>terrible writing
>terrible acting
>generic digital cinematography
>goofy looking zoomer troony cast with no charisma and no character to give a shit about
>completely predictable and formulaic
>everything is CGI
>when it's not referencing the other Evil Dead movies it's ripping off Resident Evil 2

I don't know what's worse between it and the Netflix Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Both feel like horrible fan projects that completely miss the mark of what they're supposed to be emulating. It looks like it made them plenty of money, so I can understand why Sam Raimi and Rob Tappert signed off on it, but I wish they would have more integrity about this shit.

    >Davies portrayed one of the main characters, the teenage boy Danny, in Evil Dead Rise, the 2023 instalment of the Evil Dead franchise.[3]
    >Davies was born 27 November 2001 and grew up as female Morgan Linda Davies and grew up in Sydney's suburb Rozelle with a single mother.[2] He first came out as a transgender to his mother and close friends at the age of 13 and came out publicly in 2020
I knew there wasn't something right about the character. You can always sniff out a troony.

I’m fricking dumb. I thought Danny was supposed to be a girl the whole movie and that Danny/Dan was short for Danielle because she was a tomboy/lesbian or like how some women go by Alex or Chris. I didn’t know they were supposed to be a male character.

it's basically a take off from shit like The Thing thoughie

I saw a lot of Resident Evil 2 in the movie. The main protag and little girl were basically Claire Redfield and Sherry Birkin. The mom going after the little girl was William Birkin hunting Sherry to infect her. The indoor parking lot looks exactly like the one from RE2. The mom absorbs other organic matter to turn into a big mutated monster. There's even a shot where she's got the little girl cornered in the back of a truck that looks like a ripoff of the final subway train boss fight. I'm surprised they didn't finish her with a rocket launcher, but instead they put her through the wood chipper so they could "reference" (rip off) ED2013 instead with the raining blood. I don't know how these complete hacks keep landing jobs. Nobody comes up with anything original. Nobody needs to, I guess.

There is nothing original anymore thoughie every idea was already taken in the first few years of science fiction and fantasy digests from the 1930s through 50's

They also made her behave exactly like Jack from Resident Evil 7. It's a grim day when movies have to rip off video games instead of the other way around.

Resident Evil 2 came out in 1998, but what makes the inspiration likely is that a remake came out a few years ago, was very successful, and a hack like this would and could capitalize on that by ripping themes from it

Video games are bigger and more influential than ever, which is part of the reason why standards have fallen in movie productions. There's a low chance this and other modern horror movies aren't influenced by popular horror games.

Also like the doctor on Jurassic World 3 she's gonna need no men in her life to have and raise the baby.
I don't like feminism cancer and besides i don't get how you're justifying putting actual lgbt leftists liberal in the movie just cause you see some fricking allegory in it or whatever.
I mean, in the end it's cool to have "inclusion" and "diversity" in our movies if they get btfo, this is the new twist now.

It's regarded as one of the scariest horror movies of all time, but like any horror movie, it's of its era and won't have the same effect generations later. Evil Dead Rise doesn't even have that effect now, in its own era. I spent the whole movie just groaning at every character's lines and what the writer thought was the edgiest, sickest shit imaginable, very much like Evil Dead 2013, but in this it's even dumber.

It caught on because comedic levels of gore, low budget used and the way the acting came across. there’s a big difference between scary and over the top gore.

"Over the top gore is funny" wasn't a thing in 1981. The year before had The Shining with an elevator full of blood (also referenced in Evil Dead Rise). I find The Shining funny now too, but again, when it came out it turned people white.

            No.

While Evil Dead had its scary moments, its vfx were archaic and low budget even for the time. The audience reaction not only caused Rain I to shy away from a sequel (until the failure of Crimewave forced it out of necessity) but the producer of said sequel demanded the comedy be turned up, and deliberate. The transition to comedy was a choice borne of audience reaction and produce demand. All publicly available history.

I hate this trope. It's not cool, it's not scary, it's just annoying to listen to and a pain in the ass that I have to turn the volume down until she shuts the frick up. I hate this trend of movies being loud just to be loud.

And I only brought up that it's a woman for the fact that they very often use female characters as a vehicle to do this. Why they're doing it doesn't matter to me as much as the fact that it's never pleasant or interesting or adds positively to a scene.
