Film nerds love it because it's technically brilliant (there are youtubes) but the ordinary muppet only liked it for the flamethrowing guitar guy and the chastity belts.
My personal opinion, using the feminist bullshit to cover up the fact Tom Hardy is difficult to work with cast a pall that it never recovered from and all the technical brilliance in the world doesn't change that. I suspect George Miller will get a good performance out of Ayy though.
The reason Mad Max: Fury Road is about Furiosa played by Charlize Theron is because Tom Hardy straight up refused to do his lines. Half the shots are deepfakes of his stunt double because he would show up late, if at all, and usually either drunk or hungover. The scene where he and Furiosa meet for the first time Max only grunts because he "wasn't speaking to" Charlize.
It's my understanding that his behaviour on the set of Venom wasn't much better because he hates capeshit and he only pulled the finger out when Sony had all but recast him with the guy from Upgrade and that's part of the reason why it's basically a ripoff of Upgrade.
They don't. Look at his imdb. He went from 4 projects a year to 1 if he's lucky. It's Venom and Mad Max, both of which would be scandalous recasts, and a guest spot on Peaky Blinders which he would have only got because he's mates with Cillian Murphy.

It really stuck out like a sore thumb, especially in a movie that's essentially a bunch of women being repeatedly saved by men risking their lives and dying for them for no personal gain whatsoever, barely even a pat on the fricking head
I watched the movie in theaters and it was just an incredible film with the visual effects, the sound and the score. It felt like one of those rare visceral experiences that stood out from the crowd, probably because of all the cool stunts and work they did with all the cars. It just felt different
Well, if they film it in a fun way like Fury Road it might be ok to watch. But a lot of what i find fun about the Mad Max series is the titular character who is often silent throughout the film, and is taciturn for a protaganist. I feel like it will lose a lot with a new, likely chattier character. It might also just be straight up horrible, which wouldnt shock me at all. Every franchise is going to burn. The Hollywood flame is instiable.
