Since the country was “opened” in the 1850s they have been good at latching onto what (they thought) was the most superior culture and political system at the world with frightening rapidity. They imitated the Second French Empire of Napoleon III initially, but when France was assblasted by Prussia Japan switched their cultural mores very quickly and incorporated a lot of Anglo practices as well when the British were in the ascendancy. Something similar happened after WWII with how fast they aligned themselves with Western values when they saw it was the only system that really worked. Interesting question though would be if the USSR occupied Japan post-WWII if Japan would have ever imbibed any of THEIR values. Probably doubtful, but if the USSR won the Cold War and the US and Europe sank into economic anarchy I have no doubt Japan would and could have about-faced again in less than a single generation
White Culture was never on a "suicide path" until after WW2.
