I remember this one called Nothing. two guys live in a tiny town house (they aren't gay, this was the 90s) and then one day they wake up to find that the entire world outside their house is gone. just... nothing. I thought it was pretty good.
I own that on DVD. Bought it from the last video store in town when they were doing a "once it's not news, it's for sale" situation.
Also, it's freely available on youtube, if you can handle the compression artifacts.

I don't care much for Zero. Telling the story from the perspective of people monitoring outside and trying to explain a bunch of stuff about the Cube's purpose ruins the whole horrifying 'bureaucracy gone mad' concept of the original.

Because it's absolutely terrrible. Not trying to be contrarian, I was actually looking forward to this, but it's so much worse than the original it's mindblowing.
The acting is atrocious even for japanese standards, the dynamics between the characters don't work at all after changing almost everything about them and the final twist is so fricking moronic it made me actually lough out loud. It tries to up the original and wants to be "so much more out there!!!" and completey misses the point of the simple elegance that came with the OG cube.
Watch it to see that even asian cinema can frick up remakes too.
