I'm sorry, but wasn't this whole board going "OOGA-BOOGA! WHERE DA WHITE WOMEN AT?" when he first popped up in the teaser?

Finn unironically should've been the main character. He's the only one out of the new cast that brought something (relatively) new to the table. Humanizing Stormtroopers is an interesting idea, and goes hand in hand as an extension of what George was just previously doing with humanizing Clone Troopers.

There's a lot you could do with it. Go over the specifics of why they stopped producing highly skilled clones, and instead began recruiting regular people. The details of why someone might choose to fight for the Empire, or maybe not choose at all. Like there's way more potential here than whatever Rey was supposed to be.

          >what George was just previously doing with humanizing Clone Troopers.
I believe you're confusing George for Dave.

I don't know about all that but Finn definitely had a lot of potential that the future movies just wasted for no reason. He's ultimately just one part of why the movies aren't good, there are way more problems than just how he was handled. Even in his first movie it makes no sense how he's so quick to put down his former allies.

Yeah kinda weird how the existence of Finn humanizes the stormtroopers and then 5 minutes later they're cheerfully slaughtering them

Sure, because the Chinese audience would LOVE seeing a nignog in a leading role, right?

What? How did he humanise the clones? They were just cannon fodder in the prequels

Nah it;s post modern mug shades of grey lame shit.
It;s the same with making everyone flawed. It’s so lame as boring now.
Glad they cut those scenes from return of the Jedi too.

I'm gonna say he at least ought to have been a jedi. He's a pointless character otherwise plot and theme wise.

Well Boyega is repulsive, but Finn as a character concept in VII wasn't inherently shit, he could've been a decent character with a better script, better actor, and completely different sequels.

The frick are accusing me for? I never liked Finn to begin with. Boyega's a diversity hire + his character became a walking minstrel show shortly after meeting Rey in TFA who had no problem killing off his former brothers-in-arms shortly before defecting. He was ultimately useless in the grand scheme of things.

He was, in theory, the most interesting out of 3 protags. A Stormtrooper overcoming his conditioning to do the right thing? Awesome. He fell a victim of shit writing, though.

I wrote a character specifically inspired by his GQ cover. He was in attack the block and star wars. He could be extremely influential. I'm going to end this thread by mentioning KIN and Sleight, two sci fi films with black male leads that could be combined into their own little MILESTONE-CU.

Yeah I thought he was ugly at first, didnt help that the trailer showed the absolute most unflattering angle possible while he's also sweaty and gross
But I thought he was cool after he attacked Kylo Ren with a lightsaber despite being a total nobody, and I thought it was building him up as a future jedi
    >rogue stormtrooper joins the rebellion and eventually becomes a jedi after making peace with his past
Kino character that never happened. Finn really was a token character from the startn and Rian Johnson hated him for some weird reason. Pretty sad
