Frick Betty Boop, and frick NFTs.

We let Betty Boop win Miss Cinemaphile 2021... just so she could become fricking NFTs.

This is also a petition to make Johanna from Hilda become Miss Cinemaphile 2021.

Why does Cinemaphile act like morally insufferable NPCs whenever NFTs are involved? Especially when it's about dime-a-dozen projects that don't even matter like fricking Betty Boop NFTs? It's like b***hing about Funko Pops at this point.

If NFTs are in anyway successful you know corporates will begin thinking of ways to lock exclusive content behind NFTs. Everyone hates it for good reason, from normies and redditors to here.

But NFTs will be a pathway to 'exclusive' paywalls, like an NFT comic that only a limited number of people can access as long as they own it. NFTs as they are are so obviously fricking dumb and flawed, but if it means making a profit, then those interested will be finding ways to refine it and make it worse for the consumer. If you ask me it's probably already too late, but as long as public opinion remains sour on NFTs it will take longer for them to catch on.

The difference here is that those sites allow you to download and store the art you're buying on your own pc, making it yours. Some NFTs I've seen operate on purpose built websites in which your NFT can only be accessed on that website. You cannot download it or share it, you will literally just have a link to web page of your NFT that can be taken away at any time. Like I said, they will refine ways of keeping you from truly 'owning' the product, since it encourages the whole scarcity and value exchange.

                Anonymous

Many artists of those sites, especially Patreon, don't want you downloading and sharing paywalled content and will DMCA you if they see it uploaded anywhere. If they could, they would do exactly what you're worried NFTs will do, and your worries can still manifest even if NFTs died right now.

Like I said, paywalling content and slowly stripping ownership from users isn't a new thing (just look at Steam and how you only have the license or the "privilege" of playing the games you bought on their store), and instead of choosing to direct your anger at the corporations who have been doing this for decades, you decide to focus entirely on b***hing about .jpegs that don't even fricking matter. You're literally whining about a roach in your room when your house is on fire.

I'm well aware that these practices exist and yes they are equally terrible, but NFTs represent the next step in those tactics, were instead of it being hidden in the small print, the lack of ownership is basically half the 'appeal' and is being pushed as something to embrace. Should NFTs fail, subscription based services and digital licensing would be next on the chopping block if I had my way.
