    >they threw off Popeye movie for this

I've seen the leaked animatics for the movie.

It would've had generic pop songs and shit and was basically onpar with the hotel Transylvania movies in terms of quality.

Still better than whatever tf this shit is though ig.

        Anonymous

The animation would have elevated it for sure, and that might have been a version of the movie where they were trying to be safe/generic enough for Sony to greenlight. That’s my cope.

        Anonymous

The leak was a rough cut, so they could've always substituted original tracks for the pop songs used later down the line. Pretty sure I heard a couple John Williams scores in there, as well. Wasn't amazing, but I found it fun for a modern Popeye feature.

I'm expecting the neutering is being played as a humorous analogue for death; like a movie about a human character who suddenly finds out he has a fatal illness and has X months to live. What to do with the time that's left?

Spear gets 3rd degree burns on his entire body after fighting the fire guy. As he lays in his little stone hut dying from the excruciating pain Mira comes in to give him a hand job. Then she mounts his crispy burnt body and rides his charred sausage until he cums in her and then dies

              Anonyrnous

I thought anon was referring to Fang giving birth. Not sure if Fixed will be able to play off female nudity in an arousing manner, but they could totally do it in a comedic way. I just want to see female anthros that'd make the Baltoh animators blush

So this really was the only thing he came up with. What a waste of talent.

I get that Genndy wants to be unique and bold in his approach, but making a 2d movie about a dog’s balls isn’t gonna bring the medium back

So... what compelled Genndy to make a movie about a dog having his balls chopped off? Why did he choose to do this story of all things?

I recall him having 20 pitches but it's hard to get anything made. This could just be that one the execs approved of, who knows how many great ideas he has that just don't get picked up because the people who decide decide it doesn't fit the market.

Adam Devine, Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn Lead Voice Cast of Animation Wiz Genndy Tartakovsky’s R-Rated ‘Fixed’

    >The film’s unique combination of naughty and nice has attracted Adam Devine, who will voice Bull, and Idris Elba, who will take on his buddy Rocco.

    >They are joined by Bobby Moynihan (voicing Lucky), Fred Armisen (Fetch), Beck Bennett (Sterling), River Gallo (Frankie) and Michelle Buteau (Molasses), as well as “Hotel Transylvania” alumni Kathryn Hahn, who found a whole new dimension in Bull’s love interest Honey.

      More details:
      >The film will be completed by September
      >Genndy co-wrote the script with Jon Vitti (classic Simpsons writer)
      >“In 2010, when I pitched it to Sony, we still needed a concept. Then, lightning struck. Right in that room, within five seconds, I went: ‘They find out one of their friends will get neutered!’ Everyone laughed and that was it,” Genndy recalled.
      >“Like ‘Lady and the Tramp’ or ‘101 Dalmatians,’ but rated R. If you can look past the balls and the buttholes, you will find a very sweet, charming, sincere story of friendship and romance.”
      > “Fixed” celebrates the glories of 2D hand-drawn animation: "It has become a lost art. These days, everything is computer-generated. It was my dream to do this." Genndy calls it "a love letter to Bugs Bunny or Tex Avery, or even 1950s Disney."

Yes, Genndy made Dexter’s lab, moron-kun

This could've looked slightly less silly if Genndy was responsible for how the characters looked instead of a Spumco alumni

This show almost has it, but it feels like it's pulling in so many directions with the aesthetics. Half the characters look Fleischer inspired, many look modern then that elf guy looks like he's an Ishinomori character. There are all these hallmarks of traditional animation but it's got this overbearing, murky digital coloring and lighting that doesn't match that at all. You got tiny bits of fluid frame by frame contrasted directly with simple digital tweening and animation loops. It just looks strange.

He said something similar in an earlier interview too.

        https://www.pastemagazine.com/tv/adult-swim/primal-season-2-genndy-tartakovsky-interview/
        >The animation is turning out to be top notch. It’s cartoony, but it still has a sense of reality because the dogs act like dogs. They don’t act like Yogi Bear. We’re following the 101 Dalmatians and The Lady and the Tramp rules. But then some jokes and some visuals are very raunchy, pushed all the way. But because it’s hand drawn, it’s done very nicely. If I can be so crude for a second, if you can picture CG testicles, there’s something very gross about it, because you can put in all those extra details. But when it’s hand drawn, it’s such a caricature that it’s kind of still cute.

        He also said:

        >It’s funny, because in the beginning we couldn’t get a studio to work on it with us. When they read the script, they thought it was X rated. When they were reading it, they’re picturing everything. But when you think about a rated R movie, it’s a suggestion of the inappropriate, and we’re doing the same thing. It’s a R movie, so we don’t show penises. Anything that a live action movie won’t show, we don’t show either. But I had to literally go through the script and write the way I’m going to execute it. They were like, “Our animators are not going to draw a dog penis, I’ll tell you that right now!” And I’m like, “What are you talking about? Of course, there’s not going to be that!” I’m not a gross person. You can see anything I’ve done and it still has, I think, good taste.

          >no visible penises and potentially no veganas either
That’s a relief, but I don’t get it, south park showed dog penises yet it wasn’t X-rated, a penis was briefly visible in anomalisa and it also wasn’t X-rated, penises show up in R-rated animation every so often yet they don’t move the rating beyond R, so why would this be the exception? In any case, I wouldn’t be surprised if we still got multiple female dog nipples

            Anonymous

It depends on the context, pretty sure you can't show an erect penis in a sexual contest in an R rating but a flaccid dick is generally fine.

But if it doesn't have adult content then is even an adult animation?

        Anonymous

You can have mature themes or content that simply wouldn't appeal to kids to adult. Alternatively you can have sex and violence(see Anomalisa), the problem is these kind of movies have literally nothing else to them. It's just cynical sex and gore jokes for 90 minutes, and that gets old when nearly every single film in that very small genre is like that.

          Anonymous

What do you mean by mature themes? Because a lot of kids shows have mature themes such as growing up and loss and responsibility and shit, but they seem like appropriate stuff to show you kids because they're not provocative.
Besides, Fixed is going to still have a story about a dog valuing his life before he gets his nuts cut off. I doubt it's going to be NOTHING but nut jokes.

People need to stop equating "age restricted content" with "adult interests"
The first is about content that children should not be watching, the second is about content that children have no interest but adults do.
Think, for example, a story about a middle aged couple breaking up. You can make this without showing any explicit bit, but it is still a story that appeals mainly to adults.

Because it isn't a kids show. It's one of the few cartoons that obviously appeals to a teenager to young adult demographic that also isn't absurdly vulgar.
Yeah, it is rated safe for older kids, and some may find it funny, but they aren't the focus.

I just don’t think this topic works when you humanize the dogs. Like neutering a dog in the real world is fine because it’s a measure to prevent the canine population from exploding and it’s a dumb animal. As soon as you make that dog capable of higher thought, the concept becomes barbaric

    >aw man (dog) dude you gotta go out for one last wild ride, man (dog)
Is not a foreign concept to a human but it usually isn’t followed up with

Descriptions of a couple of scenes from Slashfilm:

    >In an early scene, set near the beginning of the movie, we meet Bull (voiced by Adam DeVine), who is just going to town, humping the brains out of ... Nanna's leg. When his owner catches him, Bull goes on a rampage around the house humping everything and anything he comes across, from the couch to a purse to a bowl of yogurt, like his life depended on it. Tartakovsky's sense of comedic timing from his work on projects like "Dexter's Lab" and his "Looney Tunes" inspiration is on full display. This is the closest we'll get to Chuck Jones making a raunchy comedy about dog balls, and it is a sight to behold.

    >A second full clip from the film introduced Bull's friend group going to the park, although it's a far cry from a similar scene in "101 Dalmatians." Instead of fancy dogs and their owners casually walking around, all the dogs in the neighborhood rush out to the street, desperately screaming about how much they need to pee, run, take a crap, or just hump things. The dynamic between the dogs is fantastic and it really sells "Fixed" as being more than just a one-note joke. There are hints of a heartfelt comedy about old pals recognizing the end of an era, but also enough room for a gag involving dogs chasing a squirrel down the street before tearing it into hilariously bloody bits (in addition to attending a shady nightclub full of debauchery).

They should've released at least one clip because I'm still not too keen on this movie. I have no doubt that the animation will look good, though.
      >This is the closest we'll get to Chuck Jones making a raunchy comedy about dog balls, and it is a sight to behold.
I just know whoever wrote this article didn't know any other Looney Tunes directors to name.

I always felt like it being called "getting fixed" was creepy, like that's saying it's how it's supposed to be. I guess it's more like a shorthand for "fixed up" now though. It still feels weird to say sometimes.

I’m a simple man, if you make a 2D animated movie I go and see it, even if the premise is this god awful. Hopefully this is more Ren and Stimpy and less Sausage Party.

Despite the fact that this is 100% some kind of intentional flop for israelitey tax purposes, there's an above 50% chance it'll make way more money than Fixed.

Sausage Party is something about MUH SEX.
Literally every other adult animated movie is about MUH SEX AND VIOLENCE. A Rick and Morty movie would be no different.

Fixed is also MUH SEX but it also deals with the tough topic of being castrated and basically an ennuch. It has the potentiol to be 'brilliant' or to be yet another lame adult animation.

In Sausage Party, religion bad because it's a scam created by your masters to convince you to die for their benefit.
I'm surprised more people didn't go for the based and redpilled interpretation a la Angry Birds.

I'd see it to support 2D animation, but there is no way I'm forcing my parents to sit through a movie about a dog's balls. I'd legit have an easier time trying to convince them to see that new Paw Patrol movie.

anyone else starting to believe genndy is an actual not memeing unironic hack?
I mean when you get to down to it.. his most quality work isn't even fully his. the Clone Wars from 2003.
Primal had a good thing going on, but he fricked it all up with the 2nd season. I don't even know who the frick is the audience for that Unicorn show. It's all over the place from the visual style and tone, it's obnoxious.

      >anyone else starting to believe genndy is an actual not memeing unironic hack?
Not at all. Genndy’s got the street cred to get an original 2D animated adult feature funded by a major U.S. studio, and he’s using the opportunity to force his fans to watch cartoon dogs have an orgy. I respect that level of trolling.
