It's not that they're shit, it's that it takes time to sew and then weather clothes so they look real and the producers won't give them that time. These days Hollywood doesn't even want to waste time with having a proper script before they start shooting, thinking they'll make all the scenes they've shot fit together better when they're cutting the movie, fixing any little problems with CGI and calling everyone back for reshoots if they really frick things up. It's why budgets have gotten so inflated as well.
