I don't consider anything from the flash animation Arthur to be canon. Most of it is written by millennial writers who barely watched the early episodes and tended to either forget or retcon shit to suit their agendas. Not to mention shoehorning in their political ideologies.
A friend of mine married a cop and he once told me that the only guys who become cops are bullies, the guys who were bullied or kids of cops (who are likely bullies). I asked him which he was but I didn't remember his answer.
It's quite weird for me seeing DW as a cop because in several of Arthur's imagine spots (especially the Dr. Katz parody from one episode) his sister DW, DW 's freinds and Arthur's own friends are exactly like they're usual child selves when they're teenagers and adults with DW still being obsessed with Ponies and being a brat.
