What actually happened is Jackson, Jackson's own kids, the Arvizo brothers, and one of Jackson's personal assistants watched some movies in his bedroom, then when the kids fell asleep the two adults left the room and slept elsewhere. This was the only time Arvizo ever slept in Jackson's room by his own admission.

Secondly the Chandler's lawyer successfully delayed the criminal trial (the important one) to after the civil trial - which isn't meant to happen and put Jackson's legal team in an impossible situation where settling was the only option. The law was changed as a direct result of this case to stop it happening again.
