Goddam this was kino. Marathoned the whole show in a week. Dragged a little during the earth episoded but picked up again after with Ramba Ral's attack on the White Base. From then it was full speed ahead to a fantastic ending. Watching Zeta next.

Anime is for homosexuals and trannies. Yes this includes mecha
tell em cuz
And NEETs. Don't forget NEETs.
For anyone interested in Gundam but lacks patience or time, I recommend the movie trilogy. It recaps the show.
If you enjoyed the original star wars trilogy I think you'll like the movie trilogy. There are a lot of interesting places to go from there. Big series.
yea I'm a neet.
not a homosexual though, and war sci-fi will always be more manly than reality TV, western nu-startrek dreck, or SJW fantasy that passes for entertainment and Cinemaphile material
gundam 0079 has what has been called a "grand narrative", a complex universe with lots of entry points and perspectives. I like that it was written by Japs so close to WWII mentalities. For being essentially a philosophic toy commercial, its depiction of war is strikingly more human than shit made in recent decades due to proximity to WWII.
I almost don't like Zeta despite loving 0079, 08th MS team, 0080, CCA, 0083, and f91.
My advice would be to watch the dub. The sub was honestly hard to follow. The show has random "blink and you miss it" subtle characterization that went over my head first time I watched it and so I misunderstood half the cast. I think it was the language barrier.
enjoy tho. It has similar highs and lows to the original.
Funny meme, but it's clear they rushed the romance because they wanted Sleggar's death to mean something.
>strikingly more human than shit made in recent decades due to proximity to WWII.
It's funny because I watched Evangelion when I was 15 and I generally avoided older mecha stuff because I was under the impression they were for children and wouldn't stand up to newer more mature anime. How wrong I was.
I want to Macross soon as well.
Best Macross, as a whole, is OG Super Dimension Macross. 7 is pretty good too, but then it goes down hill from there. Frontier is high school drama and Kawamori's environmentalism "bugs are le good" and Delta (though I love Walkure) is just a mess about "muh wind".
Yes plan to watch the original. Also considering watching Space Battleship Yamato.
For me it's Gundam 00.

00 is on my list to watch.
I'll check it out. Is ZZ worth watching? I plan to watch Zeta and Char's Counterattack.
Uhhhh depends on how much you love the franchise at that point, just be warned though, it's NOTHING like the original series or zeta, they basically turned the show into a comedy for the first 25 episodes, then turned coat and did the rest of the series super serious so it's incredibly jaring.
Arguably has better mech designs and a better protag than zeta, but yeah, it may leave a foul taste in your mouth, and if it does, feel free to skip it, because really only the ending of the series matters and you won't miss anything that you won't be able to get from reading the synopsis on wikipedia
Right, consensus seems to be that Zeta is the best Gundam show and that ZZ is a huge comedown from that.
Zeta and ZZ both have admittedly big pacing issues and both shows the best part is the ending. I think ZZ has much better MS design and Neo Zeon is a much more interesting faction than the Titans by miles, but Aeug gets the shaft hard, Judau and his gang aren't bad but the organization as a whole is portrayed incredibly inept and the Federation as psychotically corrupt fielding a crew of kids in an assassination plot against Zeon. Which I suppose actually helps set up CCA since it's very clearly on Char's list of grievances.
Is Thunderbolt any good?
Anything after 2000 is shit tbqh
00 seems to be highly regarded.
Yeah
Yes, but they’ll probably never finish it.
Zeta takes a few episodes to warm up, but becomes arguably the best Gundam series once it does. ZZ had a troubled production and the first half is pretty weak, but the second half is solid. Gets bonus points for having a chad protagonist for a change, though. Char’s Counterattack divides opinion but I personally think it’s a great sendoff to the original Univeral Century story arc.
With regards to the OVAs, War in the Pocket is maybe the best piece of media the franchise has ever produced. Stardust Memory is good, has incredible visuals and designs, but the story falls apart towards the end. MS08th Team is decent fun to watch and has nice grounded war film vibes but the story has very little actual consequence or stakes.
Unicorn is decent, don’t bother with Narrative. There’s only one movie out so far for the Hathaway’s Flash adaptation but it’s very good. Turn-A is a fascinating take on the very end of the Gundam timeline with stunning design work from Syd Mead. Don’t bother with any of the alternate universe stuff besides G Gundam. Wing, Seed, Iron-Blooded Orphans, etc are all trash.
Thanks. I'm considering watching the entire UC arc, the OVAs, and G Gundam and Turn-A
Do it, you won’t regret it. A few years back I was seriously Ill for a while and decided to finally work through the entire UC story in order and it was great. It took Star Wars’ place in my heart after Disney murdered it.
Holy fricking based
make sure you don't skip on gundam stardust memory when the time comes
The dendrobium in stardust is kino
Zeta is pure kino. Love how Kamile develops. Then after be sure to watch war in the pocket. One of my favorite OVAs.of all time
mkII > zeta
Zeta is great but it's a lot like 0079 so I wouldn't necessarily watch it right afterwards. Stardust Memory is set between the events of 0079 and Zeta so it's a good series to watch before you watch Zeta.
I like zeta more because it's darker and the dynamic between Kamile and the titan kid who's name I don't remember was neat. It just feels heavier than 0079. Plus the mid 80s soundtrack.
I like Zeta more because I want Haman to sit on my face.
For me? nu gundam
What the frick is this dudes problem?
Autism.
But in actuality? Mummy issues.
>Zaku
>Sazabi
>pic related
How did this motherfricker get to pilot the most kino moblie suits ever?
>motherfricker
he wishes lol
but seriously I hope we see the Nightingale animated someday. That thing is a beast
I dont know, i just know hes never betrayed anyone in his life
Too based for this world
I fricking hate ZZ.
Seethe.
Now watch 08th MS Team for actual kino
Based op. If you liked MSG you live zeta. ZZ is more polarizing but i liked it. I'd also suggest wing (it's ok story wise but iconic) and G gundam
Forgot to mention all of the OVA's i've seen are phenomenal. 08th team is pure kino
>movie trilogy
Don't listen to this moron
>G gundam
Looks interesting, very different.
It's the most unique gundam seires that's forsure
god speed anon.
my fav amv from 0083, be careful with spoilers though
My favorite is the Acguy.
0079 and Turn A are the peak
Zeta is shit unfortunately
>ZZ is shit unfortunately
Ftfy. It might of been better if say with Kamille down, Amuro stepped in to help out.
Zeta and ZZ are both shit. There is no difference between the two.
Kneel, mecha-tourists.
Yeah this is one of the older mecha I had ignored, that I'm considering watching now.
In all seriousness you should give some of the Getter stuff a go. Some of it is bad but still so kino. Armageddon is so fricking good.
