Crazies (original) was pretty good and George Romero’s most underrated movie. I like how they portrayed the perspective of the solders trying to get the situation under control. It has a lot of cheesiness and is a little all over the place.
The Crazies (remake) is a much more straightforward movie, with more action. It’s really only told from the perspective of the town sherif, so it’s easy to follow. Also a lot more action and gore too.
I wish more zombie/survival horror movies focused on the military aspect. I just don’t they get it quite right.
i thought it was a fine movie. obviously for 2011, its kinda tame considering the disturbing rep the original had. one big thing about the remake was its casting. pretty big and strong cast for a film with that type of content.

i think respectable actors that have been in some major roles was a nice addition to the film.

Yeah it wasn't anything special but I loved that era of horror. Watched House of Wax last night and had a blast

i think the remake was pretty forgettable but pretty hyped.

I think the big deal at the time was Paris Hilton got killed in it.

Don't undersell it, boy. Chad Michael Murray famously cheated on wife Sophia Bush with Paris Hilton (on set). It led to the dissolution of their marriage.
After that, CMM started fricking an underaged extra on "One Tree Hill". Dude is a legit bro.

I gossip like a b***h, but if you're a CMM or "Heroes" fan, you should watch the Crackle series: CHOSEN.
It's got a few 00s heartthrobs in it.

My Dad and I rented the Kate Bosworth "Straw Dogs" and I was surprised he told me it's a remake of a classic (I'd never heard of it). Then my old man kept griping about what they were doing wrong, like how the rape in the OG film was more consensual. He said she kinda deserved it and it added a layer to the characters/story.
That's what I remember, my kid brain was probably focused on the sex/rape part. Anyway, I watched the original recently and it's so fricking good. And Dad (RIP) was right, the wife was basically begging for it.

Andrew Tate was right.
I have the OG Fright Night queued up after I tried watching that new vampire film last night. It was basically Fright Night, but a girl vampire. It just made me mad that I wasn't watching the original classic. This thing was a fan film. Already forgot it's name, it was a VOD Friday post.
This is better than the original thougever. The protagonist in the original was annoying as frick and the vampire acted like a date rapist. Farrell was a far better vampire.
I love the original Fright Night and Part 2 but I remember this remake of the first being extremely disappointing, just like The Thing prequel that came out around the same time. I even thought the Nightmare on Elm Street remake in 2010 was superior to both those films. I would say the best horror remakes for me were;
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Evil Dead (2013)
I laugh every time I see that poster
being crushed to death by a Jeep is scarier than this
it was a good movie. saw it and didnt even know it was a remake. The Hills Have eyes and TCM first two remakes are also good.
Dawn of the dead too. That era had lots of good remakes
The Crazies (2010) was based also.

right, and The Hills Have Eyes remake.
Last House on the Left remake as well
>Last House on the Left
i didnt think this was that good. surprised so many people watched that movie on imdb votes and ratings.
What did you think of the Straw Dogs remake?

Colin Farrell did a good job despite the CGI
the weird bits where he turns into a monster for a second or two looked like last minute add ons
for a not well known horror rec, i can recommend the Barge People 2018.
The Thing was a remake too.

Attack of the philtrum
the first Evil Dead remake was good too. surprisingly good and intense.

It was RoboCop reboot tier

Worthy remakes?
Maniac
Cape Fear
Mother's Day
Zoomer trash.
