It's Kino.
>black man becomes biggest thief in history
>x gonna give it to you starts playing
I love this little homie like you wouldn’t believe
Really good actor. Pulls off the super smart kinda psycho CEO role well.
Scene where he breaks the strike with a bag of flour then it turns out he just wanted to see who was dedicated enough to not take bait for his heist was kino
I disliked his whole "This company works on dialogue and democracy" shtick in season 3 (not saying it's unrealistic just didn't like him) but he completely redeemed himself in my eyes during the second half of season 4. I hope he and Kinoman continue to cooperate
I think that was the point though, he probably believed his own bullshit. But like Karen said, he manipulated and controlled everyone in the room so it was just him making the decisions and putting a nice bow on it
I loved his “now I know what people are really like” character arc. He didn’t become some villain. He’s just realistic and knows how to filter the people who truly believe and are willing to sacrifice from people who’s priority is making some cash now
Plus the fact he was willing to do all this crazy shit and abandon earth forever (and likely get all his actual wealth seized afterwards) shows he isn’t just satisfied because he’s already rich. He’s like Ed. They wanna push mankind in a certain direction and the cost is worth anything,
The one scene with his mother was pretty kino. Him telling her she was wrong and saying goodbye
Yeah he's a man who's dedicated to his vision, I can respect that. It came off as naivety or even narcissism when they first introduced him but then you realize that he actually believes in it and it's not just an ego project
kino
>main actors name is literally Joel Kinoman
>makes kino
What about suicide squad
Shame I think those movies fricked up his Hollywood potential. For a swede he’s great at doing an American accent
Meanwhile Mads Mikkelsem is danish and cannot ever do any accent except danish
>What about suicide squad
First one is awesome, second one is shit. He also hard carries the Robocop reboot.
He's genuinely good as Rick Flagg in those films, easily one of the best parts about them though that's not really a high bar
>First one is awesome
Hi David, how's your Ayer Cut coming along?
Apart from the heavily mocked "THIS IS KATANA" scene, Kinoman is one of the best and most tolerable parts of Suicide Squad. The everyman who isn't trying to be a quippy meme factory the whole time
End of season time skip should've literally been this. Idgaf about some mining operation on a fricking asteroid.
that would be too much of a time skip for kinoman to survive and I want at least one more season with him
I think he will die season 5 finally being the first to do something
when season 4 started and the lady who worked at a bar all of a sudden was head of the SPACE HOTEL just so she can still be relevant to the plot, I just had to drop it and read wikipedia to see what happens
it had neat first seasons, but it jumped the shark when soviets invaded
that was season 3 and yeah it was definitely one of the low points of the show but then again everything involving Karen after she started smoking weed was a low point
I didnt even notice because the actress is very attractive
That was season 3. Karen’s plot has always felt the weakest. Definitely seemed like the writers wanted to keep her around but struggled to find reasons to
>buys the astronaut bar and franchises it so she has stuff to do - makes sense
>cheats with sons friends - weird and unnecessary. Could have cheated with literallt anyone else for same impact without the weird overtones
>marries rich businessman off screen who previously also married Tracey
>stumbles into owning space hotel because her rich husband dies
>she never even seems particularly upset her husband she seemed happy with from a decade long marriage died tragically
>finally gets killed off in most melodramatic way possible
I’d have probably had her gradually die of cancer or something in season 3 instead.
You're obviously a homosexual.
Been thinking about this show, might give it a try. Is it better than other alternate history shows?
I really enjoy it because it does alternate history without it straying too far from believability.
Starting point is
>Soviets land on moon first
>Americans were slower and more cautious after Apollo deaths
>now the space race continues, Soviet Union and ISA does not dedicate resources to stuff like invading Afghanistan, trying to maintain war in Vietnam, instead focusing on space race as it intensified over things like moon land rights, potential weapons in space etc
>Without straying too far from believability
Mate, the show is about how if NASA hired gays and blacks in the 60s we'd have gay republican women presidents now and Martian colonies and fusion rockets.
You say that as if it’s insane when
>woman who got elected president was a national hero
>got elected while pretending to be straight
>same as Bush, reached huge popularity over handling of major terrorist attack
Finished The Expanse last year and am in the mood for more sci-fi kino. Is this as good or better?
Less fantastical than the expanse. Very hard sci fi especially first couple seasons. Finding ice on the moon for example is a huge deal.
Lots of political intrigue like the expanse
Find by me, I can dig hard sci fi as well
It's a bit woke (feminism) but it's great. It's even greater if you like cold war intrigues
>woke
as in female president BSG style or what
I also inquire how pozzed this shit is before I fire up qbittorrent
You can fast forward over the woke stuff early on and you don't lose anything. By season 4 there is little to no woke shit. I didn't find myself skipping any of season 4.
>By season 4 there is no woke shit
There is like a single white character left by season 4, and he organizes a labor movement on Mars...
Based Miles
>fricks up the glowies in CIA and KGB
>Americans consider that white
EDS GON GIVE IT TO YA
what are some other alternate history shows/movies, ive seen high castle
It's interesting looking at some movies from the past with depictions of the future. From our point of view, they become alternate history movies. Stuff like Back to the Future for example.
This show has done a good job showing actual things with different applications. Things like high def Skype are widely available by the 90’s but the Internet as we know it doesn’t exist due to the Cold War never ending.
Does the show realistically explain how the frick is all this space colonization getting funded? This costs literally trillions with minimal returns unless someone finds some magic element in space.
The external wars like Vietnam and Afghanistan the Soviet Union engaged in get cancelled. Paranoia over the potential of the other side getting military bases and nukes etc on the moon lead to nasa and rosscom getting insane budget increases. Plus there’s a running subplot where the struggle between keeping NASA separate from the department of defense is a major factor.
By season 3 tech is advanced enough that private space industries are viable. Helios being the main one, financing the first trip to Mars in competition with the USA and Soviets
NASA has 1000s of patents that they lease to corporations like Helios and they are involved in helium 3 extraction on the moon making them self funded. in season 3 they say that they are making something like 70 billion a year profit and other parts of the US government want the money to go elsewhere.
Mining Helium on the moon. Also, they went in on nuclear rockets.
i've been looking at promo and i'm not sure I like all the women and minorities i'm seeing
too on the nose
it really is, the whole cast is basically women and the one with most episodes is a Black person
im deleting my torrent
>im deleting my torrent
why should we care you homosexual
because i'm the centre of the world
>racist is an insecure narcissist
wow. shocker. who could have possibly seen that coming.
Space Travel in incredibly boring unless you literally make up everything about it.
So Ed was arrested and executed after S4, right?
NASA cant do shit because it showed massive public fallout after all the NASA/CIA torture shit that happened on Mars was leaked.
It doesn’t matter. No government would tolerate what they did. Soldiers would be on the next ship off earth to mars.
They dont work for the government now, they work for Helios. Who can just tie you up in litigation forever. Also the NASA APPROVED TORTURE isnt exactly the best optics to have overhanging the entire fiasco and then you go and make it works by trying the villify the same people. Thats far too moronic, even for the US gov.
Not even NASA approved torture. CIA and KGB working together to torture the oppressed working class.
Mars will be THE place for people to try and build a new society. They brushed over it in the finale. But
>Dev is clearly investing his massive wealth entirely in mars for mankind’s future
>big migrations to mars for whoever wants it. Shows even the refugees of North Korea came in numbers
>Goldilocks asteroid means they have so much wealth and leverage no real chance of reprisal, and plenty of negotiating power to get various people permission to migrate to mars (maybe even release people like Margo so she can live on mars)
How would they intend to land these soldiers without their ships getting shredded before they arrived? They already demonstrated how easily you can stop ships arriving a place. The Soviets had the nuclear embargo on the moon in the seventies.
By the 2000’s there’s no realistic way they could attack mars without them knowing weeks (months?) in advance. By which time 8ncredibkt basic shit could be used to stop them
If Ed attacks the ships its full on war, and earth just sends a fleet of missiles at Happy Valley. Also, Happy Valley is not self-sufficient. They could just got off all flights to Happy Valley if they had to. Its absolutely moronic to think the world super powers would tolerate a fricking pirate king hijacking their trillion dollar mission, stealing their asteroid, and squatting in their trillion dollar Martian base with no repercussions.
>Also, Happy Valley is not self-sufficient.
They specifically said in season 3 they get 3 quarters of their food home grown on mars. And are energy snd material self sufficient.
By the next time jump why wouldn’t they be self sufficient?
There is no way they are manufacturing all the components they need and raw materials they need on a tiny martian base. Spaceflight is a huge undertaking. Are they mining/smelting steel on Mars? Fabricating their own computer chips and electronic components? Mining gold?
A big part of the season's plot was about how much effort it would take to develop the asteroid even after its own orbit. They projected youd need dozens of space vehicles and jobs for like a million people. Happy Valley would never get an asteroid development project off the ground without significant earth investment.
They already have 3D printing tech
It’s not a “tiny Martian base” in season 4. It’s a large complex.
The reason it would take so much to develop is because the earth gov’s would need to spend so much on ships to take all the way to mars to then mine, and then bring all the way back to earth.
Hence why they wanted to just have it orbit earth, minimise expense and what they’d actually have to build and do
Ed, Dev etc. knew bringing it to Mars orbit would make it cost way more, but also mean they would have no choice but to spend more to develop mars instead of twiddling their thumbs on earth
>let's science the frick outta those ruskies
What did he mean by this
I hope the show doesn’t stop with Mars. I want them to Jupiters moons.
has renewal been announced yet?
Those boobas and Gordo were my favorite characters.
But I appreciate that they made me care about the new characters somwhat.
Was Elon Musk calling out Bob Iger with "Hey Bob" actually a reference to For All Mankind?
Or was it just a random coincidence?
It's definitely a reference
Sad about Margot. I wanted to see her and her bull ride off to Brazil together. It would have made for an interesting S5 when the two of them have to work with a bunch of underfunded hue monkeys to race the US and Russia to be first to land on Jupiter.
Thing is she’s too old to reasonably contribute to the new science now. But I can see Ed/the new Martian government asking for her to be released into their custody on Mars in exchange for continued mineral rights from the asteroid.
Only reason to keep her imprisoned is revenge. There ended with her in a American prison so they’d definitely be more open to freeing her than the Soviets would
Bit of a plot hole really. Why did the Soviets rescind her diplomatic immunity to let her go to an American prison? Being free in Moscow seemed worse than an American prison lol. Thought they’d take her back to Russia to pull out her fingernails and shit
So if there is a next season, what will it be about?
Does it go full blown The Expanse?
STEPPIN' ON THE ROCK
DO DOO DO DOOOO
So was the NASA guy in on the Russian dude's death? Margot was flipping out on the Russian chick, and then he told her to sit down and they could talk about it. Margot looked at him weird and then walked off. I got the finally that Margot thought he was involved also.
I think she just realized that she was about to spill the beans in front of everyone, which would have ruined her chance to stop the asteroid, which is what Sergei wanted.
Listen to me, Milosh
The asteroid theft thing is kinda dumb. Wouldn't it take the same energy to move it back out of orbit than it took to place it there?
Not since gravity does a lot of the capture work, but if they have the tech to haul into orbit, they have the haul it out. It just takes a little more fuel.
It was called Goldilocks specifically because it only required a small nudge from its expiating trajectory to get it to orbit mars or earth
Most asteroids they’d be trying to mine would be free drifting or heading hard elsewhere. The first episode of season 4 showed they were far beyond that being a simple prospect. Hence why Goldilocks got called Goldilocks. It was just right
If that were true we'd just be stealing moons left and right from all over the solar system
