This >ate its own tail with woke shit >less cool space scenes after leaving the Apollo era >Only established characters are too old to realistically still be astronauts
What exactly is woke about it?
It doesn't present white people as evil or responsible for the world's problems
It doesn't glorify leftism or communism (like it shits on communism constantly with all how much the soviets frick up everything)
It has minority characters but none of them are mary sues and have pretty realistic flaws and failings. The only "woke" aspect of it is that there are minority characters which is only woke if you are either brainrotted or a left wing strawman of the right. >>less cool space scenes after leaving the Apollo era
The entire 3rd season was set on Mars, as is much of season 4. >>Only established characters are too old to realistically still be astronauts
Only reasonable complaint, I like Kinoman but he's unrealistically old for being on fricking mars at this point.
What will earth be like once they start mining that asteroid?
It was more than the woke shit for me, it's that they stopped caring about consequences in space. There was that scene where the ship collided but for some insane reason didn't kill EVERYONE. The relationshit drama went insane and then a character is just gift wrapped a station to keep them relevant to the story. I have also not like how the changes on earth are not focused on enough, some huge tech, industry etc would have had more impacts than a few riots. But the show tried to gloss over it.
I guess I'd say that it went from "realism" to "imagined fantasy future".

Also asking because I'm probably gonna check out either this show or Foundation with my parents over Christmas and I'd rather not put on gay shit for my dad. Which show do you guys think is better?
For all mankind is definitely better than Foundation
For All mankind does have a couple of gay characters in it but the main one is a lesbian, not sure if that's better or not for you.
foundation season 1 is ok, season 2 sucks
for all mankind is better
both have gay shit. if you a really worried about that upsetting your chud dad you shouldn't have him watching anything from apple
He enjoyed Silo (I haven't watched it yet) and Severance despite the gay shit, but even that is considerably tame since Christopher Walken refused to do any kissing. Speaking of that show, I was expecting the twist to be their outies were brothers and their sibling love had been warped by severance, but that's probably too nuanced for apple..
Use the internets to watch Emergency! or Mannix. Cannon is as real as it gets (without smell).

I don't mean the show, I mean the anons that hype up reacher because the only thing they ever have to say about the show is how much they like looking at him
This >ate its own tail with woke shit >less cool space scenes after leaving the Apollo era >Only established characters are too old to realistically still be astronauts
Never understood people who say this, the show is no more 'woke' than it started out. This season was more of the same but on Mars and the beginnings of asteroid mining and looking at how the Martian economy would develop and black markets would gradually spring up etc.
There's some anons who just attack any amazon show that gets posted

In one season, don't remember if S2 or S3, there was an entire multi-episode subplot of an illegal Hispanic making it. I guess if the writer was especially moronic she could have intended for the subtext also to have been "girls making it in STEM", which would be utterly tonedeaf for this show.
But yeah, the beaner plot was very pushed.
I just skipped through these scenes lmao. I am mildly autismal and this was the first time in my life that I just skipped through scenes.
Gotta show that even illegals, utter brats and druggies during schooling can still wind up in high 'government' positions. It wasn't just a STEM thing. And from what I remember nothing about her or her leadership warranted that fast paced promotions above others who'd been there for decades. Did feel like one of those affirmative action/nepotism things.
She didn't even work her way up there. Margo felt guilty for her daddy and wanted a surrogate child so she gave an unruly autist everything she needed and the autist ultimately ended up abandoning NASA anyway. I know its hard to write genuinely intelligent folks that makes for good tv but goddamn its silly if they think its good representation

Margo was written intelligently but her protege wasn't
all that irridium is going to mean next decade aka next season, theirs a full blown city on the moon, another space station or 2 one on the moon as well and they've started full on colonization of mars
What will earth be like once they start mining that asteroid?
who the frick is gonna watch next season ed baldwin is the only real character anyone cared about no give a frick about his viet daughter or the other girl.
I've been waiting a long time for Ed to die. The suspension of disbelief is super high for that dumb af jock / navy pilot / astronaut. No fricking way did anyone as stupid and emotional get that far. KILL HIM SOON!
That's because this show is always the same >first episode: high budget kino >second to penultimate episode: lesbian drama >last episode: high budget kino
Some guy in a basement should make a fan edit that only leaves the space scenes.
I will NEVER watch a show with dykes. gays are a meme and I never take them seriously but dykes are the creators virtue signaling and coombaiting for deranged people who goon at the sight of two females kissing. Reprehensible and disgusting.
>never cared about the danny drama which they're still milking >really obvious building up of joe schmo martian janitor to be the leader of the mars colony >really annoying bad old man makeup job on kinneman >ludicrous subplot with the nasa dork defecting to russians >mexican woman's acting is still atrocious
all in all not a single likeable character left
the only thing that's really interesting is the fact that pure greed might motivate humanity to start nabbing asteroids. once the numbers are crunched and the profit is clearly there it will get done, despite how difficult it is.
The moon is too close to reasonably ever become sovereign, especially in the show's timeline where they have nuclear fusion based propulsion and could get there in hours.
I mean the moon is a great first place to set up a colony, because it is closer to earth and can be used as a perfect launch location for missions into deep space, my point is just that it's not likely to ever become sovereign.
>What happened?
It should have turned into a horror show like Moon thanks to acute radiation sickness. Mars has no magnetosphere. The solar wind and solar flares would have cooked their insides. Frick this gayass show. They should have all been underground.

Nobody has the balls to do moon horror properly. I wish American Horror Story would have went there.

You realize that radiation is not magic correct? It can be shielded against and the amount of shielding necessary is thinner than you think.

It just looks cheap overall and not because it's meant to be a spartan environment .. it just looks like a cheap set.
I bingewatched the entire show in 2 days
Really good show, didn't expect to like it this much.
Watching the expanse next
Should i start with the books?
And?
Even if that were true (Big "If" btw) there is so much space and so many resources within the solar system that we could explore it for the next few hundred thousand years and still not have seen everything, there are enough resources to sustain trillions of people and that's assuming all of those people are mark 1 biological humans and we haven't built a dyson swarm.
You aren't thinking deeply enough
1:We might not be alone in this solar system
2: AI might effectively be an intelligent alien lifeform of human creation (And some will absolutely try to frick them)
3: We could probably create new forms of life via genetically engineering.
It's very easy to leave the solar system if you simply abandon humanity as we now see it.
By having, for instance, an AI guide a nuclear-propulsion (using nuclear detonations) ship with our DNA stored on board as data, it can easily reach nearby star systems. Then when it arrives it uses the DNA to gestate new humans for the colony.
If we ever make a leap to digitizing our minds (I think it will happen sooner or lateR) then it's even easier since such minds can inhabit android bodies that don't need "habitable" environments and can operate anywhere and in any configuration. And they would be able to go in and out of sleep mode for longer flight durations and not feel the passage of time.
And the benefit of both these options is that you can send 20 ships, even if most of them fail or malfunction some will get through and that's all you need.
Yeah I know, I was responding to that other anon who was being a doomer about humanity ever reaching outside the solar system.
I don't understand why people act like just establishing domainship over the solar system isn't cool as frick.
They managed to make the Moon colonizing thing exciting, fairly realistic and tense with sets that seem functional and authentic.
But the Mars stuff looks like out of some entirely different show. Baldwin's old man makeup looks abysmal, the intrigue with that old russian black market guy is laughable and the sets looks like a daytime tv production.
It almost looks like an SNL skit honestly.
it existed, that's what happened. even the people who could tolerate 30 minutes of bipoc/woman drama for every minute of space stuff have checked out by now.
Had a really good premise but increasingly jumped the shark

The new XO is a good dude, and he was right to tattle on Ed.
I like the North Korean. His character has stayed consistently kino even though he's somehow getting played by the grease monkey.
he's alright but had like three scenes so far and two lines between them
Should've stuck with Moon drama and increasing political tension surrounding it as it reaches soverign status eventually.
The Mars thing seems a bit cartoonish in comparison.
The moon is too close to reasonably ever become sovereign, especially in the show's timeline where they have nuclear fusion based propulsion and could get there in hours.
Moongay has been spamming is rhetoric a lot lately. Every thread he has a reason why the moon is better
I mean the moon is a great first place to set up a colony, because it is closer to earth and can be used as a perfect launch location for missions into deep space, my point is just that it's not likely to ever become sovereign.

Against the law to make Russia look good in any way.
Is she still in India or in a Russian gulag by now?
she attacked some nepo baby of the new ruling regime, she's been tortured to death in some KGB black site

Yeah I know, I was responding to that other anon who was being a doomer about humanity ever reaching outside the solar system.
I don't understand why people act like just establishing domainship over the solar system isn't cool as frick.
"Gordon is ALIVE?"
This autist keeps failing upwards. It's my only real gripe with the sow
"M-A-R-S, Mars b***hes!"
I had forgotten all about it, it's not a very good show.
> it's not a very good show.
Oh dear. Anyway....
kino
Never heard of this show until this season actually
Does anybody besides boomer neocons care about le Soviet Union and le Cold War?
They managed to make the Moon colonizing thing exciting, fairly realistic and tense with sets that seem functional and authentic.
But the Mars stuff looks like out of some entirely different show. Baldwin's old man makeup looks abysmal, the intrigue with that old russian black market guy is laughable and the sets looks like a daytime tv production.
It almost looks like an SNL skit honestly.
I'm still on season 3
Season 1 was pure kino, everything after that has been ok but increasingly boring.
They're all kino
Are there any scenes with gardens?
You like gardens huh
it existed, that's what happened. even the people who could tolerate 30 minutes of bipoc/woman drama for every minute of space stuff have checked out by now.
I don't start a season until the whole thing is out.
>Kinomann is a israelite
Dropped.
So how will they smuggle the wife to Mars?
Pickled in a kimchi pot.
Is it safe for those people to wear israeliteelry made from mars rocks?
