This whole movie is like a fever dream. It throws 40 years of DC film history at you and basically does frick all with it. By the end, they still had to rely on Snyder story/characters to carry its climax. It also fittingly felt like a closure for the whole capeshit genre. Like it had come full circle and was becoming almost a parody of itself.

It's like three movies in one. I think they could've toned down the cameos which came off as pandering to me and focused more on its characters. The Barry/Barry interactions were good. But Kara had zero development and Keaton was reduced to nostalgia bait. Honestly I feel like Affleck should've been the Batman instead with some deviations.
The end fight was fairly cool but having watched MoS like a dozen times, the Kryptonians did not come off as imposing or alien as they did in Snyder's movie. The movie has a really shitty ending with the Clooney GOTCHA that does frick all for Barry Allen's character.
I just realized, this was the perfect opportunity to show more of the broken Batman that was before Superman redeemed him. What a wasted opportunity.

I just finished it and while I think this was honestly the best "Synderverse" movie by far I did have a problem with this part. Like didn't Original Barry frick with one of their hearts at the start? Yeah, after some of the initial scenes, I realized that I wasn't even noticing any of the standard "twin" cuts.
He really plays both versions of the character well, and in a few scenes, I was actually astounded by how much I was buying the whole thing, considering how much I fricking hate his appearance and demeanor, both as a human being, and the characters themselves. I have to give it to him, he's a pretty great actor.
At other times, it was just obvious he didn't have much to work with as the script is utter shit unfortunately. Trying to do too much with too little, and not really getting anywhere with it. I know the industry is broken, and Jon Peters got his fricking spider in this movie too, but the entire first part with the chase and the babies, and I'm just going "who the frick wrote this garbage, and for what purpose". Ultimately the CGI was worse than Bollywood tier which mars the entire experience as it's a very CGI heavy movie. They should've cut down on the CGI action bullshit sequences, and spent more time with Keaton and Calle. They could've carried a lot more scenes, and it would have been especially nice to get into Supergirl's character, to make the impact of her inevitable 1000 deaths greater.
Thinking on it, the intro 20 minutes are a complete waste in this movie. It's so sloppily directed, I bet it was a last minute reshoot. All the worst scenes are there and all to show off shit we've seen a billion times already. The baby scene is utterly ridiculous.

I think the main thing is all the babies about to die some gruesome death simultaneously - the falling to their deaths isn't enough. For like 20 seconds, each consecutive shot showing a potential grumesome baby death. I lost it when it showed the one plummeting towards the fire.

You know when you play a AAA game and then you play like the PSP/Mobile game sequel and it's retelling something you saw in a AAA game but it's cheaper and shittier and soulless? That's what the Zod fight felt like in this movie compared to Man of Steel
This is true. One thing that bothered me with Flash was the lack of scale in in the final fight. It was just this wrestling brawl of the army randomly charging the Kryptonians.
Compare this to the Smallville scene in MoS. You have a very clear sense of scale. Superman, two Kryptonians and a handful of airplanes in engagement. That was very nice and made the fights more impactful. This is also done very well in BvS when the Defense Secreterary is having a conversation with the President about launching a nuke. And you see all the chains of command at work giving you this plausible scale and risk. He also adds very small but substantial characters to act as anchor for the audience. There is the shy girl that obviously fancies Superman and she breaks down when they're going to nuke Superman. There's the badass Colonel in MoS who goes up against Faora and survives.
IMO Snyder has made some of the best action scenes in movie history precisely because how he cares about these details that other big budget movies don't get.

In ZSJL, you can see that Flash can't really do his bullshit against Superman. I guess Zod is as close to Superman as a Kryptonian gets in power level.
I thought it was because he had low confidence in his own combat abilities established in previous movies and the opening scene when he says that he is the janny of the league. He could stop the heist himself, but he hasn't properly honed his own experiences, the theme of the movie. Also, he put too much chips into supergirl, which he thought would be female superman.
