I can't even totally blame people for this one. It's a drag for like 3-4 hours of intro episodes before it finally gets good + it's Korean.
I've never used netflix or even been to anyone's house who uses netflix.
Just exactly how many (new/original) shows do they run?
Seems like I'll see a post for a netflix show I've never heard of being cancelled at least once a week.
I read somewhere that netflix has in their contracts that after 3 seasons or so people get payed more. So they just cancel the shows no matter of how popular they are, because they dont want to pay. If the shows are popular they create a new spinoff thing instead
My personal conspiracy theory for why it was really cancelled is because it could be interpreted as a "white savior" story, but I have no evidence for it.
I remember them saying it was because it was 'too expensive' to shoot. With yhe money they have now they could easily make more seasons. I still watch Marco Polo and I'm still mad season 3 will never happen.
I thought that was way over the top when I first saw it but apparently Marco really does claim he introduced trebuchets to Yuan China. Definitely they got them from further west, though probably from Persians. And mongols did for sure have troubles with sieges.
Also shocking was the alpha queen mongol warrior woman that will only lay with a guy that beats her in wrestling and is undefeated is another based on actual historical accounts. Almost the assuredly the real story must have involved more post fact historiography or political game throughs but still. I thought it was them being proto-pozzed but no.
Uknown if asian girls had white fever in Marco's day however.
Keep in mind that there is some doubt whether Polo's account is accurate, we don't have a lot of ways to verify it and there are some historians (though not the majority of them) that argue he made everything up based on accounts of China he got from Persian traders who traveled to Italy from China.
>Uknown if asian girls had white fever in Marco's day however
He would have been a fairly tall, exotic, foreign visitor to the court, in service to the Khan of Khans. He would have pulled unbelievable amounts just by being different and therefore interesting.

Some doubt, but there’s also plenty of accurate detail in it that he likely couldn’t have gotten without going there.

>the book: he trafficked in warmachines >the show: he invented the warmachines
Hmm. I think this is a level of historical inaccuracy that I can accept. I might watch this show
This one genuinely pissed me off. Haven’t gotten into a single Netflix show since it’s cancellation(besides Narcos). Netflix is the new Fox in terms of canceling a bunch of shows before they even find footing.
Let's be honest, it got cancelled cause it featured a pretty white guy going to a foreign non-white people and doing important history-changing stuff for them and having their women lust over him (even cucking their heir to the throne).
The guy who played Marco is Italian and speaks with an Italian accent, his choice of roles is probably pretty limited when it comes to American productions.
S1 was probably one of the few legitimately good things on israeliteflix. Jia Sidao was an amazing villain. It's a shame that israeliteflix basically cancels anytihng that's good and leaves only trash in its wake.
>no kino season 3 about the kamikaze absolutely shrekking the giant Yuan-Korean armada >no kino Marco tries to survive being the next victim of the Ghost Of Tsushima story arc >the stinger at the end of season 2 was some Assassins Creed bullshit about hidden Templar Illuminati anyway
Well it was fun while it lasted
I still remember this scene
maybe one of the few which reflected the horors of mongol empire. in times of Genghis and Batu Khan, it was this times 1000
Do they even mention Batu in the show? Just once? I don't remember
Ahmad was a moron, accidentally incest was ultra-jewy >NO ONE WILL EVER SEE THE MURAL IN MY OFFICE OF ME BETRAYING THE KHAN AND SUSPECT ME OF BETRAYING THE KHAN
Frick you Netflix
This is the most deserving cancellation in tv history
I've never used netflix or even been to anyone's house who uses netflix.

billions
Remember when the old media establishment tried to sabotage this thing critically by claiming it was too diverse or some shit?
I agree.
I’ll never forget this, there is hope it will return. It’s because Fincher wanted to work on Mank.
fincher is cancelled in hollywood
Marco!
Underrated show
Pretty based show. They were already using the algo bs about only doing two seasons though.

What was the official reason for canceling it? Low viewership?
It was really fricking expensive IIRC.
My personal conspiracy theory for why it was really cancelled is because it could be interpreted as a "white savior" story, but I have no evidence for it.
It's funny to think they just spent $200 million on The Gay Man.
I hate netflix so much

MARCO...
>it's a Marco invents the trebuchet to help the mongols bring down the Song dynasty episode
I thought that was way over the top when I first saw it but apparently Marco really does claim he introduced trebuchets to Yuan China. Definitely they got them from further west, though probably from Persians. And mongols did for sure have troubles with sieges.

He was the first European to go to China is what he did. He was a brave Italian explorer. And in this board, Marco Polo is a hero. End of story.
>End of story.
No. Question everything.
not him but it's a sopranos reference
How. Had they just opened China? Like some kind of theme park? He was not the first European to go to China.
I got your reference anon.
There was a tribe of israelites in China long before Marco Polo visited, so he was not the first one

Cum Q Vine
It was shit.
Filtered.

Sigh. S2 vaporware.

What happened to the other actors? Only seen Benedict Wong and Jingum in other stuff after. Never seen the dude who played Marco since.
The guy who was Marco Polo is an italian actor who didn't even speak english before taking the role
The guy who played Marco is Italian and speaks with an Italian accent, his choice of roles is probably pretty limited when it comes to American productions.
Overall alright but that blind monk being some super goghter was one of the cringiest, most anime-tier shit ever

>Marco Polo
>Mind Hunter
>Dark Crystal
Netflix canned its only 3 good original shows.
Messiah for me
carried by benedict DONG
early netflix creators were actualy trying to make good shows
Woke began here
and it was fantastic
When would you say the point where they began to focus on woke shit was?
>no kino season 3 about the kamikaze absolutely shrekking the giant Yuan-Korean armada
>no kino Marco tries to survive being the next victim of the Ghost Of Tsushima story arc
