Strange they thought she would be more defined as a twin. Back in Adventures, she was her own person. Now, she's just Buster's sister. Or Sweetie's room mate. How ironic.

No, I totally agree with you. I actually like Tiny Toons Looniversity. It's fun enough, and it doesn't feel like it hates the shit out of Tiny Toon Adventures like the Animaniacs 2020 reboot feels like it hates the shit out of the original Animaniacs. And I know that bar is low as shit, but the bar is where it is.
But it doesn't change the fact that in Tiny Toon Adventures, Babs was the star, Babs had the bigger personality between the two. In Looniversity, Buster is the star, Buster has the bigger personality between the two. It's just weird because TTA had a male showrunner, and TTL has a female showrunner. Or maybe it makes sense because the showrunner focuses on their crush, I don't know.

Worse animation for sure, they switched out the sort of skit format for a longer format story that's still contained to one episode it's sort of hit or miss there and up to you. They have some of the voice actors back but it makes the ones that are absent feel really absent like Montana Max. Core cast is mostly the same but they've done updates to their personalities and carry nothing from the previous series save their basic character designs. I think the only thing they still kept wholesale is the WB Orchestra for their music but that's only on paper and I can't really point to any music from this series that sounds as nice.

It's hard to not make comparisons to the original series when they align themselves so close to the original by virtue of reusing the characters.

Also something I didn't mention but might be worth noting is the humor isn't as good. Old school had the style of having a joke that different ages would get different laughs out of but this one is firmly in member berry territory where it's exclusively for the elder millennial market.

Modern television writers are entirely incapable of writing comedy that works on multiple levels, mainly because they struggle to write connect that works on one level, and their idea of humor tends to be pointing out something they think is bad and then implying it's the viewer's fault and they should feel bad.

You're talking about Tiny Toons Looniversity. That anon was asking about Animaniacs 2020.

Imagine a way it might, and it did.

            This, but

I haven't seen the new Animaniacs, but how does it shit on the old one?

I think the biggest and most specific thing was that it killed off all of the characters in a really nasty pointed way three times. This would have a different feel to it if not for the fact that they didn't invite Tom Ruegger or any of the other original writers back (and according to some stories didn't even tell them they were doing a reboot) and they were all apparently pissed off about the whole thing and said so on social media.
First they didn't bring back any of the Animaniacs cast except for five characters and explained that (yes really) it was because almost all of the characters had been murdered and showed their heads stuffed and mounted to a wall. Then towards the end of the reboot they had all of the cast get sucked into a hole. And then they had the Warners and the whole Earth get hit by a giant meteor and the series ended with the Warners screaming that they were going to die. And that was it that's the last time you saw them.
Some interviews with the reboot showrunners had them talking about how they did not like the original Animaniacs.
The five characters that they did bring back were hateful, sociopathic, angry versions of themselves that hated each other. While the original show did have a bit of a cynical edge SOME of the time and LIGHTHEARTED cartoony slapstick, it also had a genuinely joyful and fun spirit with moments of sweetness and heart and was meant in part to be enjoyed by little kids, even though their parents were also supposed to be able to enjoy it. The reboot forgot all of that and tried its hardest to turn it into Family Guy. It definitely was not all bad despite what I just said but those problems definitely made it hit or miss and sour as all Hell in a way the original show just really fricking never was.

          Let's give an example:
The last episode of the reboot says the characters and concept are tired and worn out, they bring back a fan favorite for one episode just to say she should never be brought back, and the grand finale is straight up killing off the main characters
And there's no exaggeration in any of this

            Anonymous

Yes this too, and yes this is not an exaggeration at all.

You forgot the part where they hold up pictures of two additional female characters that they didn't bring back and then had Dot angrily crumple up those pictures up and throw them away in yet another short. It never stopped.

They also had a whole Pinky and the Brain Christmas special to shit on/make fun of the heartwarming Pinky and the Brain Christmas Special that was the only Amblin animation to ever win an Emmy that everyone was so proud of back in the day and turned in into a gorey gross out joke about Pinky bleeding the words "Merry Christmas" into the snow.

I still hate that we got a lame generic theme school rival instead of a interesting school rival like Perfecto Prep, or maybe that school Lexi bunny went to in Loonatics unleashed. Could bring back the crossover schools like OK KO

I think the school rival was making fun of Spongbob toons. Kind of like how Adventures made fun of Disney as Perfecto Prep with Roddy and Rubela as Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I didn't get that as a kid. Read about it years later. Not sure if its true. I only remember those rats in that smoking episode. I thought that was pretty edgy because even the manliest characters from GIJoe were never shown smoking.
