>firebending sucks
Firebending has the only attack in the series that is canonically a one-hit kill. If you are struck by lightning, that's it. And good luck defending against it because it breaks through just about everything.

>Blood-bending
>Choke the air out of your enemy
>Whatever the frick Earthbenders have
Sure, OP.
You can survive bloodbending.
You can interrupt asphyxiation with airbending.
Everyone seems to survive being struck by a five ton boulder moving at thirty eight miles per hour.
Unless you have resurrecting water on hand, lightning is fatal.
>You can interrupt asphyxiation with airbending.
Gotta be an Airbender to do that...good luck being the .0000000000000000000000000000000%
What? Literally just hit them. It takes, like, thirty seconds to complete.
Which is ricidulous, because lightning isn't even a one-hit kill in real life unless it combusts something else. You only die from continued exposure to electricity, not a brief jolt of it.
>Whatever the frick Earthbenders have
Since they can manipulate metal and crystalline formations, they can technically maniplulate minerals, so I'm still eager for the Earthbender who goes "Your body is full of salt, let me get it out" or some shit like that.
But then again, another boost becomes a tidbit superflous when you have fricking lavabending.
Lavabending is only dangerous on paper. In practice I don't think its ever been shown hurting anyone.
lighting literally does permanent damage to the body. and depending where you are hit and what you touch, YES it's a one hit kill. also your age.
Earth Benders can crush your skull or impale you or break your legs.
water benders can freeze you and you freeze to death, or they take the liquidout your body and you die a far worse death. and can also spike you to death.
Airbending will literally send you flying like a tornado. without plot shit, airbending can send you to the sky and you just drop to your death or get killed being violently shoved into hard or sharp objects around you.
>Choke the air out of your enemy
Literally just move out the fricking way or interrupt the move by attacking them. Having air pulled out your lungs is not immediately fatal, and I doubt an Airbender can do this from afar
If a thin film of rubber was resistive enough enough to stop it, it wouldn't have traveled the gap between the bender and the victim in the first place so the rubber suit doesn't work.
A Faraday cage and ground rod doesn't work because Lightning bending even doesn't act like electricity. Electricity isn't a beam you "aim" at things. Lightning bending is obviously not seeking ground or the path of least resistance cuz you can aim it at whatever the frick you want. It's more like a beam of plasma than actual lightning
>Electricity isn't a beam you "aim" at things
Even this fantasy magic bending thing has rules. Has there ever been footage of a firebender curving the trajectory of a lightning strike after leaving the bender? Even Iroh needs to let the lightning flow through his body to redirect its trajectory. "Never let the lightning pass through your heart." This suggests the firebender using lightning has to absolutely aim it like a beam. If its diverted, they can't course correct it.

>And good luck defending against it because it breaks through just about everything.
wear steel armor and then drag a length of steel cable behind it
any lightning that hits you will instead travel through the steel armor and then into the ground without intersecting your vital organs
Because everyone has full plate armor and a huge, cumbersome cable on hand at all times.
The main characters have ZERO access to full plate armor and a large steel cable, and even if they did they wouldn’t use it because mobility matters more than armor that won’t help much against the kind of enemies they deal with in the regular.
And then they just cook you alive inside your armor with regular fire because the steel cable prevents you from staying mobile.
Lightning has pulverized huge stone pillars. I feel like it would punch a hole through a 5 cm thick sheet of metal.
>bloodbenders rip the blood out your body, killing you instantly
>metalbenders only need to a small ball of iron that they can stealthly fire through your skull like a bullet, killing you instantly
>airbenders can crush the air gap between skull and brain, killing you instantly
>firebenders can use lightening, killing you instantly
Its all OP shit and you shouldn't take a cartoon seriously.
>metalbenders can rip the iron right out of your fricking bones, killing you instantly
I feel like if they could do this, or anything else you described, someone would have. Bloodbending is uniquely OP precisely because it affects a person directly. No other element can.
Didn’t Korra have the mercury bended out of her body?
>wear a rubber suit
>shit bending gets shit on
I'm no electrical engineer but I seriously doubt a thin rubber suit would stop a bolt of fricking lightning.
Jet was OKO by a rock.
killing via airbending was one of the good things in korra. so it was like one of 3 things that were good.
Block it with a rock wall so the current flows down into the ground, thus the term "grounded." Any earthbender who knows how it works can defend against it. Also, getting crushed by a large enough boulder is usually a 1 hit kill too.
