This has made me think though, it has been shown multiple times that the crown can be worn by other people and they won't go crazy as long as Ice King is alive, but can still use the ice powers of the crown (Abracadaniel uses the crown in the Giuseppe episode). Does this mean that someone could theoretically infect some random person with the madness of the crown so that they become the immortal host, but then after the guy has become sufficiently mad and immortal take the crown for themselves leaving the random guy powerless and trapped in a prison somewhere while you continue to benefit from the powers of the crown without the madness?

That's never been explicitly shown as far as I remember. Ice King let Gunter rebuild the Ice Kingdom while he chilled at the Treefort, and Ice King wasn't shown getting older or weaker during his stay there while he mostly lacked the crown (outside of a few scenes in an episode where he needed his ice powers again for plot reasons so he magically had his crown again). He only started to age and die after the magic was sucked out of the crown with the Bella Noche episode.
I was specifically referring to the moment where Finn starts to despair that this might actually be how he dies after everything he's been and gone through and Simon comforts him by telling him that not everyone can choose how they go out. Nice poignant moment between them.

Hunson is more overly powerful as the lord of his domain, but Scarab is specifically better at fighting powerful entities for the purpose of arresting them. So if Hunson did break some kind of cosmic law or another, Scarab could probably beat him and take him to the maybe repaired Citadel.
I like it more than the Bubbline ship, I always found that underdeveloped due to the lack of commitment the show had with everything until the literal last minute. CN probably forced them to keep it that way, but it still happened and it bothered me.

Winter King is more a tragic villain, if he actually tried to fix the madness permanently in the 100s years he's been sane and help PB he wouldn't be a villain, but he's perfectly content with the crazy PB just existing and enjoys her twisted affection for her.

I passed on it (and RS) in 2010 due to dislike of the artstyle at the time (backed a different “horse” instead) but yeah maybe it’s time. I keep hearing about how much it falls apart but whatever you guys said the same thing about Korra and I enjoyed most of that.
It has its ups and downs, but different people go into the show wanting different things from it. So you end up with some people who hate everything that isn't the silly episodic adventures of the first season and therefore find any of the lore or story arcs of the later seasons to be bad regardless of if its well written or not.

Someone pointed out last thread that the curse may have latched onto PB because Marceline might have died in that universe. There is a running theme with the crown and its users and their lovers getting tragically seperated like Simon and Betty or Gunther and Turtle Princess.

There's a darker implication that what caused Ice King to break the crown's hold on him through his own sheer force of will was Marceline dying (which is implied by her ice clone and WK specifically bringing up making ice clones when Simon asked him why he didn't care about Betty being dead plus him having her actual guitar)

PB made Candy homunculi to be her subjects and they are considered living people so why would the ice people be any different. I regretted watching it now in 2023 when i wish i did when it came out in 2020. Actually finding closure with my resentment over the series after all of these years felt incredible and I'm really enjoying Fionna and Cake now. That's actually rather simple, when Simon was hit with the Anti Magic wave, he was only supporting himself. When Winter King's crown lost it's magic, it was spread thin amongst all the ice beings he created. He probably didn't have enough inside his body to sustain himself. Unlike Simon who's only company were flesh and blood penguins.
Even if he did a dick move by transferring the insanity to PB I still felt bad for what happened. He wasn't some pure evil monster, he was just a broken and misguided Simon that took worse path than og Simon. It's even more fricked up that nobody besides Fionna seems to really care that he died. Even og Simon was kinda fine with it cause it made him feel vindicated (though maybe that just shows how fricked in the head and suicidal Simon is that he barley care that a version of him died)
They keep bouncing between her transforming casually without issue like Jake would and her being unexperienced with the powers and getting stuck or doing it wrong

I read that as 'so the crown really is that bad, it wasn't just that I didn't have enough willpower', not 'I would refuse to control the crown if possible'. The Winter King offered to teach him how near the end of the song, and it isn't like Simon objected to that idea.
I assumed with the passing of his madness he lost his obsession with betty. Seems like betty is part of his obession with love which Candy Queen inherited
seems like the show continues to confirm that the crown's madness is inescapable. if not held by the host, it must go somewhere. the endgame of the show will be simon having sanity while also having the crown, but the question is how is that possible given what we're shown. because once fionna and cake meet up with marcy/bubblegum post simon-becoming-ice-king again, they'll realize that their happiness is not possible without someone else's suffering just as fionna pondered at the end of this episode.
but it does feel somewhat cheap if they do an ending like that. an everyone is happy ending. but i dunno what else they can do that feels satisfying

Do you think the Winter King felt some sympathy for Bubblegum? I guess we don't know exactly how the insanity transfer worked, but I feel like he could've just frozen her, or kept her locked up with her not being able to escape, but he was perfectly happy apparently to let her kidnap him over and over. At least with Ice King vs Bubblegum, Ice King had powers, but the WK should have the edge in every way against this version.
I'm not sure I can call the WK evil in reality, while what he was doing was cruel, I feel like most people would like to get rid of insanity on the level of what he was going through.

This has made me think though, it has been shown multiple times that the crown can be worn by other people and they won't go crazy as long as Ice King is alive, but can still use the ice powers of the crown (Abracadaniel uses the crown in the Giuseppe episode). Does this mean that someone could theoretically infect some random person with the madness of the crown so that they become the immortal host, but then after the guy has become sufficiently mad and immortal take the crown for themselves leaving the random guy powerless and trapped in a prison somewhere while you continue to benefit from the powers of the crown without the madness?

That's never been explicitly shown as far as I remember. Ice King let Gunter rebuild the Ice Kingdom while he chilled at the Treefort, and Ice King wasn't shown getting older or weaker during his stay there while he mostly lacked the crown (outside of a few scenes in an episode where he needed his ice powers again for plot reasons so he magically had his crown again). He only started to age and die after the magic was sucked out of the crown with the Bella Noche episode.

It has its ups and downs, but different people go into the show wanting different things from it. So you end up with some people who hate everything that isn't the silly episodic adventures of the first season and therefore find any of the lore or story arcs of the later seasons to be bad regardless of if its well written or not.

Someone pointed out last thread that the curse may have latched onto PB because Marceline might have died in that universe. There is a running theme with the crown and its users and their lovers getting tragically seperated like Simon and Betty or Gunther and Turtle Princess.

That's actually rather simple, when Simon was hit with the Anti Magic wave, he was only supporting himself. When Winter King's crown lost it's magic, it was spread thin amongst all the ice beings he created. He probably didn't have enough inside his body to sustain himself. Unlike Simon who's only company were flesh and blood penguins.
This is a century after the 'main' timeline.
Even if he did a dick move by transferring the insanity to PB I still felt bad for what happened. He wasn't some pure evil monster, he was just a broken and misguided Simon that took worse path than og Simon. It's even more fricked up that nobody besides Fionna seems to really care that he died. Even og Simon was kinda fine with it cause it made him feel vindicated (though maybe that just shows how fricked in the head and suicidal Simon is that he barley care that a version of him died)

seems like the show continues to confirm that the crown's madness is inescapable. if not held by the host, it must go somewhere. the endgame of the show will be simon having sanity while also having the crown, but the question is how is that possible given what we're shown. because once fionna and cake meet up with marcy/bubblegum post simon-becoming-ice-king again, they'll realize that their happiness is not possible without someone else's suffering just as fionna pondered at the end of this episode.
but it does feel somewhat cheap if they do an ending like that. an everyone is happy ending. but i dunno what else they can do that feels satisfying

I guess we don't know exactly how the insanity transfer worked, but I feel like he could've just frozen her, or kept her locked up with her not being able to escape, but he was perfectly happy apparently to let her kidnap him over and over. At least with Ice King vs Bubblegum, Ice King had powers, but the WK should have the edge in every way against this version.
