Flop incoming

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning tracking for a "soft" 45 million opening

It's expected to get steam rolled by Oppenheimer and Barbie (comes out 1 week before these two Titans)

Do audiences not care about these movies anymore or is this just a terrible slot to place your movie? I bet this wouldve been a bigger success if they released it earlier in the year

It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14

Unattended Children Pitbull Club Shirt $21.68

theory: the reported "tracking" for movies is low because it is only about people who buy tickets in advance but it ends up becoming a self-fullfilling prophecy sort of where normies hear that "no one is buying tickets to the flash/its gonna flop" so people who might have went out and bought ticket on the day just decide not to go leading it to the movies flopping.

It's the reporting of advance ticket sales being low that causes movies to flop

        exactly. psyop shit is real

        >theory: the reported "tracking" for movies is low because it is only about people who buy tickets in advance but it ends up becoming a self-fullfilling prophecy
But tracking for recent flops (particularly Flash and TLM) has been overblown and missed the mark by tens of millions of dollars. Trackings have often become a disguised propaganda tool for studios. Another example: Barbie will NOT open to $80 mil, that's a PR fabrication.
This thread though is based on a mentally-ill lie, as MI7 will make much more money in its OW

I think people are legitimately tired of seeing the same brands over and over. Hollywood has leaned on that crutch more than at any other point in time, and there might actually be a point where the oversaturation backfires

I want a film where she sexually tortures Bunny, Lizzie Olsen, and Jenna Ortega.

You're either a liar or a dimwit, it's tracking for at least 2x that:
    >Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One is tracking for a franchise-best opening in the $90 million range at the domestic box office in its first five days, a huge start for the July tentpole. And there’s plenty of upside, according to polling.

They really did smart by dumping every single movie in same few months during recession

How can you blame the recession when Mario and Avatar both just made over a billion? And Top Gun made a shit ton just last year

people will shell out for a perceived 'must see at the theater' (eg IMAX) experience. Anything else can be streamed

Mario definitely does not fit in that category though

I think Mario just has a really huge appeal along a broad age range, is young child friendly so great family movie, and Chris Pratt. I honestly don't know how he does it but he puts asses in seats

Not really? No one was looking forward to this movie after crystal skull. Mission impossible is an ongoing franchise that hasn’t had a bad movie yet

Imagine embarrassing oneself so much by making a thread saying MI7 is tracking for an initial $45 mil only when it's gonna make twice that at least. I would never post again

The MI sequels just feel like Tom Cruise & Friends. The last few especially feel so interchangeable, with no fear for any of the characters dying.

Money is a factor now, with summer vacations and such people have to budget what they can do with their shrinking dollars, and mediocre movies (at least at the theater) are lower on the list.
