Finally got around to watching this. Any thoughts? I find it alright, I don't think it'll last pass the two initial seasons though
Finally got around to watching this. Any thoughts? I find it alright, I don't think it'll last pass the two initial seasons though
Not as bad as was expected. Nowhere near as good as it could be.
Snipple's animation was surprisingly good.
When it wasn't being choppy
Do you suppose it's the fault of bad in-betweening? The layouts in themselves seem to be pretty good.
I think so yeah.
I suppose it's the fault of no budget and low effort. Same problem with all modern cartoons.
Whoever animated said scenes probably just sucked at it. The Snipple animators seemed to have a better pipeline compared to the French animators, and I've seen a guy who posted some scenes he animated, and they were quite good. But seriously, the layouts are not "pretty good." I swear they keep reusing the same poses and faces over and over in most of the scenes, and the expressions are just bad.
Yeah, pretty much this. It's unoffensive, lacked jokes, but what jokes it did have got a chuckle out of me.
>Looniversity has TWO Fifi la Fumes.
>but what jokes it did have got a chuckle out of me.
You must have insanely low standards for comedy.
Duck Dodgers/TLTS hatred puritan seething levels
If you hate it that much leave and go back to Hazbin or Bittersweet Bowl generals
Kek what is this triggered seethe post? Sorry no one likes this rebbot reboot.
You know what a chuckle is? Not a full on laugh.
>YWN bang two Fifis at once
Why live
First thing is switching them to twins was one of the most WTF, braindead decisions a show has ever made and basically killed online interest in this entirely.
Beyond that, it isn't bad. The setting and characters have great potential for a lot of scenarios and is more consistent now, it's based they made them 18 so no more b***hing about porn, the show is way more sincere in its approach and doesn't have bitterness compared to Animaniacs, the characters are likable and I don't want to kill any of them (even Sweetie is way better then I thought she'd be). Main issue is the writing has no bite, is so substandard and tame in gearing towards younger audiences you cannot get any interest out of it.
If they had the writing more adult it would be a far better show, now it's a perfectly fine show that you don't think about in any way once you finish it. Doesn't shit the bed hard but missed its potential.
wow
I'd say it didn't totally shit the bed, but there's some definite dingleberries sticking to the sheets. As bad as Velma? No. But still one of the worst toons in recent years, made all the more embarrassing by its pedigree.
He's right.
>The setting and characters have great potential
Potential that I feel hasn't been reached yet. I'm disappointed that Shirley has practically no relevance anymore, and I'm still not sold on her new role. There isn't enough variety in focus on different characters and also no callbacks at all. I understand its supposed to be a completely re-imagined reboot but they really don't seem to appreciate fans of the older show, it's a shame. At least they arent actively shitting on them like animaniacs did
It's nice they brought everyone back and don't shit on them, they should be used more though even if it's still early in the show. Backing cast might be better then the mains.
Also it feels more like the people running this are big fans of the original Looney Tunes shorts with the level of reference and cameo they fit in more then Tiny Toons itself
It’s backwards that the 1990 series meant for 7 year olds has more bite to it than the college-set reboot. They don’t even have pseudo-therapy moments to hook current animation adults. (except for Shirley’s sensory deprivation tank) They’re making a show for a target audience on a whiteboard, not for themselves, and that must suck to have to do.
Now that you mention it that's why the show feels so scatterbrained
>Babs and Sweetie meant to be the woman audience clinging to their memories of girl power distorted through feminism
>Hampton and Shirley the plot of coming of age adult finding his stride in the world with a therapist's help under the shadow of his mother
>Buster and Plucky the bromance of your average joe slacker and tryhard getting into shenanigans and just trying to pass classes
They all just step on each other's toes and often conflict. Too silly to be a drama and just a smidge too serious for comedy
>Beyond that, it isn't bad.
No, its bad. Bad writing, character design, animation, writing, voice acting. Only decent thing are the music scores.
>First thing is switching them to twins was one of the most WTF, braindead decisions a show has ever made and basically killed online interest in this entirely.
i honestly think it did the opposite. i think the implications of retconning them as twins was nothing short of meme gold and drove people in out of bile fascination.
Maybe if they announced it a month before the series debuted but it happened a year before so people just ignored it
I like all of them surprisingly
I didn't end up flatly disliking anyone. It's not their fault the show brings them down.
The incest jokes were the only draw and even that wasn't enough it seems to Cinemaphile to care.
>The incest jokes were the only draw and even that wasn't enough it seems to Cinemaphile to care.
When the show dropped it did get several 500 post threads, but alot of it was talking about how bad the show was, how good the old show was, and of course lewdlustful posting towards the girls. Hell not even drawgays were that interested in it and that really says something. If they doodled anything it was of the old designs. Now that its all over (until season 2) there isnt much to say, its a mid reboot. It didn't inject any life into the franchise.
Animanics got alot of threads here because people were really hyped, it was always more popular than TTA. It was such a disappointment people were rage posting most of the time. And how spitefully it ended really left a sour taste in everyones mouth. All that reboot effort, and for what? Sounds like all the crew hated working on it.
>towards the girls
Yeah no there was gay hornyposting too
Even after all of this Buster is still the bottom
Would.
Which thread was that from?
I'd say go to the archived version of this thread on tbh and hit "View Same" to find the original but thats impossible now because of compression issues. Search the image dimensions in tbh instead.
>did as you said
>leads to only here
Cool. Really going to drive me up the wall with this compression thing. I don't even save images from Cinemaphile now.
Welp, someone must have resized it
>Really going to drive me up the wall with this compression thing.

Anon was not kidding, Buster does feel gay as frick
Which is nice, he's pretty charming
Of course they'll never acknowledge it though
How can he be gay if he's plowing his relation of a sister, Babs?
It's one of those ones where someone working on the show will confirm it shortly after it airs with something like "of course he's gay, he slept with his clone!"
And going by changes from leaks they probably intended it to be directly confirmed but online discourse forced them to censor it. It's too obvious.
Buster is so cute
It's just very confused. It wants to appeal to jostalgua by having as many returning characters as possible, but nearly all of those characters act and sound totally different from their original counterparts, defeating the entire point. It wants to aim for an older audience with the college setting, but feels sanitized and juvenile. It's just so aimless that ends up having a Loonatics Unleashed tier identity crisis.
Who is the show for? They act like kids even way more compared to the original but they're adults in college. Its also way more tame compared to the original. And I think its set in the mid 2000's where they use old tech most kids these days never even saw before.
It’s a reboot that exists just to be a reboot, and 10 years late at that. It’s not the worst show they could’ve made, but that actually makes it less forgivable.
The original was always immature
It's hideous. Awful direction, terrible style (why one fricking line weight for everything?), way more interested in being gay and sappy than being funny
Haven't seen it yet. The twin thing and some of the acting I've heard killed my interest. I can't muster enough energy to watch anything beyond a YouTube clip or two, and even those disappoint me. As a Babsgay, how is she in this show?
You're exactly like me. The incest thing really killed any interest. Given how the Animaniacs reboot went, my hopes were not high at all. I watched some clips, Babs sounded horrible voice acting wise. And she simple was not Babs. Nothing zany. No impressions. The actress can't act the way Tress could. Just a boring ass character. I don't know if I will ever watch the series, like you I can't muster up the energy to waste my time on something I'll just rage over in the end and be disappointed with.
Is this artist lurking?
Yep, what ya wish?
You have drawn some of the most impressive TTA art I have seen, often times pretty on model. I was wondering if you'd consider this: https://litter.catbox.moe/ey3h7d.png
sfw or nsfw, I am ok with both.
nta buthow about babs just in a bikini that and thats it?
Cool then.
nice
You’ve done Babs and Fifi in the vhs style. Now how about Shirley or Rhubella?
tms styled rhubella would be nice, since we never got it for reals
Care to delve into what Looniversity isn't doing that TMS did?
I know the finish is shitty digital, and a lot of the expressions suck ass, but this
feels like a TMS pose but falls flat.
And I don't think it's the symmetry, as this psoe also has that problem (worse since Babs is also a Bunny) but there's little differences that help them stand out from eachother that cancels out that problem I would think
I think that guy only draws the girls.
babs bunny is close enough
here it is in higher quality
Look at the movement and expression in this one frame, look at that FLOW. This new show could never compete with that classic Jap cel animation.
Can you go into detail on what this "flow" is?
No, I am not qualified enough. Its just a term I used. Sorry. It just looks nice, appealing to the eye. In both character design and movement. Excellent lively poses.
The only good this reboot could do is generating enough interest to finally release the Defenders of the Universe game. It was completed, so it's not like there's a ton of work to do.
What does that have to do with anything?
I just think it'd be cool if to see the unreleased Tiny Toons game get officially put out. That's me grasping at straws to find anything good this reboot could produce.
Whaaaaaat, unreleased game? I had no idea this was a thing. How come they never released it?
>ps2
Seems kinda ...weird, TTA was an old property by then.
They made a TTA gameboy advance game around the same time. Not sure why Defenders of the Universe never got released. It was completed, rated, etc. and just never game out. They even brought back Charlie Adler to play Buster.
Huh, interesting.
I got the suspicion that this game wasnt originally meant to be a Tiny Toons game, what gives me that vibe is the music, sounds generic and "placeholdy"
They released Animaniacs games as late as the DS. I think the companies making them got licenses that lasted a decade longer than the shows were expected to run, so scrambled during their last years to bank on any relevance they had left.
This game is pretty damn fun and it's like 99% complete. You can emulate it right now. I'm pretty sure all the original voice actors are there except Hamton RIP. I still can't unlock Fifi even though I beat the game like 5 times with different characters and got the good ending
The gameplay mechanics are a clone of the ones in an earlier release by Treasure: Rakugaki Showtime. The game is basically Rakugaki Showtime turned into an adventure game and given a Tiny Toons skin. The scoring system, level layout, pacing, palette swapped enemies, huge cast of unlockable characters, "evil empire" theme, etc. all feel incredibly Treasure-like, moreso than one would expect from a licensed title. It might have been a re-skinned version of a Rakugaki sequel that was early in development, but I think that they just cribbed elements from Tiny Toons that fit their development style and used them to put a spin on one of their earlier games.
It is mundane in such a way that it is uniquely bad among bad shows, which can often be enjoyed on some level by masochists. I can't derive any fun from describing any specifics of its badness.
If we gave it the benefit of completely ignoring the existence of the original, this show still has nothing going for it. I can't recommend it in whole or in part. There's no good animation to sell it to animation fans. The writing and humor are not sharp enough for people who like comedies. There's no engaging relationship to please shippers of either persuasion. I can't even imagine how gay people, which this show was ostensibly made for, could enjoy it. I can't pretend to know what they like, I'm just certain there are far superior existing options.
Well said.
Exces wonder why people start groaning when we hear the words "reboot" at this point. Because we know its gonna suck.
>There's no engaging relationship to please shippers of either persuasion. I can't even imagine how gay people, which this show was ostensibly made for, could enjoy it.
You didn't like Pluster or Swabs?
It's weird, I feel like it's a lot more about being in a school than the original, except now that I think back, I can't actually remember too much about the old show to say if school played as much a part.
The original was almost never in school and it was the shittest plot point, half the time they don't even step foot on campus for an entire episode
Plucky/Buster is such a good ship and I need to write about Plucky abusing Buster
Statistically Babs and Sweetie are the abusive couple.
Since they're lesbians? Yes
But they are more the type that will do abusive shit equally to each other, Plucky is more the type to abuse Buster and he takes it since he doesn't want to be lonely
>he takes it since he doesn't want to be lonely
Literally me. Luckily Buster has other options.
True, he'll eventually find his way to dating Hamton
>Is the canon girl in their relationship
But consider.
They work far better then you'd think
He should dom there too, make her fake strong punk girl image melt under the meek guy
He's already halfway there. I mean look at that decisive grip on her shoulder. That's no feminist ally hover hand. She may be colorblind but Sweetie craves pork with her pizza.
Poochie ruined it for me.
I liked her well enough when not with Babs
>two gay BFFs
Horrible face expressions.
It's "toony" bro
Its like they are trying to make up for the animation shortcomings everywhere else, with these grotesque face expressions.
>No Marcia centric episode
Martian persecution is real.
My fricking god this dude was only banned for one day are you shitting me
Also Famicom spammed and straight up lied that Studio Mir was doing X-Men'97, they're not, they have nothing to do with X-Men'97 as Snipple is doing the animation for all the episodes of X-Men-97.
Wtf are you talking about
Yeah I too am blind bro. The speech patterns are exactly the same.
No they're not.
Yes they are and go frick yourself, there's a ghost post in the archive that's written exactly like this post
What?
Someone on Cinemaphile shared the same IP address as
What does this have to do with what I was talking about?
You can tell this show failed when there is barely art of it on e621, This show gave us Buster & Babs mom and she only has 2 pics on there
I can tell there's quite a few people making porn of it (or reuploading it) who have never seen the reboot and only the original. Common mistakes like
>Labeling it as TTA only and not TTL
>Using tags like "young"
>Making comments like "you can barely notice they are twins in the show right it isn't obvious"
>Making Buster insanely straight
>Writing them like the TTA versions (which I don't blame em)
Yep. It also didn't do much to revive art from the old series either. New artists dont care much, older artists who were a fan of the original were put off my the reboot, so they didnt bother.
Artists only chase bandwagons, what they're paid to do, or what their more popular friends tell them to do
I don’t even think a god-tier show would have brought the original fans back. They are all in their 50s now with careers and kids 30 years past the original so they wouldn’t really care
New artists sure, but not the OGs. The legacy here is there’s no more moralgayging for lewding the now 18 year olds with only slight variations (mostly with Babs and Shirley, but for Buster it’s as small as not giving him gloves and for Fifi it’s basically no changes)
I think 30s and 40s with younger kids is a more correct answer.
If the reboot has happened 10-15 years ago I think it would have helped older fans get back into it.
>The legacy here is there’s no more moralgayging for lewding the now 18 year olds with only slight variations
All that shit is so stupid to begin with. If you wanna draw porn, just do it. Its fictional.
I think best era would have been early 2000s but around TLTS would have been the last time to get some of them (and this would have been edgier so it would have been a better show then now)
>I think best era would have been early 2000s
Remember the show was barley ten years old at that point, so the nostalgia factor was not in full swing.
>but around TLTS would have been the last time to get some of them
Yeah, TTA and Animanics both should have been rebooted a long time ago. The humor in Animanics reboot sucked so bad.
When are they releasing new episodes? Isn't there supposed to be a two-part spring break special coming up?
I didn't know this came out. Why can't I stream the original show anywhere?
What do you mean anon?
This IS the original show.
No one is trying to rewrite or erase history, that would be crazy!
That boomer crap is over
Better question: why haven't you pirated the old show? Streaming is for new, temporary crap. KEEP the higher quality old stuff.
unrelated: anyone know where I can find scans of the TTA comics from the 90s? can only find stuff in French on internet archive, or magazine digests
Odd that I find Looniversity Buster hotter
Don’t know if it’s because of the young adult age, or the lack of gloves (which I always found hotter than him with gloves), or being more scrawny and far more homosexual. Because he isn’t a better character then TTA Buster but he’s more attractive
My daughter wasn't in there. I skimmed through each episode and was disappointed. She was in the intro but she never actually showed up.
This technically means WBD can be sued in California for false advertising in a trailer, if they've ever streamed it on Youtube.
Who will win the Busterbowl?
He deserves a loving man
You're right, Buster does deserve a man. The answer should be obvious.
You already know who that man is
>I say I say Buster have you ever been in an Albanian prison?
And so the post came to pass of saving a compressed compromising the chain of preservation.
>compromising the chain of preservation.
It royally sucks if you are someone that goes diving in the archives alot.
Heh
Sandusky?
Montana Max seemed pretty down
Vinnie if they ever include him
Vinnie is always hot with him
Wile when it isn't Buster's ass
It was honestly the only redeeming part of Buster being paired with the professors.
Thread proving me right when I say Buster has always been the most shippable character in the series
He's very popular with the guys
Who drew that? Asking for a friend.
>TTL has terrible anima-
This clip you posted is good but it doesn't make the rest look any better.
Uh oh, sorry bud but i dont do scooba fetsih stuff
I'm bit confused, I guess you posted before clicking the link?
Unfortunate, but I figure I'd shoot my shot. Thanks for the answer.
Is it one of those things you'd only do if money was exchanged for a commission?
Nope, i just dont draw NSFW for now, and not weird fetish stuff.
Okay. I would have been fine with sfw, but I guess you find the subject matter a bit odd. Thanks for your time.
Bust Her
Surely.
NO RELATION!
Let’s hope not, it’s a children’s show.
Reboot says: frick the original, lets make em bro and sis!
Dunno if that drawgay is coming back but one last bump I guess.
see i dunno if he took it and will post it later or if they working on it now and coming back
>file name
coy way of saying you are also taking?
I had am unfortunate setback that i had to take care off, sorry everybody.
It's alright. Will you still be drawing the requests given eventually?
Even if thread dies, i will post it on my twitter. Mex0n37
Twitter forces you to a log in screen, if you don't have an account. Plus, they are bad for compressing images after a certain size I think, bad for JPGs iirc. You could post them on the /toon/ thread in trash, if one is up.
S1 TTA was pretty shit then it got good later on maybe we'll see this get slightly better too as time goes on
Stop lying to yourself anon. Unless they make drastic and costly changes and amp up the production budget, its just going to be more of the sam old corny crap.
That’s an exaggeration. It was 65 episodes that they had to complete in less than 18 months, so a lot of them came out mediocre. But some of them rank among the best of the rest of the series and can be better than the best of Animaniacs.
terrible
Buns
Looniversity characters ranked on dominance with each other in bed
Babs > Plucky >>>>> Hampton > Sweetie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Buster
