Viv meant by this that Adam is a great, strong and brave warrior, capable of defeating anyone in a fair one-on-one battle (he destroyed Alastor's magic shield with one left hand), that the devils could only defeat Adam with vile and cowardly stabs in the back!
After discovering an angel was killed by the demons, he inspired heaven to launch a crusade against hell leading the charge himself. He valiantly fought against the sodomites and even lucifer and the princess of hell at the same time. He was only killed after getting stabbed in the back.
