I'm sorry to tell you but the second Ultimatrix doesn't have an omnitrix core. It's just an omnitrix-looking stabilizer. Albedo's dna is glitching due to being resonated with Ben and his omnitrix so without stabilizers he will change forms periodically.

Other way around, tbh. The touch interface made much more sense in theory than the dial popping up, and that goes for all previous Omnitrix's, not just the Ultimatrix. Why would you want the watch's core, the most important piece, to be always exposed while using it?

My own pitch for the next ben 10 is to bring the road trip element back, BUT IN SPACE. Is basically ben, gwen and grandpa going around space looking for some macguffin or whatever.
Ben will learn more about his aliens and their cultures, maybe learn how they live, their tech and things that will help him fight better. Like, I have this idea that some races have martial arts pertinent to their power ben doesn't know, or have unique tech that he tries to implement or some of the more destructive powers actually have all those weird uses he never expected to use like that because he no idea of their culture.
The gimmick would be that the new omnitrix would change and evolve the more ben understood about the race and give him tech or powers related to such. Trying to bring back the idea the omnitrix is not really a weapon, but a tool for diplomacy to keep the peace by understanding their unique perspectives.
Road-trip in space was gonna be the next season of OV till they axed it. I do like the idea of reinforcing that the Omnitrix is supposed to be a way of unifying species and not a weapon

He probably still looks like Zs’Skayr, albeit a green tinted Z’sSksay, and for the chains I’ve got three thoughts on them. First is that it’s a visual metaphor that that transformation is “locked in” and Ben doesn’t need to be afraid to use him anymore, second is that the chains are molded off Ectonurite fashion and it’s just his uniform, and third is that it was just a design choice to make him look a little more spooky. Third is most likely but I like the first one the best, gives a little more depth to it imo

But DNA scanning isn't a gimmick the Omnitrix was always meant to archive all kinds of alien DNA you might as well try and argue that having any more than just the 10 aliens is gimmick.
I’d say it is but it’s a gimmick that had a lot of thought put into how it relates to the Omnitrix. It makes sense for it to be able to collect DNA, and we already knew there were other aliens thanks to Cannonbolt. It’s not like the Omnikix and Ultimate Aliens where it was like “What if the aliens had armor/were on steroids?!”
there is no functional or narrative difference between Ben unlocking Cannonbolt randomly and Ben meeting a Cannonbolt person and scanning his DNA to unlock Him either way it achieves the same goal of giving Ben a new alien.
Meanwhile the Ultimates,Omni-kix and Omni-enhanced alien are literally just "HEY KIDS remember that thing you like remember Ninja turtles well their back and in CYBER SPAAAACCCCEEEE!!!! tell your parents to buy our toys."

The OS is cross country road trip show you'd either have to shove them into the main cast in the rustbucket or get them to pop up randomly all over the states, and without all the retcons you might as well replace Sunny with Evil Gwen from the Evil universe.

Ken Tennyson was such wasted potential. He was canonically everyone’s favorite cousin. Ben worshiped him and based his whole bratty personality around his jockish charm. The writers said Gwen at an early age aspired to embody Ken’s optimistic dedication and chivalry. Hell, it was outright implied that her fetish for rebellious nonconformists was a Ken thing too. Ken was also canonically Max’s favorite grandchild too. Everyone’s always forgetting that Ken was that big of a character in the cast’s life. They all have off-screen day-to-day routines we rarely ever have staged for the screen ala It's Not Easy Being Gwen—easily one of my favorite episodes.
Now, had I my way with the character, I would have written Ken as the vanilla Plumber he was always meant to be. Having
him train up to be Max’s replacement would have been some arduous, off-screen character arc. Having him go peak human would have been a massive disservice to his character too. He’s supposed to be a painfully mundane person riddled with flaws. His character would have shined because his Tennyson flare would have propelled him past his failings. Tennysons are natural born heroes who deliberately choose the path less traveled. That they shitpost during the while bit is what makes it entertaining. He would have been a fish out of water. The running gag being that despite him not understanding alien customs to an autistic degree not unlike any normie in that position he would have chosen to do the right thing regardless. He’d be like James Darell (Will Smith) in MiB meets Star-Lord, but before the MCU fricked up his character. Some powerless normie who fights gods on a Wednesday and comes out winning.
That's not wasted potential that's the writers trying and failing to cover their asses pretending this complete non-character was totally there from the start
