The only time a Finn has ever told someone else to fall on the sword for them was when Fern tried to lock up Finn and take his place, and he clearly wasn’t of sound mind at the time.

This show/Fionna's story never struck me as fantasy fulfillment and especially not power fantasy, more like the opposite. "Person who fantasizes of adventure is grinded down by the guilty consequences of their unskilled actions". Nearly every time she tried to be a hero (trauma john, the candy people, the vampire trap) turned out to be a frick up. That, and turning her priority to Cake/Simon/her friend's welfare instead of her desire for fun and adventure, seems like a general deconstruction towards adults who watch cartoons, fantasize, and neglect passionately participating in real life with real people.
It meshes with Finn's arc in empathy and choosing battles. It can be taken further and maybe she'll have real goals next season - but goals made with more maturity like "I want to make things better and be dependable" instead of "I want to have fun and look cool"
Maybe you could stretch it as "male fantasy is to exert their will on things while female fantasy is to make way for other's will", but original AT was never about Finn and Jake trying to change anything either. They were also out to have fun and help where it was needed, while Finn dreamed of being a hero who gets the princess (like Fionna). But his early adventures allowed for mistakes and growth while not coming with the kind of consequences in a short timespan like Fionna's did.
Finn was often an ego extension of his writer in interacting with a magical world and experiencing trials - he was the center, the eye, the hand - but Fionna is more of a participating character in a web of character stories. Her circumstances are a byproduct of Simon's character story, which was used as opportunity to further explore established characters outside the confines of the main show.

Regardless of whether you spend $0 or $100 a month on coffee, the difference isn’t tremendous on affording rent unless you’re in a very small town with little job prospects. Even then, these small towns have tough housing markets due to aging housing stock and high prices relative to local income.
