I've never in my life met anyone who actually likes or watches the big bang theory. Im 100% convinced it was a show created for the sole purpose of giving elderly people background noise to have a TV playing in a room their not in to give them noise in their otherwise silent house.
I haven't met anyone physically, but we used to have this 30 yo in our team chats while playing during the hype of the game of thrones run who would get extremely angry that everyone was talking about the plot enthusiastically, citing that ''GoT sucks ass, Big bang theory is the most cerebral show there is'' And as we shrugged our shoulders he huffed and left the call, still chuckle about that shit sometimes.
my "i'm such a nerd lol" normie friends loved the big bang theory and the office. these are the same people who compulsively buy nintendo products, collected funko pops, and made facebook events to watch new marvel movies together. in hindsight it occurs to me that they were all midwit females with makework office jobs which seems like exactly the kind of mindless consumer who attaches to current popular thing. a few of them had legitimately nerdy husbands though.
