Given the shared spiral motif and the success of True Detective Night Country (TDNC), is there an outside chance we could see more direct references to it sharing a universe with Saw or even a full on crossover? Would you want to? Judged on its own merits, I thought Issa Lopez's TDNC was actually great, and I'm excited to see what she'll do in the new Detective and other upcoming horror projects.

All I can say on this matter is that JigC rocks.
Some of the editing and pacing in TDNC would be really cool applied to the Saw universe, and vice versa. They both have a quick, frenetic thing going on. And I will say that the finale of NC could have had Hello Zepp playing when the Inuit women were getting revenge on the scientists for killing Annie.

My interpretation is that she poured herself into both of the leads. In some ways, I think that Danvers and Navarro represent different sides of her. This is how most good writers work anyway because it helps you write from a place of understanding. That being said, from the interviews with Issa I have seen and read, I don't think these are the only sides to her, so she should still have a lot to draw on for Season 5 or NC2 or whatever it winds up being or other horror projects. TDNC is looking like a major career springboard for her, so it will be interesting to see what she does next. Honestly, I think she would be a pretty natural fit to do a new trilogy in the Saw series and I think that has the potential to be incredible.
I hope she does what Navarro did and kills herself

Did you really watch the shittiest season of True Detective and come away thinking Issa Lopez would be a good fit for Saw? She's shown no ability to deal with action and her suspense stuff was laughable. On top of all that, the big mystery and twist of her show was completely awful. You REALLY don't want her anywhere near Saw unless you're prepared to have an awful time.
I think people will come to appreciate TDNC more with a bit of time and distance. People hated 2 and 3 when they first came out because they couldn't stop judging them compared to S1. And Saw has shown that it can go off in weird directions. When the series has been at its worst (Saw 3D), it's been because it became a repetitive, cartoony version of itself without adding anything. In TDNC, we see shades of Seven and Saw 1, so I think that Issa could be a good choice to potentially do a female take on Jigsaw, whatever that character would be called.
