Holy shit, all of a sudden the last 20 years of Green Lantern comics make perfect sense. Especially everything that's happened to Hal, AND everything that's happened to Kyle.

Hal's Emerald Attack Team. Back around 1995 or so a group for Hal Jordan fans that got so butthurt about the Emerald Twilight storyline where Hal turned evil that they, empowered by early internet, went full NOT MUH and started taking out ads in industry mags and harassing shop owners. Supposedly one nutter even called in a bomb threat.

No it wouldn't be for the best, Kyle is the only GL with potential due to being an artist exploring his emotions, Hal is stuck in the same story over and over because his premise is very limited. Hal should stay with parallax just like Barry should stay in the speedforce.

He wasn't needed. John, Guy, and Kyle are all better and more interesting characters than Hal much like Wally was more interesting than Barry. Hal and Barry's problems are being Whitebread Hero Guys whose "personality" is just being generic heroes with nothing interesting about them. Hal would go or periods of time not even being used all that much. The DC was not a lesser place without Hal Jordan and there's more value to me in a story of Generic Heroman losing it after his idyllic Silver Age world is destroyed before eventually finding the goodness he'd thought dead to find redemption with his final act. It's also a better testament to Hal's willpower and heroism than a thousand stories of Hal doing something "badass," that he could fall so far and still pull himself back up and go out the hero he truly was becoming, in essence (as the Spectre), the heroic spirit watching over the DCU and an almost Christlike figure.

Dude the Spectre was DC's intransigence to go back and undo ET. Its no different than keeping Jon as a homosexual adult despite the fans not having it. Geoff knew it was a consolation gift so that nobody would see Hal as a psychopath who murdered his friends but its impossible to buy it when you have to take into account what got him there in the first place.

        Anonymous

That's not fair, the Rainbow Spectrum brought in a bunch of fun characters like Saint Walker, Arkillo, Bleez, etc.

The only real problem is the Blue Lanterns. Without a GL present, they're totally fricking useless, but with a GL around, they're absurdly OP, neither of which is great from a writing standpoint.

            Anonymous

That's not Geoff or the GL's fault, that's DC's own fault for not doing anything with their cosmic setting. They put all their cards into the supernatural with Vertigo but that died out and its only Neil Gaiman carrying it with Sandman.

      >Excerpts from the Justice League Panel at the 2001 San Diego Comic Con:
      >Bruce Timm: He’s the most controversial character so far from what we’ve been gathering on the Internet. When the show’s lineup was first announced, there were a lot of people saying, “Why aren’t they using Hal Jordan? No, it’s got to be Guy Gardner. No, it’s got to be Kyle Rayner.” Obviously, we picked the wrong one, but the reason we did choose John Stewart are various—I think they’re all valid. Right off the bat, I’ll just say it: you know we did need ethnic diversity in the Justice League. We felt that the show is going to be seen worldwide and I think having a member of the Justice League who is not just “Mr. White Bread” is a good thing

John was former USMC. He's done more than Hal, Barry, or Batman have done in their civilian identities.

Hal is an ex-Air Force pilot. He’s done more than the crayon eaters John worked with.

I get it. You don't like him because he's not Hal.
                >And his character consisted of being a no fun authoritarian in a team with fricking Batman and Wonder Woman.
The lighthearted members of the team were Wally and sometimes Hawkgirl. Having a personality you disagree with doesn't make him a bad character tho

homie I didn’t like him because he’s boring. If not Hal as the GL rep, then Kyle or Guy. Those guys actually have personality.

Nah anon, John was literally the lamest character in the DCAU he was only there to be the straight man to better characters hijinks. He was as interesting as watching paint dry

His relationship with Hawkgirl goes directly against the very core of her character

The fact that he got into a pissing contest with Bendis is quite funny.
