GODDAMMIT DC

What would be so hard about putting a spinner rack in Walmart instead of this goofy shit? They can't even virtue signal the right way. Imagine if they put these characters in good comics that sold in supermarkets at a reasonable price with eye catching covers to attract new readers.

To be fair, being Wonder Woman is Wonder Woman's most defining and recognizable trait. Aside from that time she snapped someone's neck.

Eh, not really. What she stands for and what she does in general depends heavily on who's writing her because she's a complete mess and everyone jumps in with the intention of "fixing" her.

I think “i AM wonder woman!” is supposed to be a “yass queen slay!” moment when you make it coming out of a black chick. I think it’s supposed to give off “sir, i AM the manager” energy.

Ill let you complain about the infinite frontier line up of new mantle holders, but i draw the line at Nubia who has held the Wonder Woman mantle since the 70s. and even when she wasnt wearing it she was still wearing it on Themyscria. I hate what theyve done with her character, but i'd rather she be a chocolate bar than the new girl.

    >What would be so hard about putting a spinner rack in Walmart instead of this goofy shit?
They do sell some DC comics over by the trading cards though, just usually in multipacks. And occasionally some shitty cashgrab trades for big movies over in the book section.
    >Imagine if they put these characters in good comics that sold in supermarkets at a reasonable price with eye catching covers to attract new readers.
You can't have this one because the big comic shops throw a fit (see what happened with the 5 dollar walmart digests) and then the whole thing falls apart.

I love it when unintelligent fricktards who know nothing about how magazine sales work year after year after year demand spinner racks to be brought back to stores, thinking that’s how comics magically become popular again.

It sure would beat selling floppies like they're worth a fortune at super secret special stores.

        Anonymous

No not really, stopping sales in specialty stores would just push all those people who do procure their books their to just give up on monthly comics. It's money left on the table.

Comics are fricking expensive now, for a multitude of reason not just because of 'Colors' and 'Paper'', they're not an impulse buy you get your brat or your moron near the checkout lane.

          Anonymous

Make them not expensive then. It's not like what's written these days is worth the ink in the first place.

            Anonymous

Clearly price is not a factor for the culture war as people are paying for $50 for not even a novel's worth of an issue if we look at the anti-Woke comics if we look at EVS, Rippaverse, and that other frick with the black children... Zack?

        Anonymous

No, they wouldn’t. They specifically transitioned to LCS distribution in the 80s because newsstands and magazines racks at supermarkets didn’t sell as well where it cost an arm and a leg and get a good spot as well as stack, plus they were required to buy back everything that wasn’t sold or damaged.

          Anonymous

So basically you have to be competitive with magazines that have standards, and if your product isn't good, the supermarketes won't hold onto it and you eat the price for your subpar production. I can see how both of these are negatives to Marvel and DC

  26. 2 years ago

    >What would be so hard about putting a spinner rack

Ah yes, the lucrative Magazine Stand industry. Why do people keep thinking this is some sort of untapped well of potential?

Western Capeshit Comics in the US will never reach the ubiquity Manga has in Japan because nobody fricking reads in the US at the rate they do in Japan.
