wtf was wrong with Joseph Michael Straczynski? Lennier managed to go through the series keeping his dignity and then he gets an episode (or was it movie?) where he turns into a turbo-incel school shooter
You're exaggerating. It was literally just a moment's weakness, he saw an opportunity to remove his rival and his dick took over. He came to his senses in time to undo his mistake too, but Delenn had already seen what he did and he couldn't bare the shame of it.

That was down to the influence of the Watchowskis. JMS himself doesn't seem very sexual. He's so autistic that he separated from his wife because he wanted to be alone, but still financially supports her. He must have some rare type of autism that doesn't stop him from understanding people, because he writes great characters and their motivations and interactions make perfect sense.

They weren't sure there was going to be a S5 so they wrapped up the series in S4. When they got S5 they had to basically tack on plot to fill it out. The S5 series finale was filmed as the S4 season finale. That's why Claudia Christian was in it despite leaving the show at the end of S4.

>I understand this but why write it the way he did?
Because he wrote S1-S3 with a plan, had to change the plan in S4 and then change it again for S5. He still got to tell 95% of the story how he wanted to tell it though. But all those changes affected the quality.

Sure but even with all this outside meddling you would have thought the season would have took up to the events leading up to what we saw in War Without End and then the stuff afterwards before Sheridan dies/ascends. Instead it's weirdly stuck in the years and years prior to what went down on Centauri Prime in WwE, and with events that weren't all that captivating to watch. The stuff with Londo finally becoming Emperor and the forgiveness scene and all that is stuff I'd have thought would have been far early in the season rather than like the last 1/4
Kind of, most of the sets were in what used to be a bathtub factory. And apparently when it was hot weather the place stank to high heaven because all of the toxic materials used for waterproofing had seeped into the building.
The thing is all the early cast deaths weren't associated with it.
Sinclair - extreme paranoid schizophrenia that he'd been struggling with beforehand
Franklin - aortic dissection
Zathras - motorcycle accident
Zach - prolonged pain killer addiction
G'kar - cancer from being a chain smoker for years
So what are you gonna do, Mollari, huh? Blow up the island?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
This is really excellent corned beef. You have to get just the right mustard - the brown with the seeds, not the yellow kind, and not too much of it! If there's too much, it irritates the corners of my mouth. Oh, would you like some? I know they haven't fed you since you got here, that's at least two days. Besides, it's lunchtime. Isn't it? ...Isn't it lunchtime?

I believe JMS studied psychology, and that episode is all about classic interrogation methods. It's a small act of kindness to get you to identify with your captors, it's a small concession, to try and get you to agree with your captors, and it's a small concession for a small reward, you compromised yourself for half a corned beef sandwich, and you claim to be a moral authority?
I watched a B5 blooper reel the other day and Boxleitner flubbed a line three times in front of Kosh. The actor in the Kosh suit just gave a sad little shake of his head and it was the funniest fricking thing I have seen in ages.
Babheads understand.
How did Babylon 5 have such a convincing set compared to DS9 with one tenth the budget? B5 had a lot of cool unique areas and felt like a real place. DS9 just had the promenade and Quark's.
yes, but i don't mean just the station that felt small, everything felt small, when they had the war with the Defiant and all that, it always felt small, they never showed the the ship around a huge star like Star Trek usually does, maybe it was a style decision
yes, but i don't mean just the station that felt small, everything felt small, when they had the war with the Defiant and all that, it always felt small, they never showed the the ship around a huge star like Star Trek usually does, maybe it was a style decision
or when they traveled to Bajor they just did a shot inside the shuttle, and then teleported to the planet, they never showed the scale of space, approaching the planet and all that
Trek was never about that honestly. Ergo teleporters.
in TOS, TNG, and B5 they still managed to make space feel big, if TOS and TNG specially always had those big shots of the Enterprise around a star, in B5 despite the shitty CGI space felt darker and more ominous but that fit the setting, not sure why in DS9 it felt so small, still enjoyed it though, just an observation

in B5 hyperspace felt downright menacing in spite of the shitty CG, actually flying through it in a Starfury would probably be terrifying IRL
that one scene where they chain the Starfuries to guide the explorer ship back to the gate, and then a shadow swoops in and takes one of them out and disappears into the "fog" before anyone gets a good look at it gave me nightmares as a kid
meanwhile the wormhole in DS9 gives zero sense that you're traveling outside of the universe through some unknown dimension, it's just an over-the-top lightshow that seems to lack continuity
the only thing that ever came close to the sheer spookiness of hyperspace in any Star Trek show (aside from VGER, but I don't think that really counts) is the pitch black space in Where Silence Has Lease from TNG season 2
but even then, as soon as it's revealed that there's an intelligence behind it it loses its edge somehow

TOS really feels like a horror series sometimes, too bad the other series couldnt capture that tone
I don't know, I haven't even seen DS9 in full and have just begun to watch the show. Love Ivanova, love Kira, don't know why we have to pit the two against one another.
I love B5 but i feel like its the opposite. B5 you can see the walls move and shake sometimes when they open doors and shit. The overall aesthetic is great but I think the production desing is higher in DS9.
Agree with both of you. B5, especially season one, lacked the professional slickness of the DS9 sets, but it still managed to give a better sense of place and feel larger, which it had to as Babylon 5 was meant to be a much larger station than Deep Space Nine.
The two things that really stick out in B5 are the computer interfaces, which were chunky by today's standards, and the excessive use of paint treatments on the walls that were trendy at the time like stippling.
Think most of Babylon 5's computer displays were made with contemporary computers, probably an Amiga, while the LCARS in Star Trek were physical props.
How come Garibaldi's I AM ITALIAN moments/remarks were never obnoxious as Susan's I AM RUSSIAN AND israeli moments were? The actor was more charismatic? Or guess cause he's Italian-American so believable as one, unlike the obviously American and non-Russian actress for Susan reminding everyone constantly of what she is obviously not
Sorry I worded that wrong. I know Doyle wasn't Italian-American but he's believable enough as one. The American actress for Susan with her American accent going on about being a Russian isn't the same.
Because Jerry Doyle was raised around Italians and cpuld replicate their swagger accurately. There is no such thing as a Russian israelite, only a Russian and a israelite, Claudia Christian was familiar with neither and just did a halfassed Russian larp.
>Understand this, /misc/lari, I can never forgive the Chudtauri for what they did to my trans sisters. My community will never forgive yours. But *I* can forgive... (You).
Yeah. When I first watched it, I didn't like him because of the sick kid episode. I agreed that he overstepped. But on re-watch, I can understand his perspective more, and now I'm not sure.
I loved it as a kid. Underwater trek basically. Not great not awful.
I recently found out the actor that played cute smart kid in it killed himself soon after.
Bros, I finally watched it. I loved it and cried like a b***h during "Sleeping in Light". Haven't watched anything after that though, so need to watch the movies and Crusade.
Are they worth it?
Also, after hearing that JMS wants to do a reboot, what are the chances it'll actually be a sequel? I feel that Sheridan didn't really die, but rather was taken somewhere to kind of put his essence on ice, as if some day it'll be reborn in another body, mostly unaware of who it was before. I got the feeling that this "reboot" could partly be about that. Perhaps Delenn and Sinclair, too. Three important people destined to meet and change the fat of their people.
No the movies range from average to suck. Better to leave your last memory of it with that. Watch the movies a couple years from now when you have an itch for more b5 content before starting your second watch of the series.
Crusade is fun you can watch that just try to think of it as it's own separate thing.
JMS has called his plans a "reboot" and the main character will still be called John Sheridan. Though it's looking unlikely it will go ahead. Bruce Boxleitner is still in good health but dunno how it could be a proper sequel with the actors playing Delenn and Sinclair both being dead.
>Set many, many years after B5. Lets say a thousand or so. >New races, lots of history, etc >Part of the story could focus on 3 characters starting to have flashes of past lives, whatever >They're new characters entirely, but a reveal could be that they are Sheridan, Delenn and Sinclair reborn into a new bodies
Why would they be born into new bodies? Dunno. Why is it called Babylon 5 when B5 is gone and there were no more Babylon stations? Dunno. Just throwing out ideas. Doubt I even want a reboot as watching this show meant so much to me. For me it beat Farscape as my favorite sci fi of all time.
Anyone read any of the books? I recently bought the first Centari prime trilogy.
Yeah that could work, anon.
I've read the Psi-Corps trilogy and the Centauri Prime trilogy and enjoyed them both. I'd also recommend 'The Shadow Within' and 'To Dream in the City of Sorrows'. Both canon and both kino. The first one is about the voyage of the Icarus to Zha'Ha'Dum and the second is about what Sinclair was doing after he left in season 1 and before he returned in season 3.
Excellent. Sounds good, man. Also, I watched the new animated movie after the series. Really didn't like it. I'm glad JMS made something B5 related and that all the remaining cast are having fun, but it just didn't feel like B5. The books may be a good route for me. I plan on reading them once the kids have been put to bed. Comfy times, I think.
if you like babylon 5 they're extra content worth giving a chance but the show is generally better overall
the movies are more like hour and a half long episodes that drag on
Lenier was naive and a simp, but his honor and competence always put him above that, that episode just kind of erases it and makes him go turbo-incel mode
its such an oddity that smart scifi like this is essentially dead. you get something like Expanse which starts promising, then, even before amazon, becomes a pandering vehicle for social media addicts
If B5 had been made today it would be no different. It's just not possible to make good scifi or good anything really anymore. Everything has been poisoned by politics and atheist religion of social justice.
Production costs have declined in real terms so in theory there should be more diversity in offerings now but that's not the kind of diversity that's blessed by the secular religion. Until the commissars are dealt with, not much of value will be produced.
i mean, babylon 5 is very political, but not in reference to something current. you can read into the narn and centauri from more than one angle. its timeless.
Before shitphones and social media and the 24/7 news cycle politics was something you picked up and put down and went on with real life. It didn't worm it's way into every facet of our lives with an unending stream of homosexuals and big brother trying to control your every waking thought. B5 understood this and used politics correctly.
The B5 that would be made today would not and it would be a poor reflection at best and in reality we know it would be a horrific mockery of everything that b5 stood for. Our greatest nightmare would be a b5 remake attempt. There would be surer sign that the shadows have won than that abomination coming to fruition.
Nah, Expanse is awesome and just a more realistic version of B5. Only thing missing is the alien ambassadors and just because they decided to go with the 'ancient aliens are dead' mystery route. Don't be upset just because there's brown people and downtrodden. The Narn are just the damn Belters.
Putting the expanse together with b5 in the same position would be a crime punishable by execution in a just world. Never post here again you are trash.
The Belter stuff was fine. The Naomi-Marco-Filip shit is what sucked donkey dicks. It had nothing to do with them being brown. There were tons of brown people before that storyline, especially Belters, and those parts were often good. We didn't need multiple seasons of a Thanksgiving dinner tier family argument. Make them light skinned, blue eyed and blonde and the story would still suck.
There are a few in the ballpark but b5 will probably forever stand alone atop the mountain.
Best I can suggest is farscape or the first two seasons of battlestar galactica.
ok so
the rights to the reboot were bought by the CW
then the CW got sold to some new conglomerate who put a hold on new projects
so the reboot is up in the air and nobody knows
i'd rather they not do anything instead of something shitty
Apparently a bunch of little moments got cut from the initial UK broadcasts on Channel 4. 'TKO' was dropped entirely from S1, so maybe they were just trying to save us
yes, but once somebody points it out, it's very clear, also awesome that the actor managed to be so menacing while being a manlet with a fricked up arm
i couldn't find a video on youtube highlighting it, but his left arm/hand seems to be useless or have a fake hand, you can see sometimes when he is holding papers, he is putting them under his elbow, never using the left hand, maybe also when charging his gun? it's not highlighted on the episode so you just have to pay attention
yes, but once somebody points it out, it's very clear, also awesome that the actor managed to be so menacing while being a manlet with a fricked up arm
without a doubt, B5 and farscape are two of the few scifi shows that successfully pull off a long burn plot arc (also battlestar galactica), andromeda is fun too if you liked all of those but it's a bit hammier and the quality is overall a bit lower, while still being fun as frick because kevin sorbo is a gem
>Are you in the Rangers? >Am I in the WHAT? >Whatever you wanna call it, "Anla'Shok" >That's total crap, who told you that? >Dad, I've lived on-station all my life, I've seen the Nightwatch come with warrants, I've seen Whitestars docking at 3 in the morning- >So? You never seen a Narn freighter dock at 3 in the morning carrying them special flowers? >Do Narn kids ever find religious tracts and a Minbari quaterstaff while they were hunting for Easter eggs? >I'm an Earth-Minbari interpreter, everybody automatically assumes that you're a religious nutjob... it's a stereotype, and it's offensive!
it was a damn shame, there was so much well written personality to lennier's character that developed very naturally, he and vir are my two favorites after londo and g'kar
>claudia christian fricks off from season 5 >for the spoopy halloween episode we get captain sex candy's dead heroin junky gf instead of ivonova resurrecting marcus to tell him how she felt
>claudia christian fricks off from season 5 >for the spoopy halloween episode we get captain sex candy's dead heroin junky gf instead of ivonova resurrecting marcus to tell him how she felt
>want to post about Leyton in a Star Trek >look for a Star Trek thread on Cinemaphile, there is always one >there is no Star Trek thread >but there's a Babylon 5 thread
dwight shultz is in an early season episode. there of course is also the g'kar episode in Enterprise where he is a leader of a higher tech humanoid race and the episode in TNG where he plays a romulan. lets not forget jeffrey combs as well and many other guest stars across the whole scifi-tv-sphere. its always a delight to see
i cant imagine how modern cgi fests in media just drag down your ability to immerse yourself in a role as an actor. the sets are faked in computers, the costumes, the props, nothing ever looks real to audience and crew alike.
There's so much you just don't get. Like there are moments in B5 where you can tell Katsulas is emoting barely-suppressed rage through nothing more than his eyes and the faint creaking of leather from his costume as his posture tenses up. That kind of thing *can* be faked for a CGI-based product, but they never bother to make the effort.
Based on Nero, he sold the insanity very well. Vir being the one who killed him was a pure unfiltered kino moment. Also the scene after where vir is depressed and drinking because of it. His conversation with londo was one of the best dialogs in the whole show.
The way Sheridan completely outplays this smarmy b***h and that general has to come in and contain himself as Sheridan just smirks with his entire body is hilarious.
I am Colonel Ari Ben Zayn of Earthforce Internal Affairs and I know all about you OP, just another hotshot who posts threads without real quality posting experience! As of right now, I'm in charge!
For any hardcore Babylon 5 fans, there's a pretty well-written fanfic about the Dilgar War that's called "The Dilgar War"
If you recall Deathwalker, the Dilgar war criminal in season 1, Earth Alliance joined in a war against her race about 30 years before B5 takes place.
Someone wrote a 100 chapter story about that war. Some original characters, some B5 characters directly, and some relatives (Garibaldi, Franklin and Sinclair's fathers were all in the war).
It's mostly told from Jha'dur's point of view, recounting the war to the Minbari as she's in exile/imprisoned by the Wind Swords of the Warrior Caste.
The guy who wrote it says the version online was the original draft and there is a proofread version out, so what you'll probably find has a lot of basic editing errors (you're instead of your). But the actual story itself, the battles, the characters, they're really good. If you're a fan of B5, I *highly* recommend it.
AHHHH MISTER MORDEN
This line lives in my head, without payment, and will pop up at the most absurd times. Not that I'm complaining.
Next time,hold the line.
there used to be a proper smarmy c**t boss at my work and every time he walked into the room my brain automatically thought this kek

Hello Ambassador
Bernie Sanders watching Gaza being bombed
>gets into alliance with a notoriously evil genocidal race
>"No!! Not like this!"
Gets a chuckle out of me every-time
The shadows themselves only ever struck Narn military ships though. The bombardment of the Narn's homeworld was entirely the Centauri's doing.
so basically identical to what the USA and Israel are doing now.
>now
dont they always?
>The mass divers... kill people?
It was more of a "wait we are going in with the ilegal big stuff?" As if the bunch of lunatics above him wouldn´t start at orbital bombardment.
Bernie is emperor Turhan who tried to reconcile Centauri republic and Narn.

Why did they make G'kar a cuck?
>Why did they make G'kar a cuck?
What?
He put his false eye in the room with Sheridan and Delenn after they got married.
The best person was actually Londo since he was exactly as he said he was.
That makes G'Kar a peeping tom, not a cuck, you illiterate moron
>Woohoo?
To be honest, name a more iconic duo than B5 and atrocious movies.
Don´t worry, it seems it´s dead on the water.
imo only Legend of the Rangers was quite bad
I liked most of B5's movies
Hopefully they get a bluray release in our lifetimes now that they've released B5 on bluray.
Good, just a matter of different tastes.
In The Beginning was kino. The President's speech was one of the best in all of B5, a show with no shortage of great speeches.
?si=X4ZunTvHjkXKz5R4
Thirdspace was pretty good too.
Reboot? Oh hell no.
Well it's being written by JMS himself.
No it isnt't, it's writing by the dreadfull copycat Eiben Scrood
JMS has talent but he needs to be kept on a leash. one case where producer meddling was for the better
I have faith that JMS would create a quality B5 product if left to his own devices. He's about the only writer in hollywood right now (well him and James Cameron) that I have such faith in.

JMS is what happens when an autist's single autistic interest is human interaction
Considering it's the original writer/director it'll only be as bad as he turned out to be since the 90s.
You now remember that Audrey from 'National Lampoon's Vacation' was a Psi Corp intern in B5.
People change and no man is an island. 'Sense8' should be warning enough of what current year JMS would do with a new Babylon 5.
JMS did Lennier dirty
Maybe, but it was the actor Bill Mumy who originally came up with the idea that Lennier was in love with Delenn.
>Bill Mumy who originally came up with the idea that Lennier was in love with Delenn.
being in love is good, going into an incel rampage when you are supposed to be trained in serenity is not, specially when he was always a loyal guy, if you want to make him a conflicted guy with temper issues that's ok too, but set it up from the beginning

Deep Space 9 is just as good, maybe better.
They're both good, but on a whole B5 is better, setting, writing (for the most part, comedy sometimes falls a bit flat) casting, worldbuilding

Lennier was unironically always very racist, his end wasn't surprising
>when the show that turns your childhood upside down also introduces your new fetish
>sexy manipulative c**ts
Evil women were always the best on this show.
Lyndisty is my 5fu
Talia Winters was hands down the best woman in the show.
>Talia Winters
the magical Black gave her telekinetic powers, but didn't remove the psy-corp bomb from her brain, what did he mean by this?
That's epside bad:
>I had to murder them because the noone should have that power!
Time to revisit Dead On
>where every man has gone before
That was a good double burn.
Would you have?
Assuming STDs have been eliminated by then, yes.
Were there any ugly women on the show? Londo's oldest wife is the only one I can think of.
>all those actors that died at 60
Really get a feeling this show is cursed sometimes
did they film inside a toxic container like the Stalker actors?
Kind of, most of the sets were in what used to be a bathtub factory. And apparently when it was hot weather the place stank to high heaven because all of the toxic materials used for waterproofing had seeped into the building.
no wonder they all died
The thing is all the early cast deaths weren't associated with it.
Sinclair - extreme paranoid schizophrenia that he'd been struggling with beforehand
Franklin - aortic dissection
Zathras - motorcycle accident
Zach - prolonged pain killer addiction
G'kar - cancer from being a chain smoker for years
The scene with him and G'kar in the elevator is still one of my favorites. I miss Babylon 5 and Exosquad so much.
I liked the one where they are waiting in front of an elevator

Yes, ambassador?
So what are you gonna do, Mollari, huh? Blow up the island?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
BLOW UP THE ISLAND? BLOW UP THE ISLAND?
those were what we in the business call famous last words
He didn't deserve it, felt real sad for him
all centauri deserve it for what they did to the narn
This is really excellent corned beef. You have to get just the right mustard - the brown with the seeds, not the yellow kind, and not too much of it! If there's too much, it irritates the corners of my mouth. Oh, would you like some? I know they haven't fed you since you got here, that's at least two days. Besides, it's lunchtime. Isn't it? ...Isn't it lunchtime?
that was the first episode my dad watched with me, and he found the whole thing fascinating
Nooo
I believe JMS studied psychology, and that episode is all about classic interrogation methods. It's a small act of kindness to get you to identify with your captors, it's a small concession, to try and get you to agree with your captors, and it's a small concession for a small reward, you compromised yourself for half a corned beef sandwich, and you claim to be a moral authority?
I don't know why but this image of Kosh out of context makes me laugh
looks like a transformer
I watched a B5 blooper reel the other day and Boxleitner flubbed a line three times in front of Kosh. The actor in the Kosh suit just gave a sad little shake of his head and it was the funniest fricking thing I have seen in ages.
Babheads understand.
GIVE ME (YOU)s GIVE IT OR I'll RIP IT FROM YOUR POSTS ANON ELECTRON BY ELECTRON, ALL OF IT ANONS, ALL OF IIIIIIIT
Jeez, go out for a smoke and chill out.
>g'kar canonically raped londo
>londo is still the bad guy cuz muh colonialism past
Oh go resprese someone
How did Babylon 5 have such a convincing set compared to DS9 with one tenth the budget? B5 had a lot of cool unique areas and felt like a real place. DS9 just had the promenade and Quark's.
Also,
Ivanova > Kira
Being thoroughly pre-planed helps.
Because things were designed with realism in mind. It's why the CGI still looks decent (except for some of the moronic alien ship designs)
DS9 in space also felt really small, specially compared with the other Star Treks, Babylon 5 managed to feel big despite the shitty CGI
DS9 was just a mediocre space station scrolling above 3rd grade world. It becamse important space hub by chance. B5 was a huge interstellar project.
yes, but i don't mean just the station that felt small, everything felt small, when they had the war with the Defiant and all that, it always felt small, they never showed the the ship around a huge star like Star Trek usually does, maybe it was a style decision
or when they traveled to Bajor they just did a shot inside the shuttle, and then teleported to the planet, they never showed the scale of space, approaching the planet and all that
Budgets in sci-fi are a b***h and a half.
in TOS, TNG, and B5 they still managed to make space feel big, if TOS and TNG specially always had those big shots of the Enterprise around a star, in B5 despite the shitty CGI space felt darker and more ominous but that fit the setting, not sure why in DS9 it felt so small, still enjoyed it though, just an observation
in B5 hyperspace felt downright menacing in spite of the shitty CG, actually flying through it in a Starfury would probably be terrifying IRL
that one scene where they chain the Starfuries to guide the explorer ship back to the gate, and then a shadow swoops in and takes one of them out and disappears into the "fog" before anyone gets a good look at it gave me nightmares as a kid
meanwhile the wormhole in DS9 gives zero sense that you're traveling outside of the universe through some unknown dimension, it's just an over-the-top lightshow that seems to lack continuity
the only thing that ever came close to the sheer spookiness of hyperspace in any Star Trek show (aside from VGER, but I don't think that really counts) is the pitch black space in Where Silence Has Lease from TNG season 2
but even then, as soon as it's revealed that there's an intelligence behind it it loses its edge somehow
>the only thing that ever came close to the sheer spookiness of hyperspace in any Star Trek show
TOS had some cool stuff, like that space amoeba when Spock goes inside
TOS really feels like a horror series sometimes, too bad the other series couldnt capture that tone
space is scary, lonely, dark
Trek was never about that honestly. Ergo teleporters.
>Ivanova > Kira
Maybe being less religious tipped the balance for that anon?
I don't know, I haven't even seen DS9 in full and have just begun to watch the show. Love Ivanova, love Kira, don't know why we have to pit the two against one another.
Maybe we could pit them against each other in a mud wrestling fight, and they kiss and make up afterwards.
I love B5 but i feel like its the opposite. B5 you can see the walls move and shake sometimes when they open doors and shit. The overall aesthetic is great but I think the production desing is higher in DS9.
>an infinite budget looks better than one that had to make do with the change found under the covers
Wow amazing discovery sherlock.
Think most of Babylon 5's computer displays were made with contemporary computers, probably an Amiga, while the LCARS in Star Trek were physical props.
sovl
forced soul
>Gebäude
kek, it had to be an autistic german creating this
>production design is higher in DS9
Who can forget the "turbo"lift
>Ivanova > Kira
this is only true because they had to downgrade after best girl denied the role for some reason
if you watch the first few episodes in HD you can see the cardboard and the tape on the walls.... but they fix that shit as soon as they get a budget.
Think they redid the Zócalo early on as it looked tiny compared to later episodes.
>Stands there and looks cryptic in your path
How do you react without appearing mad?
Ask him what the hell he wants from me.
NEVER ASK THAT QUESTION!
tell him to get off his encounter suited butt and do something
Getting killed?
Ask them to strip, so I can finally experience, first hand, the furious eternal love of our lord Jesus Christ.
say nooo
Honestly bro with the way you act I'd almost prefer the shadows just kill me
Ask him what it means to be touched by Vorlons
Tell him his eyeball looks like a Martian anus from War of the Worlds and wait for his reaction.
"Uh.. you don't get to bring friends."
Ok boomer
>im going to cum gkar!!

>arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh
Does Susanna Luchenko get any love?
Check the books? Maybe there.
Check The Hidden movie.
reminder Claudia Christian did playboy
ugh, worst character, worst girl
Delen>Leeta>Dureena>Elizabeth>>
How come Garibaldi's I AM ITALIAN moments/remarks were never obnoxious as Susan's I AM RUSSIAN AND israeli moments were? The actor was more charismatic? Or guess cause he's Italian-American so believable as one, unlike the obviously American and non-Russian actress for Susan reminding everyone constantly of what she is obviously not
Yeees
Italians are way more likeable than fricking israelites you dumb meatball
bagna cauda is fricking delicious btw I make it every time I have artichokes
Jerry Doyle was Irish-American. He described himself as
>a mick from Brooklyn playing a wop from Mars
He's the better Bruce Willis
>What's with the hat?
>Keeps the rain off my head.
Imagine watching Babylon 5 now with Bruce Willis and convincing him that he was Garibaldi.
This is wrong. Amazingly wrong. Russian israelites are very distinct from other israelites, particularly non-Eastern European ones.
Worst was Commander Lochley's "I'm a rough and strong Texas cowgirl" routine.
>Delen
she was supposed to be a troony, but the producers stopped Straczynski from going to crazy with the gay shit
She still posts bikini pics and sells signed copies for charity.
oh man an ivanova/lyta sandwich, just needs talia thrown into the mix and i could die happy
I like Lyta, but i also really wanted to see where the Talia/Ivanova lesbo allusions would go
>Surname is Christian
>Plays a israelite
What is this, opposite world?
>Understand this, /misc/lari, I can never forgive the Chudtauri for what they did to my trans sisters. My community will never forgive yours. But *I* can forgive... (You).
Which one?
Franklin has really started to grow on me upon rewatch. His speech in medlab after getting stabbed hit too close to home. Actor died way too young RIP
Yeah. When I first watched it, I didn't like him because of the sick kid episode. I agreed that he overstepped. But on re-watch, I can understand his perspective more, and now I'm not sure.
>favorite side character
Viniri, Neroon, Lorien, Kosh
Londo and G'Kar fighting predicted Cinemaphile
Who knew
Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want?
TikTok
Hello, Mr. Morden.
Watching Space Above and Beyond to round out the 90's sci-fi shows. How is Sea Quest?
Barely remeber it, but there´s a big change in the show from one seson to the other, and it wasn´t for the better.
The eye thing? IDK, that anon is hallucinating.
I loved it as a kid. Underwater trek basically. Not great not awful.
I recently found out the actor that played cute smart kid in it killed himself soon after.
For me it's Zack
No anon, I meant more of something like
>Set many, many years after B5. Lets say a thousand or so.
>New races, lots of history, etc
>Part of the story could focus on 3 characters starting to have flashes of past lives, whatever
>They're new characters entirely, but a reveal could be that they are Sheridan, Delenn and Sinclair reborn into a new bodies
>Zha'Ha'Dum
That should be 'Z'Ha'Dum' but I was spelling it from memory and I'm after a bottle and a half of malbec.
Watch In The Beginning and Thirdspace, they're good.
if you like babylon 5 they're extra content worth giving a chance but the show is generally better overall
the movies are more like hour and a half long episodes that drag on
Just don't watch Legend of the Rangers, Sci-Fi Network tier garbage
I really liked Max and Galen
my memory is hazy... is this the home planet from Coneheads?
For me it's Ms. Kelsey
Beautiful woman who deserved to be a bigger star, if only so that I could coom to her.
What's her best attribute?
Frick you TNT
Crusade was meh with some blinks of good but mostly meh.
Crusade was kino
she was a cutie
>NIG'KAR!!!
the last, best thread on Cinemaphile
I was a little disappointed we didn't get to see the Telepath War. Psicorps always felt like the final boss to me, but Sleeping in Light was perfect
I don't mind Lenier being a simp
The Narn are just the damn Belters.
>there's brown people and downtrodden
it should be a classist issue and not race. the last 3 seasons its just brownie belters.
>Make them light skinned, blue eyed and blonde and the story would still suck
Yes but it still would have been better.
i sentence this anon to a death of personality, so that he may serve as a janny to the other anons he wronged, serving the community
It's nice to meet you sir, I am but a humble monk seeking knowledge of all the universes religions.
May His merciful Shadow fall upon him.
Lochley can suck the left side of my wiener while Ivanova works on the right
Where do I go now for sci fi?
Nothing can be as good as this.
There are a few in the ballpark but b5 will probably forever stand alone atop the mountain.
Best I can suggest is farscape or the first two seasons of battlestar galactica.
god bless the executive who okay'd the B5 HD version. i dont mind the 4:3 at all, i think i actually kinda prefer it. gives you that old timey TV feel
>it's a guest star episode
certified kino
even tho both typecasted him this was the better ep compared to Voyager
and his character/murder persona here was named charles, like in childs play which i think is a cool little nod
So is a reboot happening or not? IMDB doesn't show JMS doing shit.
something animated possibly.
and into the trash it goes
i've turned into a pickle, garibaldi!
ok so
the rights to the reboot were bought by the CW
then the CW got sold to some new conglomerate who put a hold on new projects
so the reboot is up in the air and nobody knows
i'd rather they not do anything instead of something shitty
> Pretty much everyone on B5 is dead now.
And Shatner just keeps going.
What's pic related all about?
she has good boobas, weird ass.
Apparently a bunch of little moments got cut from the initial UK broadcasts on Channel 4. 'TKO' was dropped entirely from S1, so maybe they were just trying to save us
tfw they didn't include Sinclair and Kosh in the toast.
I always thought it was a bit weird how they all seem to forget him, especially garbal since he was supposed to be the closest to him
We are all Kosh.
>tfw you produce reverse-correct infospeak goodfacts while nuking civilian population centers to demoralize the enemy
Now post your face after being outwitted by an hologram and getting your ass nuked.
>it's Bester bests someone episode
i watched the whole series without realizing that Bester had a fricked up arm, i really lack the power of perception
Well, it wasn´t much of a physical role to be noticed.
yes, but once somebody points it out, it's very clear, also awesome that the actor managed to be so menacing while being a manlet with a fricked up arm
What's with his arm?
i couldn't find a video on youtube highlighting it, but his left arm/hand seems to be useless or have a fake hand, you can see sometimes when he is holding papers, he is putting them under his elbow, never using the left hand, maybe also when charging his gun? it's not highlighted on the episode so you just have to pay attention
I think the actor was recovering from a heart attack when he was casted for another role in b5. They gave him bester after and was kino since
I've never seen this show before. Is it worth a watch if I like TNG, DS9 and Farscape?
definitely, it's like DS9 but better
Yes
Yes.
A good role performed perfectly.
without a doubt, B5 and farscape are two of the few scifi shows that successfully pull off a long burn plot arc (also battlestar galactica), andromeda is fun too if you liked all of those but it's a bit hammier and the quality is overall a bit lower, while still being fun as frick because kevin sorbo is a gem
>the Cinemaphile project was our last, best hope for advertizing
>....it failed
Babylon 5 is one of the best imo
A lot of fun to watch
wtf were they thinking
KINO
>wake up
>b5 thread is still alive somehow
>no drama
This is the best b5 thread we've had in years I shall not soon forget it.
Bishop Brennan playing the judge in b5 is pure kino
HE DID INFECT ME WITH THE PLAGUE
B5 x Sopranos crossover episode when?
wasn't that the Garibaldi episodes?
>Are you in the Rangers?
>Am I in the WHAT?
>Whatever you wanna call it, "Anla'Shok"
>That's total crap, who told you that?
>Dad, I've lived on-station all my life, I've seen the Nightwatch come with warrants, I've seen Whitestars docking at 3 in the morning-
>So? You never seen a Narn freighter dock at 3 in the morning carrying them special flowers?
>Do Narn kids ever find religious tracts and a Minbari quaterstaff while they were hunting for Easter eggs?
>I'm an Earth-Minbari interpreter, everybody automatically assumes that you're a religious nutjob... it's a stereotype, and it's offensive!
A spin-off about the shenanigans of N'Grath the giant mantis crime boss would be kino.
One of my earliest crushes. Show needed 100% more Lyta.
>tfw ywn a mommydom telepathic sex with her
>go from a stunt woman to actress to CEO of one of JMS's companies because you frick him
women live life on easy mode
>easy mode
you still have to frick JMS
i would rather work in the uridium mines
I AM UBERCHARGING INTO HER
I like the actor, but I was so sick of Byron by the time he died I practically cheered when it happened
Okay Bester
she's got that goofy cute "i will protect her" kinda look
should have ended up with zack
Too bad JMS's cuck fetish wouldn't let it happen.
Is he the most cucked person on B5? Sherridan steals his waifu and then he just kinda leaves like wtf
>then he just kinda leaves
He also dies off screen according to the finale
Looking at JMS's body of work he clearly has a cuckold fetish. They butchered Linniers story arc for no reason.
it was a damn shame, there was so much well written personality to lennier's character that developed very naturally, he and vir are my two favorites after londo and g'kar
>claudia christian fricks off from season 5
>for the spoopy halloween episode we get captain sex candy's dead heroin junky gf instead of ivonova resurrecting marcus to tell him how she felt
I was so disappointed Marcus wasn't in the day of the dead special. At least Mr. Morden showed up for a bit, that was fun
Marcus never died
It's weird how he went to Lennier
How would you make Narns in Stellaris?
>want to post about Leyton in a Star Trek
>look for a Star Trek thread on Cinemaphile, there is always one
>there is no Star Trek thread
>but there's a Babylon 5 thread
Pure fragging magic.
The trek schizo, so far, is unaware of B5, so let's enjoy the superior patrician discussion here
/trek/ is a fricking mess, horrible thread
I never noticed, I can't remember any other trek actors on B5 apart from Basedter of course
dwight shultz is in an early season episode. there of course is also the g'kar episode in Enterprise where he is a leader of a higher tech humanoid race and the episode in TNG where he plays a romulan. lets not forget jeffrey combs as well and many other guest stars across the whole scifi-tv-sphere. its always a delight to see
It's the makeup, he completely disappears into the role
i cant imagine how modern cgi fests in media just drag down your ability to immerse yourself in a role as an actor. the sets are faked in computers, the costumes, the props, nothing ever looks real to audience and crew alike.
Are you sure?
Guys we're eating breen today.
Better than spoo.
Was he based?
He was the definition of cringe
>gay insane moron named after a shitty place
Yeeees
moronic
Based on Nero, he sold the insanity very well. Vir being the one who killed him was a pure unfiltered kino moment. Also the scene after where vir is depressed and drinking because of it. His conversation with londo was one of the best dialogs in the whole show.
>was one of the best dialogs in the whole show
This show is filled with good dialogue. It's arguably it's best point
OP this thread came at an inconvenient time
The way Sheridan completely outplays this smarmy b***h and that general has to come in and contain himself as Sheridan just smirks with his entire body is hilarious.
It's what Sheridan is best in
Aside from nuking aliens you mean?
I want Dureena to steal my semen
I am Colonel Ari Ben Zayn of Earthforce Internal Affairs and I know all about you OP, just another hotshot who posts threads without real quality posting experience! As of right now, I'm in charge!
It has been an honor getting a B5 thread to bump limit. Godspeed friends until we meet again in the next one.
Thoughts on the Dilgar?
