I was like 14 so don't totally remember but I was definitely very hype for this and What Was Missing. I certainly liked it, and even though some fangirls were butthurt over it being fanfiction I thought that was hilarious and a great way to explain how the world got genderbend'd.

Perhaps I like Gumball x Ice Queen so much because it heavily shows the compassion and heart Gumball can have that PB.

Gumball can’t be perfect, but he can be more naive and more willing to open his heart to people than PB does.
I was 8 and was concerned that that was just how the show was gonna be now and after I thought about it for a bit I then thought they were gonna start having episodes alternate between Finn and jake ,and fionna and cake (this was mostly during the promos which lasted for a few weeks before the episode aired

One of the funniest Apple and Onion episodes is centered around that same gimmick and it came out before BMO's Distant Lands
I enjoyed BMO too. The story with Y5 was very cookie cutter (as were all of the distant lands specials if I'm honest), but it was cute. I think Distant Lands was held back by its attempts to cater to a younger audience.

Well, technically with how Jake's wish was worded that everything returned to normal, and the fact Prismo's cube is outside of the normal space time, they could have been returned to their real reality and the Lich one splintered off to allow for Jake's wish to be granted.
Prismo and the other cosmic beings don't have to work within the confines of our reality, so time doesn't have to be linear. Just look at the episode where Jake becomes Prismo.
Prismo's wishes are supposed to have a monkey paw catch. So I was suprised when jake's wish seemingly had no consequences whatsoever. Maybe the jerryverse is the OG universe of AT and jake's wish was a separate reality where he and finn made it home safe. That's my headcanon atleast.

Prismo's wish system is a debatable one. Where they return to is a variable but more than that Prismo directly changed time because he liked Jake meaning he easily could have done the Lich's wish to affect their world but then instead used jake to force a branching path rather than direct flow. The Ice king tapes are the perfect indication because that universe had no variations to the normal given when the wish would have been made but it's shown promptly that what would have been just an ice king moment was turned into the end of all things.
The Lich's wish was the extension of ALL life, not just that of Ooo meaning his wish should have also killed old man prismo

Less alternate more like 3 second difference. That's the big thing about time travel. trying to change a major event to stop the lich means changing way more than just the few seconds he dealt to make a wish. Jake's wish technically canceled out the future that would have been the lich's meaning that by all accounts both the Finn and Jake of that world would have still been alive but are now in a loop where Finn wishes farmworld and jake after befriending prismo, makes a wish that cancels both Finn and the Lich's own. However Prismo cut the loop after by pretty much locking the lich that made the wish into an world where he should assume he got what he wanted.
Jake's wish changes mere minutes in time in there lives meaning nothing for them was greatly affected and their world(Ooo prime) is continuing along normally
Guessing that something else changed in the world for this to take place, Jake might've died earlier or fricked up the whole 'change the wish' thing somehow.
I was thinking that today. Theres a few shots that keep getting brought up and him at the bus stop is one. In fact in this last episode, fionna asked if he went with better and asked "why would I" before getting cut off. Well have to wait and see though.
No, I still believe they won't explore that time period in any depth. The mystery is what gives it its flavour. It'll probably be centered on a different side character. Flame Princess? Sweet P? Who knows.

It's jarring enough when they have eternal teenage voiced Shada voice adult buff chad Finn when he's still a bit goofy. It's in an entirely new league of cringe when adult Finn is supposed to be super serious and stern.
I took him more seriously than the other adult Finns. He sounds like a 20 year-old that actually is serious, rather than a 40 year old loser. Pillow Finn and Farm Finn are the best adult Finns of the series.
So, something that's been bugging me a bit and I don't know if it has been brought up in the thread yet is Marceline's age in the vampire universe. We know the original Marcy remained just a half demon all the way through her teens as she fought vampires, with the Vampire King biting her around the age of 18. And since Vampires don't age, she's physically been stuck at 18 since.
So if the Vampire King found Marcy when she was still a little kid, why didn't he bite her then and make her an immortal little vampire kid instead? Does this mean he just raised her as a non vampire for over 10 years before deciding that 18 was a good time to make her a vampire? Just seems strange. How much would change if he did turn her into a vampire after meeting her? Obviously the romantic tension with PB wouldn't have been written in as a start.
Not really confirmed that he got her then, right? Didn't this just show like something spooking her and cut? She could have run away and survived on her own for a while before VK finally found her and turned her.
Or, maybe he wanted her to be older so she would be older and stronger/smarter and more effective as a vamp daughter.

The Fool was the first of the main vampires she killed and took the power of flight from, so that scene is obviously after she killed the Fool but before she fought the Vampire King.
Maybe he just held off on it till she was an adult for the sake of convenience? I imagine Marcy didn't want to stay as a kid forever + that the Vamp king didn't want a subordinate that looked like a kid forever either.
Works off Vampire the Masquerade logic where you take on "interns" (ghouls, thralls, acolytes, etc.) and apprentice them for years at a time. You sell them on turning them into a vampire if they prove themselves. Now, in VtM vamp blood was akin to narcotics so the favorite method for vampires to maintain legions of trustworthy ghouls is to get them mindbroken by feeding them their blood like candy. So they'll always be loyal to you as they become codependent and always need your blood in particular to fix their craving. It's described as hyper heroin or like some super drug; gives ghouls a small amount of strength, dexterity, heals them too.
Could've been the same relationship Marcy had with VK before being properly initiated. I don't know if Muto and frens would ever go that demented into the problematic lore attached to vampire tropes though.

That's the reason why he's "Depressed" in his wish world, the monkey paw allow prismo and other cosmic being to perceive this universe, and therefore it continue to exist as the Lich unable to kill himself (probably since he killed LIfe, and Death barred him form deadworld as a punishment).
Making LSP the focus character and her being the cure was the worst part. She undercut all dramatic tension with insufferable comic relief. Real disappointment since this miniseries came right after Islands which did a way better job of balancing drama, surrealism and comedy.

We have to remember they sort of balance eachother out. You can argue that had Simon never met Betty he wouldn't have the courage to face adversity as even in his flashbacks he was like a stereotypical nerd (avg introverted 4ch user). He wouldn't have gone out of his way to save someone he didn't know and sacrifice so much of himself in doing so had Betty not been there to teach him through her actions. Conversely, Betty learned far more about the occult from Simon to the point she was able to adapt to magic man's powers.

At first I disliked Fionna but I like that she chilled out in these episodes and finally seems to be displaying some signs of empathy towards Simon instead of bullying him all the time so that's good. What I've learned from those episodes is that if Simon didn't sacrifice himself and put on the crown, Ooo would've been affected greatly as shown by those other universes (specially the vampire one). That kinda sucks for him, he cannot be sane and be with Betty in any universe without it going shit
Simon, in hindsight serves as the linchpin of the world. He's the only one who ever believed in magic of any kind enough to go looking for it, he's the one who would save the world from the nukes if it came down to it, his long life meant meetings that only come at a chance for most, and he stands as the final true human to date. Even Finn is a Nu-human due to all of his people and parents being post mushroom war folk but he himself is also a being of great power being a comet like the lich.
Finn and simon are oddly tied to the fate of the world, Finn needs simon to protect the world for each time he comes back and simon needs finn to eventually restore his mind and grant compassion to the ice king
Just finished both episodes, I felt a great sadness during the scene where the video shows ice king turning into a skeleton and got hung up on it before finishing and went back a thread to look for answers and then finished up. I don't know why but the moment makes me feel really sad and even a bit teary eyed but I can't explain why

Both universes were just so terribly depressing. Not saying that's a bad thing, pretty sure that's what they were going for. The Vampire World especially made me see the Vampire King in a new light, as we were mostly familiar with the version from Stakes which had chilled out for most of his screen time.

Ice Queen was the actual analog to Ice King in the F&C universe created by Prismo. The parts in their episodes where Ice King shows up are him adding his own bits to the end of the story
That’s kind of funny, ice king is a tortured soul with a tragic backstory while ice queen is just what everyone thought ice king was originally. That could give her a fun dynamic with simon if they ever had them meet, simon’s like saddened that she could never free her mind from the crown only for prismo to tell her that’s just how she is. Maybe she’d even try mimicking simon some.
Really though, we were robbed of these two having some dumb rivalry in simon's head over something as simple as Fionna having a tab or the two just not getting along at all. Would be nice if season 2 is her season

i think that fionna is a good fit for simon, she was kind of on the path to becoming like betty (and finn to an extent) by way of complete devotion to someone/adventuring to the point of self-sacrifice, but her inexperience and immediate consequences appear to have halted her progression. simon is also more aware and receptive to fionna, since he's not a complete noob about love now, and can actually pick up on other people's emotions better.

It’s mostly because If it is an alternate wish reality instead of the original that would mean the lich Finn the human and jake the dog three parter would lose all the stakes those episodes actually had
Well, technically with how Jake's wish was worded that everything returned to normal, and the fact Prismo's cube is outside of the normal space time, they could have been returned to their real reality and the Lich one splintered off to allow for Jake's wish to be granted.
Prismo and the other cosmic beings don't have to work within the confines of our reality, so time doesn't have to be linear. Just look at the episode where Jake becomes Prismo.

they were in danger, if they just went home without making a wish they would be killed instantly, be killed by the lich, or kill the lich and starve to death
Prismo's wish system is a debatable one. Where they return to is a variable but more than that Prismo directly changed time because he liked Jake meaning he easily could have done the Lich's wish to affect their world but then instead used jake to force a branching path rather than direct flow. The Ice king tapes are the perfect indication because that universe had no variations to the normal given when the wish would have been made but it's shown promptly that what would have been just an ice king moment was turned into the end of all things.
The Lich's wish was the extension of ALL life, not just that of Ooo meaning his wish should have also killed old man prismo

Less alternate more like 3 second difference. That's the big thing about time travel. trying to change a major event to stop the lich means changing way more than just the few seconds he dealt to make a wish. Jake's wish technically canceled out the future that would have been the lich's meaning that by all accounts both the Finn and Jake of that world would have still been alive but are now in a loop where Finn wishes farmworld and jake after befriending prismo, makes a wish that cancels both Finn and the Lich's own. However Prismo cut the loop after by pretty much locking the lich that made the wish into an world where he should assume he got what he wanted.
Jake's wish changes mere minutes in time in there lives meaning nothing for them was greatly affected and their world(Ooo prime) is continuing along normally

So, something that's been bugging me a bit and I don't know if it has been brought up in the thread yet is Marceline's age in the vampire universe. We know the original Marcy remained just a half demon all the way through her teens as she fought vampires, with the Vampire King biting her around the age of 18. And since Vampires don't age, she's physically been stuck at 18 since.
So if the Vampire King found Marcy when she was still a little kid, why didn't he bite her then and make her an immortal little vampire kid instead? Does this mean he just raised her as a non vampire for over 10 years before deciding that 18 was a good time to make her a vampire? Just seems strange. How much would change if he did turn her into a vampire after meeting her? Obviously the romantic tension with PB wouldn't have been written in as a start.
Not really confirmed that he got her then, right? Didn't this just show like something spooking her and cut? She could have run away and survived on her own for a while before VK finally found her and turned her.
Or, maybe he wanted her to be older so she would be older and stronger/smarter and more effective as a vamp daughter.

Works off Vampire the Masquerade logic where you take on "interns" (ghouls, thralls, acolytes, etc.) and apprentice them for years at a time. You sell them on turning them into a vampire if they prove themselves. Now, in VtM vamp blood was akin to narcotics so the favorite method for vampires to maintain legions of trustworthy ghouls is to get them mindbroken by feeding them their blood like candy. So they'll always be loyal to you as they become codependent and always need your blood in particular to fix their craving. It's described as hyper heroin or like some super drug; gives ghouls a small amount of strength, dexterity, heals them too.
Could've been the same relationship Marcy had with VK before being properly initiated. I don't know if Muto and frens would ever go that demented into the problematic lore attached to vampire tropes though.

Don't forget that the Lich's ultimate goal is to kill the Cosmic Imagination and bring about the end of existence; the extinction of all life and the destruction of souls where simply a means of an end. That's the reason why he's "Depressed" in his wish world, the monkey paw allow prismo and other cosmic being to perceive this universe, and therefore it continue to exist as the Lich unable to kill himself (probably since he killed LIfe, and Death barred him form deadworld as a punishment).

I'm pretty sure she was set up as a villain for a couple of episodes but once she discovered her ice powers she was the one elemental who didn't go insane and instead just dropped everything for some reason
When ooo was getting candified by bubble gum singing she froze herself again then we never saw her again
She was melancholic. You know the four humors: Bubblegum was sanguine (too cheery and overbearing), Fire P was Choleric (angry), Patience St. Pim was melancholic (depressed), and Slime P was phlegmatic. Patience became the embodiment of her element and overdosed on depression, then froze herself when she saw her plans didn't unite the elementals together and instead had Bonnie almost conquer everything with her candy power (overabundance of sanguine).

Oh yeah, phlegmatic is like associated with communities, wetness, and having a "sluggish" temperament but that was sort of hard to translate exactly. I like how that ep showed Bonnie's untapped potential and scary desire for control at all cost. Literally a matriarchal god by that point.

It's been a while since I watched the vampire episodes, but it sat a little weird with me that the vampire king was seemingly so flippant about the whole "humans are going extinct due to overfeeding" thing, it came across, at least partly, that he was meant to be a bit smarter than that, right? Even if evil Marcy didn't care, You'd figure he'd probably have seen the potential of them running out of their main food source to be a bad thing.

We have to remember they sort of balance eachother out. You can argue that had Simon never met Betty he wouldn't have the courage to face adversity as even in his flashbacks he was like a stereotypical nerd (avg introverted 4ch user). He wouldn't have gone out of his way to save someone he didn't know and sacrifice so much of himself in doing so had Betty not been there to teach him through her actions. Conversely, Betty learned far more about the occult from Simon to the point she was able to adapt to magic man's powers.

At first I disliked Fionna but I like that she chilled out in these episodes and finally seems to be displaying some signs of empathy towards Simon instead of bullying him all the time so that's good. What I've learned from those episodes is that if Simon didn't sacrifice himself and put on the crown, Ooo would've been affected greatly as shown by those other universes (specially the vampire one). That kinda sucks for him, he cannot be sane and be with Betty in any universe without it going shit
Simon, in hindsight serves as the linchpin of the world. He's the only one who ever believed in magic of any kind enough to go looking for it, he's the one who would save the world from the nukes if it came down to it, his long life meant meetings that only come at a chance for most, and he stands as the final true human to date. Even Finn is a Nu-human due to all of his people and parents being post mushroom war folk but he himself is also a being of great power being a comet like the lich.
Finn and simon are oddly tied to the fate of the world, Finn needs simon to protect the world for each time he comes back and simon needs finn to eventually restore his mind and grant compassion to the ice king
Just finished both episodes, I felt a great sadness during the scene where the video shows ice king turning into a skeleton and got hung up on it before finishing and went back a thread to look for answers and then finished up. I don't know why but the moment makes me feel really sad and even a bit teary eyed but I can't explain why

Prismo wrote her as the ice king's equivalent long before any simon lore was a thing and he never changed or updated the story to engage such a topic.
Ice Queen was the actual analog to Ice King in the F&C universe created by Prismo. The parts in their episodes where Ice King shows up are him adding his own bits to the end of the story
That’s kind of funny, ice king is a tortured soul with a tragic backstory while ice queen is just what everyone thought ice king was originally. That could give her a fun dynamic with simon if they ever had them meet, simon’s like saddened that she could never free her mind from the crown only for prismo to tell her that’s just how she is. Maybe she’d even try mimicking simon some.

i think that fionna is a good fit for simon, she was kind of on the path to becoming like betty (and finn to an extent) by way of complete devotion to someone/adventuring to the point of self-sacrifice, but her inexperience and immediate consequences appear to have halted her progression. simon is also more aware and receptive to fionna, since he's not a complete noob about love now, and can actually pick up on other people's emotions better.
