Future of the Reevesverse, The Batman...

There are a few parts of this that aren't 100%, but I've been hearing a lot of buzz around the possible future of Matt Reeves' universe for The Batman, and his vision...

Gunn and the rest of the creatives at DC Studios were able to reach a compromise with Matt Reeves to ensure that they're both able to guarantee their visions for their respective films. There are certain characters that they will not be able to use for a few years and some that they're able to use in both series. They will make an effort to let the general audience know that The Batman is an Elseworlds and is not connected to the larger DCU.

The Batman II is nearing the end of the writing process, it will be based off of the Venom storyline. The ending does lead into the third movie, which is planned to be the epic showdown between Batman and the Joker. I know a lot of people were disappointed to see that the title for the sequel would just be 'The Batman II', but the title will have a subtitle. They haven't decided on one, but there are a few in the running. Very shockingly, DC's new management didn't intercept with the development of the second movie too much. There will be a long gap between The Batman II and The Batman III however, to ensure that Gunn and co are able to establish Batman in the DCU with Brave and The Bold and start planting seeds for their epic Batman saga.

The Arkham Asylum HBO series will be approached as an anthology series. Each episode will focus on a different Batman villain, most of them B/C-tier characters, and how they ended up in Arkham Asylum. Most of them will hold a grudge against Batman because of this, leading to a riot and them breaking out of Arkham Asylum in the final episode. Yes, this is what leads up to the events of The Batman III. There will be an episode devoted entirely to Joker's backstory, think similar to Alan Moore's The Killing Joke except a bit more modernized and altered to fit better within the Reevesverse. (1/2)

While I haven't heard too much about Penguin, I've heard a lot about an unannounced prequel HBO series focusing on Bruce Wayne in his very first days as Batman. While The Batman was pretty early on in the Batman mythos, this series would be much earlier. He would be in his drifter outfit for the majority of the series, donning his Batsuit towards the end of the series. Bruce would be trained by Henri Ducard in the series. (2/2)

no, this is what I want because The Joker should meet The Batman when he's fully in the unhinged prep-god mode that transcends everything. Hell, make Joker a Venom dealer because he recognizes how much it means people "cheat" and how he gets into Bats because he kicks the drug and makes a hack to frick over Venom users.

Oh frick do you remember that """rumor""" that Pattinson fricked Kravitz on the Batmobile and Reeves found them? It was hilarious seeing people report on it and citing Cinemaphile as a source

I love that they didn't use that take because it made Bruce seem to cool. Reeves commitment to making Bruce an autistic man child who doesn't know how to talk to women is so cool lmao.

Yeah. I'm not sure how much I believe this but I've been told by a couple of people that they were initially in talks to have it be Hush, but they were told "no".

      [...]

We're 100% not getting Robin or any other members of the Batfamily, minus Gordon. The plan is for Brave and The Bold to feature the Batfamily, and they don't want to use them in an Elseworlds until the DCU has their Batfamily established first.

      [...]

Exactly. And given the circumstances, Joker won't be the only villain. I'm expecting Zsaz and others honestly to show up in Batman III as side villains after the Asylum breakout.

Since DCU is going in a family-friendly direction (i.e. pg-13) what are the odds The Batman II and III are rated R? I remember a lot of people, both fans and casuals, were hoping it was rated R. And you know they want that Catwoman sex scene

Eternals was able to get a sex scene, no nudity of course but thrusting was seen. It's not like their comic sex scenes have penetration depicted visibly.

I'm going to be honest. Even if Brave and The Bold only has Robin and Nightwing for a Bat Family. I would lose interest in Reevesverse solo Batman stuff.

I've seen people say that Leslie Grace should be Reeves Batgirl and just flip the races of her parents, and I guess I'd prefer that to having her racebent in the DCU too, but I think the only reason I'd ever hesitate to racebend Jim is because you can't racebend Barbara, but they already racebent him, so I say frick it and just make any Reeves Barbara fully black.

Didn't Reeves say he didn't want Joker as a movie main antagonist? That's really the only issue I have. That and subtitles, sequels tend to go through number eras and subtitle eras, and now that we're in a subtitle era, I miss numbers.

I feel that Damian is such an endgame character (he's best with Dickbats, and that only works with dead Bruce) that the best reason for starting with him is that Reeves already called dibs on Dick's robin, so they wanna keep that Robin's age as far as possible from DCU Nightwing

          >We're 100% not getting Robin or any other members of the Batfamily
I wouldn't say that, unless you're reeves. The otherside of the coin of reeves being independent from Gunn's plans is that Reeves should be able to use some concepts that Gunn might too. Just like he can use the Joker even with the Joaquim Phoenix series active.
The thing is, Robin alone is different from being a part of the batfamily. It's the dynamic duo. The partnership. Batfamily is once you start having others, or Robin as a mantle.
Do I think Robin will be a big part of the movies as an active hero? No. But I do think it's possible we see Dick and Bruce starting to train him, and maybe Dick wearing makeshift gear to help Batman in a climax though.
In another sense, Reeves easing audiences into Robin conceptually might help pass on the baton to Gunn having a robin; and even though it's not in the same series it gives some context if the new DCU has Dick as Nightwing

    >The Batman II is nearing the end of the writing process, it will be based off of the Venom storyline
I know the vial he takes at the climax was labeled as just adrenaline in the concept art, but retcon it as Venom, an experimental form of steroid/adrenaline.
I doubt we'd get Bane again, but I can see forshadowing that him procuring some and his general activities in Gotham get Bane's attention
I'm curious if Reeves will do a time skip since they were so prominent in the apes movies, but even if they don't I do think they'll hint that he's got future confrontations instead of just ending his story at 3.
But here's the thing...assuming these movies take 4-5 years to make, Pattinson is going to be in his mid 40's by the time this possible "young Batman" trilogy is over.
