Zoomers and shitskins cannot laugh at friends because the jokes, while not considered high brow at the time (or even now), are above their heads. There is an entire episode about Chandler tricking Joey into using the stage name "joseph stalin" and how Joey is too stupid to know who that is. There's another one where he spends the whole episode reading an encyclopedia about the Vietnam War so he can talk to the other friends about it, then Ross changes the subject to the Korean War which ruins Joey's plan. Do you think the average zoomskin can tell you who Stalin was or what the Korean war was? No. They would feel like the butt of the joke watching these skits
The funniest thing is Friends was extremely progressive for it's time but zoomers are convinced its "bad" because there's only a handful of black characters on it.
I can't think of any other show that would even touch something like a Lesbian wedding in '94.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Friends. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of political theory and history most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Joey's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Friends truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Ross's hilarious catchphrase "We were on a break!," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kauffman's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

It showcases real classes of people and makes fun of them (nerds, incels, roasties). From around season 3 it becomes friends 2.0 with all of them having relationships and generally less mean spirited (good) humor in the show.

Friends is alright, there are a few decent jokes and the general atmosphere is welcoming. Mid-show Ross when he's single and the writers make him into a comedy side character going around NYC having funny encounters and side plots is legitimately hilarious at times.
