For those of you that read superhero comics, what do you look for in a cape comic? Do you care about how something fits within a larger cape world/universe or do you simply want a great story with interesting characters and all that? If there is a case in which it's out-of-character and continuity, do you dismiss it as a mistake, or do you not care about that stuff? Do you go out of your way to read material that's not as good just to get the full picture or because of importance?
I feel like I don't like most beloved runs because I don't care about character or universe lore. I just look for at least decent writing, good art, and an ability for a run/series to stand on its own.
Frick Batman, Frick Superman, Frick all capeshit.

>Do you care about how something fits within a larger cape world/universe or do you simply want a great story with interesting characters and all that?
All I care about are well-written self-contained stories/runs.
>If there is a case in which it's out-of-character and continuity, do you dismiss it as a mistake, or do you not care about that stuff?
See above; it is impossible to have cohesive character or continuity in a universe controlled by dozens of different writers, hence why I prefer works from a single creator that involve no understanding of or input by other creators working on other stories.
>Do you go out of your way to read material that's not as good just to get the full picture or because of importance?
Absolutely not.
Somewhat like me.
I think it's best to never care about the characters before a story. Saves you the heartache, so to speak. I expect a good comic to make me care.
>Good writing, good story, faithfulness to character and continuity, good art, in that order.
Wow, good art that far back?
A great story can shine even with bad art but even the greatest art can't redeem a dogshit story. Look at the last 5 years of Batman for examples.
I don't anymore. I've read to much where now these characters‚ settings and stories just feel meaningless despite how much I cared about them years ago.
Okay Moore
The problem is that Superhero comics are a neverending loop of uselessness. Nothing in those stories matter.
Enjoy your ban, capeshitter.
>muh ban

Good writing, good story, faithfulness to character and continuity, good art, in that order.
>Do you care about how something fits within a larger cape world/universe or do you simply want a great story with interesting characters and all that?
Depends on the story. If the story is disrespectful to characters I like I'll hate on it regardless of how it fits in the larger universe.
>If there is a case in which it's out-of-character and continuity, do you dismiss it as a mistake, or do you not care about that stuff?
No, you have to get obnoxious about it online or the bad characterization will become the new characterization.
>Do you go out of your way to read material that's not as good just to get the full picture or because of importance?
Yes. I've gotta have my Batman.
Are you asking about people who read MODERN comics? Because those people don't exist.
This feels a little paradoxical, because normally a generally accepted standard of decent writing is consistent characterization.
I'm not too interested in comics as I dropped them years ago, but I really enjoy most of Superman's moments in DC casually.
>For those of you that read superhero comics, what do you look for in a cape comic?
Good action.
>Do you care about how something fits within a larger cape world/universe or do you simply want a great story with interesting characters and all that?
A great story, interesting characters, and storylines that don't last more than a few issues.
>If there is a case in which it's out-of-character and continuity, do you dismiss it as a mistake, or do you not care about that stuff?
I accept it as something that happens when a character has been around for a long time and has been written by multiple authors. I can put up with it if it's not too bad.
>Do you go out of your way to read material that's not as good just to get the full picture or because of importance?
No.

That's really how it should be.
