As for the beauty of Galadriel and Luthien, I think the book says that Luthien is the most beautiful thing ever existed, period. Galadriel however is said to be the most beautiful among either elven queens or most beautiful among Vanyar and/or Noldor race. So overall Luthien might be prettier but Galadriel should be up there as the number 2.
