WHY do normies love God of War (2018) so much? I couldn't even finish 20% of it because I thought it was so BORING. So I didn't even bother trying another "le masterpiece" called GoW ragnarok. "Best game ever" MY ASS.

I think it had the potential to be good, but what put me off it the most other than the story was whenever you spent longer than .5 seconds on a "puzzle," the characters would speak to spoonfeed you the answer. The game was clearly designed for midwit søylords who scream and cry the second something takes effort to figure out.
I watched a playthrough on Youtube, pretty cinematic and nice hearing the dialogue play out and story develop. But I definitely wouldn't buy it. Also noticed too, it's a really brainless game.
God of War was never that good, always the brides maid never the bride. The original games were inferior compared to DMC, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden you name it. Even this game is arguably overshadowed by RDR2 which is another cutscene heavy game.

What a crock of bullshit it's a 20 hour game at most but a good 10 hours of that is just walking around through braindead puzzles, empty areas and most insultingly loading screens that you have to manually load by walking through an empty area.

Never played the games but that part always confused me
There are different lands and realms. Kratos destroyed his old home land and killed all the gods and moved on to a new place, met a wife, impregnated her, raised a kid and then the norse gods come to his house when his wife dies.
There was a plan a long time ago about doing Norse and Egyptian series with different MCs, then the two would meet Kratos and they'd go to see baby Jesus in the manger as the three wisemen.
Obviously you can't have that anymore, so they brought Kratos to Norway instead of having a new guy.

The new God of War is full of cheap melodrama you can easily get invested in and very simple to understand. Big grumpy man, protect heckin wholesome kid, conflict breeds destruction. It's /just/ dramatic enough to be entertaining without having to think too much, and just action packed enough to hold attention. But simple and shallow enough that you don't really need to pay attention, know anything, or engage with the material to be rewarded. Peak 'content' as the kids like to say.

Even if both were walking simulators, RDR2 is superior because it has you on the prairie with a horse instead of in Vikingland with a little boy
I just wish there was more to do in RDR2's world. It's amazing graphically, and great fun to explore, but once you've covered the map and done the small number of sidequests then that's pretty much it for the open world, unless you're into completing all the hunting challenges or redoing the same old railroading story missions.
I'm playing through the first Red Dead Redemption right now and there's far more sidequests (most with at least two different ways to complete them), bounties, random duels, and minigames to find around the map. Even if I don't do all the cow herding or the various gambling minigames, at least they're there.
It's mostly women that love those kinds of games because they're more like watching TV shows. The gameplay is mostly automated (walkie talkie segments interspersed with combat that had auto aim and or move assist) and there's no real ways to fail coz you have infinite retries and checkpoints every 3 seconds.
They are an absolute waste of the medium and they should just be made as TV series'. They''d still get to tell their little story, it'd be cheaper and they can cut out the pretense entirely
