It's a different base dimension where there isn't magic or vampires. The other dimensions has the character with grey skin.

Honestly I think the bigger issue I have is the hair. Gumball's hair is pretty much the same to his original, but they gave Marshal Lee the weird dreads haircut. I get that it's a black haircut, but it seems like such a strange change.
Now that you mentioned it, it actually is weird that Gumball's hair stayed the same. It was only round because it's literal gum. But it's not gum it's real hair now so it should just be normal straight hair.
It's really not racist since it's possible for guys to be pale and even that pale with makeup so his human design being so vastly different is jarring to people. He didn't even keep the same hair type.
I think if you change the hue from blue to a yellowish pink so he looks more pale than otherworldly it would look best with the themes. Not as good as the og design, I would probably add other colors to contrast with his pale skin, but looks more like what he was supposed to be.
