For a conservative, Christian white guy from a small town who creates cartoony, divinely-inspired works, Doug TenNapel sure is a fricking boring and dull artist. He's not sharing himself, other than his faith, he's just plagiarizing material from better cartoonists like John Kricfalusi and doing it worse in every way, while awkwardly shoving in religious allegories. Thanks to this thread I just realized Earthworm Jim's creator is the same guy who made Catscratch.. I dunno, OP, sounds like he has a good resume to me.
His inking is really energetic and soulful. I remember he went over his process and it's very organic, down to cleaning off brushes by sucking the ink out.
I've enjoyed his works regarding comics and vidyas but for some reason I can't get into his cartoons. Guess they just feel watered-down compared to stuff he does on smaller projects.
cartoons feel way more moderated than comics and vidya, so that's probably why

Biting this bait just to say Doug TenNapel's present day situation doesn't mean his old stuff is retroactively bad. Saying he was a dull artist who ripped off others is ridiculous. His comics were visually striking and he had a unique sense of humor.
