino like this now
>"smart" tv >interfacing with a tv remote >slow processing power >always tracking you >ads everywhere >extremely bloated >can't modify it
You are a low IQ Black person.
For me it's: >shitty laptop with HDMI cable >Arch Linux >qbittorrent >torrentleech >nyaa >Jellyfin >mpv >yt-dlp >ublock origin >SponsorBlock >Librewolf >wireless keyboard and mouse
>what is the best laptop to do this with and how long can the cable be?
don't do this. only poor stupid people do this. the rest of us use media shares now.
there is no link. you just share video from your PC over SMB or ZFS anywhere in your house over your router and stream it to your TV. no cables needed.
>watching movies on a laptop with a side monitor plugged in the HDMI out
Holy shit, I didn't know Cinemaphile was this bad. Let me guess, your skin is a frothy brown color, you watch marvel movies, and sleep on a bare matress?
I got completely filtered by the fact that my computer might be too old to connect to my new tv. The aspect ratio cannot be output to my tv completely so the movies and shows I try to watch are too small on my tv. Its watchable but it sucks Cinemaphile 🙁
>I got completely filtered by the fact that my computer might be too old to connect to my new tv.
just buy a used laptop on ebay
i do this every time I need a laptop when my older one breaks. it's cheap.
>laptop >doesn't have a dedicated plex server
Good luck getting to second base mister, I got to third base last night and I barely even download new torrents
Top zozzle. My desk is in the living room of my apartment and my 65" 4K tv is hooked up as a second monitor. I literally just fire up the movie in VLC, drag the window over to the TV, and then double click to go fullscreen.
I picked up one of those cheapo $20 tiny wireless keyboard/touchpad combo devices so I can pause/rewind/whatever from my couch.
> But what do you do if you bring a girl home after a date and she wants to watch a movie?
>Open tv >Go to web browser >Type "Watch Kino for free" >Try to click on close ad, get redirected to spam page >Press back >Rinse and repeat till it works
You can always tell someone is average at best if what constitutes a girl getting "the ick" and no longer wanting to suck your dick is something as fickle as your entertainment setup. Attractive people don't have to worry about shit like only having $17 for dinner, or plugging their laptop into the TV and getting rejected for it. Literally just doesn't happen.
for me it's Apple TV with infuse

>piss bottles
literally me
How could you have a job and not be able to afford a new laptop are you indian or what
I don't even have a tv anymore, just two desktop monitors and a large hard drive.
>I don't even have a tv anymore, just two desktop monitors and a large hard drive.
based
>HDMI Cable
>HDMI Cable
>caring about what women think
Not me, not ever.
This became obsolete when every single tv you can buy is a smart TV. There is zero reason to do this anymore.
Smart tvs run the aps like shit.
My TV supports screencasting, so I can still do laptop mirroring without a cable.
I have the cheapest TCL you can buy and it runs everything perfectly this is a solved problem in 2024 I used to make my own media center PCs back in the late 2000s till now
are you just using streaming services or are you running Plex or what?
>Smart tvs run the aps like shit.
The cheaper ones yes but you should always buy a box instead so you can replace it instead of depending on the TV
>Smart tvs run the aps like shit.

I'm browsing Cinemaphile on my laptop that is connected to my tv through an HDMI cable.

you're stupid and nowhere near as tech savy as you think
See
See
oh cool your smart tv lets you watch any new show from any subscription service for free?
>smart TV.
There is zero reason to ever buy a smart TV, though. Why are people replacing TVs? Did you fall for the OLED meme?
Just gonna use the old tvs I have hahahahaHAHAHAHA

link for your share?
there is no link. you just share video from your PC over SMB or ZFS anywhere in your house over your router and stream it to your TV. no cables needed.
i have no idea what you just said. and i'm not trying to do something stupid like that.
i'll refer to my other post and you can move on.
msi
Any laptop with a HDMI output works.
didn't you know Cinemaphile is full of chads that make six figures and frick a new girl every night.
even poor people stopped doing things like HDMI to their TV because its so cheap to do everything using your existing PC and router.
if you are the same person.
you are implying I have 24/7 internet or network access.
stop it. you have no idea what you are talking about.
How brown are you?
>cheap 4K TV
>5 year old laptop
>4 TB hard drive
>HDMI cable
>wireless keyboard/mouse combo
I don’t need anything else.
Just needs a slight improvement
Why would you hook up your laptop to your tv?
They have screens already on them.
A bigger screen that you don't have to look down at.
I just put movies on a USB stick and connect it to my TV
this homie live in 2007 and honestly theres nothing wrong with that
I'm just used to it
like i said theres nothing wrong with the direct route.
>I just put movies on a USB stick and connect it to my TV
how tiresome.
Lazy duck
Tried this years, and it didn't support all video formats. HDMI cable to laptop works perfectly.
Yeah it has problems with mkv
Dont forget if tv has coaxial connected it can fry your pc.
wait what seriously?
Can you hear the pajeet customer service cackling in this thread?
?
>fmovies
>xbox with internet browser
This is how you win.
pc is better. I hate no ad block on xbox.
meh

plex for me
I've been doing that for 10 years
>copy movie to usb stick
>plug in TV
>play
???
too much work
Won't work with .mkv
My Roku TV plays MKVs, but I don't think you can change audio tracks.
>mkv
Doesn't work on my smart tv
>laptop
>doesn't have a dedicated plex server

Lol, where do you think we are right now?
>My desk is in the living room of my apartment
sad
jellyfin is better
>he pays for Amazon Prime, Netflix, AppleTV, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, Peawiener and Paramount+
FINNER
modern smart tv's have built in piracy detection that will mute the audio if you try and play it directly off a USB
Why would you do this stupid shit? All you need is a smart TV and Netflix
>play pirated kino on my Apple Macintosh™ computer
>AirPlay™ it to my Apple™ TV™
It Just Works®
i unironically do this tho
>Open tv
>Go to web browser
>Type "Watch Kino for free"
>Try to click on close ad, get redirected to spam page
>Press back
>Rinse and repeat till it works
more like filters sex havers

ngmi
My thinkpad doesn't have HDMI
The level of tech illiteracy on display in this thread is nauseating. So these are the "people" I share a board with.
>literally undecipherable tech to normies
I only do this if I'm gonna goon in the living room
>17 hours old thread
Cinemaphile is a slow board now?
