You want to start? Maybe post some thoughts? get the conversation going? I mean what kind of discussion do you really expect when you just say "___ THREAD!" It's not that I'm against the idea but Jesus Accelerating Christ you could at least share an opinion or something. Do you even have any? Is there any individual thought rattling around in that empty head of your? I mean I guess you're better than all the buttholes who constantly ask "IS IT /M/?" But not by a whole lot. Post an episode you watched, a character you like, say ANYTHING. Good lord even a "002 is cute! CUTE!" would have been better than this pile of nothing.
Wait, 003. Eh frick it it's out there.
002 IS cute though
Who's favorite among the gang?
>someone makes a thread with a brief post like OP
>"god at least SAY something!"
>someone makes a thread with a general question/basic conversation starter
>"why do you homosexuals insist on asking the dumbest shit why does this thread even exist???"
Repeat ad nauseum
make up your mind or just ignore
Or maybe, just maybe, you actually have something not moronic to say.
>passive aggressiveness the post
or you could just not be an obnoxious homosexual that kills threads
thread was dead on arrival, it's become subject of the necrobumper now
basically a zombie thread
Thanks for killing the thread homosexual.
It’s black ghost anon, they will do whatever it takes to destroy the cyborgs, even by means of derailing threads as mental combat
A shit thread like this never had a leg to stand on to start with.
>Thread still stood for nearly two months
>no discussion at all
>just necroboomping
Wow great thread bro.
The weird 'was it magic?' episodes of the 2001 series are some of the most fun.
wasn't one up already
Which one, because clearly that didn't get much attention as this one.
I've never watched it, is it good
Yes.
Nice I'll check it out
The manga is probably the best way to start, but the 2001 adaption is kino. 1970s show is my favorite (OP animated by Kanada no less!), but it takes place after the manga story is complete & it began airing when Ishinomori got off the fence and continued the manga.
But if you absolutely lack the patience for reading novel/comicshit these days, watch the 2001 show and later do the 1979 series.
The 60s show is also decent I hear, so it's worth checking out too.
>The manga is probably the best way to start
Is it fully translated?
Unfortunately by Tokyopop - I hear there's scanlations coming soon but don't expect those to be out anytime soon.
TokyoPop covered until the manga's original ending. Volume 10 iirc.
The uploads on MangaDex go up to volume 19.
Link?
https://mangadex.org/title/596bae2a-6a5b-4975-8e5e-1dd44393eaaf/cyborg-009
Here, I'll be nice this once.
Thanks.
Is it better to read everything there or start with TokyoPop and switch after Volume 10?
What do you think is so great about the 1979 series? I found it ok at best, it's my least favorite of the 3 shows.
Even more-so than the 60s show?
The 60s show has it's own primitive charm.
>Black cross army
So that’s what these guys were up to prior to making their enemies gorenger lol
The Masaki Tsuji episodes of the 60s are better than anything in 1979. When they’re not so great, they’re about the same level of the average 79 episode.
I can't take his dumb ass smile seriously
I really need to pick the show back up. I got to the invisible cyborg. I was amazed how good the dub was, probably one of the best.
Go for the 2001 anime It's bonkers
The frick happened in that final arc with gods and monsters?
Favorite Cyborg?
For me, it's 004
002, because he's a brash butthole but he means well. 004 is a very close second.
I'd take both over the CGI entries, easy. While I can kinda understand wanting to update things for a more modern look, Call of Justice in particular probably would have sat a lot better if it looked like vs Devilman instead.
Did anyone else watch the Skullman anime that turned out to be a 009 prequel? The only torrent I found that worked was only being seeded by one guy in Brazil, took fricking weeks to download. Fun series, though.
It's not a 009 prequel. That's just fan service and it does the same for many other Ishinomori's stuff. This is like saying Giant Robo is a sequel to Babel II, it's total bullshit.
so like the skullman manga?
As a kid watching 009 activate mode 2 was hype as frick.
Now all we need is Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman vs. Mazinger Z: Japan Super Heroes All-Out Attack.
2 Nagai series
1 Ishinomori
Nah
I just started watching the 2001 show; really great so far.
For over six months now, I've put Cyborg 009 down in the Seven Seas survey. Maybe soon.
Never could fathom how anyone could find this weird looking shit watchable. It looks ancient but is modern. Filtered me pretty good.
>modern
>1964
I saw it on toonami in the early 2000s. Looks weird as hell with those dorky characters design.
I can guarantee none of the crap you were watching on Toonami will stand the test of time and still be relevant 50 years after its creation.
Ok boomer
I bet you like cuphead dumb burger.
Tourist.
Do you reckon we'll ever get a full official translation of the manga? Shit, I felt like it was a miracle that the 2001 anime got a release from Discotek
20962613(You)
So how well did the new series work out? Can we expect more?
I can't research anime for the life of me so I have no idea if it was just some sort of anniversary thing or they were banking on some sort of new series.
Also, for me it's 004. Those finger machineguns are fricking sick.
What new series? Call of Justice? It was better than Re Cyborg plot-wise, but the cgi rag-doll type of animation turned a lot of people off.
Anyone have a nice schematics of the 009 Dolphin ship?
I read that one new manga, and absolutely hated the story. It was a bunch of nothing, a golden goose chase with no result, and no real enemy
What new manga? This one? It's not even over yet.
The Re:Cyborg one
The Re manga is ass. Don’t even know why someone bothered to translate it and not focus on the OG manga itself. They stopped right before it entered the best late 70s~80s era.
Looks off, but cool in a wa-
>that 003
>that 006
Frick no.
What the frick is this abomination?
It was a scrapped plan for a western adaptation, with character designs by the guy who did Aeon Flux.
If you know you know.
I know that show is garbage.
Do you think the Skullman series is some sekrit show?
It's literally the only anime adaptation.
It also was a huge mess that i wish was alot better.
The 60's anime is charming, but why did they make 007 a kid?
iirc, he got stuck like that in the manga too for a while.
Why does the Rightstuff released Bluray seem so off? I know its a SD on Bluray release, but going through disc 1 right now feels brutal. Because I loved the premise watching it weekly back in the day.
A crossover with Kamen Rider would be interesting. Takashi and Hayato hate being cyborgs while the 00 cyborgs accepted what they are.
There was barely any drama with Hayato. And the cyborgs do have issues with their bodies, what are you talking about? At least equal amounts of acceptance and rejection from both sides.
Anyone seen the dub for the Super Galaxy movie? Mike Toole stuck it up on the Internet Archive and it's fricking hilarious, they made 007 Irish (name changing to "O'Shaughnessy") for absolutely no reason and it's loaded with all sorts of bizarre shit.
How do the other movies rate?
Still have my VHS copy. Defenders of the Vortex. Done by the same company that did the horrible Nausicaa edit that pissed Miyazaki off so much.
Is the Tokyo Pop release gone? It was up on Comixology for the longest time but now it's not there.
What do you guys think of God's War?
Personally i didn't liked it as a conclusion for the manga, even ignoring the mutilation the tone felt different from what Ishinomori used to write.
Everything after 009 and 002 die falling to Earth like shooting stars is fanfiction.
>fanfiction
>by the guy who fricking created the series
kys
What are those black ZX clones?
Was Ishinomori a liberal?
Has anyone confirmed what the Jap blurays look like, or if they're based on the shitty Discotek upscale?
The Discotek BD is an upscale? I thought it was just SD on BD, with some minor touchup on the lesser material?
Discotek release is SD on BD, and clearly advertised as such. It's not even an upscale.
The artwork in Battle of the Gods is peak Ishinomori, but the story still baffles me.
What is the best series to watch after the skullman?
You should not watch Skullman to begin with
This statement is correct, very few /m/ related titles are on that level of bad
And I say that as a fan of Ishinomori. Skull Man is fanfic-tier garbage
Should I watch it?
Yeah
