FoP is coming back. Cosmo and Wanda replace Timmy for a black girl. Timmy ends up as the fat loser from the episode he wishes to be an adult rather than a handsome Chad like in Channel Chasers.
>According to an official logline, “The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish” follows “ten-year-old Hazel Wells [who] has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, Fairy Godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true.”

I’ll give them everything else in that movie but that robot was fighting against SLAVERY in the Star Wars movie.
It’s so weird no one really ever addresses that in the whole franchise- Restraining Bolts exited as far back as the first movie for crying out loud.

Such a weird thing in it overall.

          >Doctor Who on here
Kinda stops fitting this template immediately. Wokeness didn't really ruin the Jodie era so much as the shitty and stifled writing. That and I'm gonna guess this was made before Tennant's return where a trans girl tells him "you're assuming pronouns" about an alien.

Qui Gon is probably the best written character in the Prequel Trilogy besides Palpatine.

I don't at all doubt that being the motivation behind this choice but wouldn't a mean babysitter just make this even more of an unneeded rehash? Besides not every kid in need of fairies has to have the same misery. Timmy's shitty life has to be some flavor of special right?

Why was the EVIL BABYSITTER trope so common in older cartoons? Every babysitter my sister and I ever had was nice. Even the one that we later found out was on drugs.

          >Dimmadelphia
They couldnt even get the name of the city right. holy shit. why?

Dimmsdale is too white, and suburban. Idyllic depiction of 1950s middle class life. Too unrelatable to the modern american kid, who is a 52%er living in some inner-city slum. The name of the new city (riffing off Philadelphia) tells you exactly the sort of setting they're going for; hip urban and multicultural. Bodegas and taquieras on every street corner, pride flags hanging from every window, and all police replaced with social workers. All of her friends will be some shade of brown save for the dorky loser token white kid who only exists to get clowned on by the rest of the group.

There's gonna be outrage about loser Timmy and his black female replacement, and maybe for Cosmo and Wanda's recycling instead of giving new beloved fairy(ies) a shot. None of that matters to me though. What matters is this looks like dogshit. Unnervingly flat yet rounded design with horrible lighting. It also just looks kinda cheap model-wise. If the visuals are done right, honestly I'm entirely on board for a reboot. If said reboot ends up shit or boring or unfunny or even the ever terrifying "woke" then it won't even bug me because FOP has been ass for years anyway.

Please just let this franchise die already.

      >Please just let this franchise die already.
I don't like any of these reboots but I don't agree with the notion that a franchise should just be killed off, especially one that initially had a ton of success.

If they said they were making a reboot that essentially just hard resets the show back to its 2001-2004 form, toonboom animation and all, return to the classic characters in their non-flanderized forms, mostly the same VAs (they might have to replace a few of the problematic grannies like Tara) and promises to not frick up character development, I would be on board and I'm sure many other people would. But that wouldn't signal any virtues, vanity any projects, or score up any resumes, so this franchise as it stands just exists to be picked apart in the most lazy way possible.

        Anonymous

It's not that I have a problem with reboots as a concept, I just really hate the way they're handled 90% of the time. There's a lot of franchises that were ahead of their time but because they weren't popular when they were airing they'll never get another chance. Meanwhile franchises that already had a decent run or ran for way too long get reboots out the wazoo. Like you said, there's also the issue with virtue signaling and pandering which is also why I'm soured on modern reboots and have low hopes for them.
I want more original, fresh ideas in the industry, more worlds to explore. But the industry wants to milk franchises until they're way past their expiration date and then some. They really should have taken a step back from FOP after that failed abortion of a live action series. If this fails I guarantee we'll be seeing yet another FOP reboot in less than two years time.

          >I want more original, fresh ideas in the industry, more worlds to explore.
We've been getting plenty of those lately and they all suck.
In fact, really the best new animation I've seen in recent months is the X-Men reboot, which follows a similar vein of what I described. If all else fails and every thing you've done since mostly sucked ass, just eyeball trace the golden age.

Take us back to the real Dimmsdale already, Nickelodeon!

Nothing is canon because canon doesn't exist and you take children's cartoons way too seriously.

The Canon in reality is that Timmy wished time to stop so he could be a kid with fairies forever so this reboot makes no sense at all.

          Anonymous

It ended because they were sick of it and then because he spent 50 years as a kid it turned him into a manchild who couldn't grow up. It's rather fitting for someone who wished something rather horrible on the universe.
