I find the actual aviation stuff, leading up to and during the plane crash to be genuinely offensive in how watered down and flanderized it is. It's not enough that they have to make the white co-pilot incomprehensibly panicky, but to basically just make up shit the whole time too.
All while emulating a plane accident that, in reality, cost the lives of everyone onboard.

I expected nothing from it, and was more than pleasantly surprised. Not only by him, but also the plot itself. Only problem I might have was the part about the flight simulator, instead of having them talk about it just show quickly how some other pilots fail miserably at his feat just to drive it home even more so how good he really is.
The whole point of the film is that Denzel's character was perfectly drunk in the moment: inhibitions and fear gone but skill and confidence to the max.
A sober man would have crashed the plane with no survivors.

Denzel is based as frick and this is a great film unironically. Intense crash scene, great character drama and nice understated Christian themes. Blessed.
