The movie is called The New Empire, refrencing colonialism. Skar King is red haired (European) while Kong is clearly black coded. Shimo is a White female, representing White women, Shimo is enslaved by the evil White male Skar King. Godzilla, previously the avatar for White men in these movies, transistions from male to female, blue to pink. Where does that leave the plot? A coalition of black men (Kong), White women (shimo), and White trannies (Godzilla) team up to kill the oppressive White man (Skar King)

I think this franchise has potential to evolve i various different ways. 1. They could build mechs since they already did that with MechaG and they could become some sort of Pacific Rim. 2. Starship Troopers type story with Monarch agents fighting human sized bugs in the Hollow Earth. 3. Maybe even do and Atlantis story with fish people.

GvK was good, so if its on par then it must be good.
It has a better human cast and use of them
But the fights are worse than GvK so it gets the same score as that film
Also soundtrack was terrible

GvK/GxK 4/10
Oh and apparently the B team of animators did the Rio fight so that may be why that fight was so lacking

They never call him King Kong in the original film, outside of a single sign in a shot. The name King Kong was created by marketers and wasn't part of the script, his name isn't King Kong in the movie.
I get that he's not "King" Kong in Skull Island or GvK 2021, but he actually became a King in this one. I was hoping for a scene where they change his Titan name into King Kong or something. Instead the movie just ends and switches into a black credits roll, it's like they ran out of budget.

I still am irritated if I rewatch the ending of KotM where when they begin bowing down to him it cuts to Bobbie Brown's moron face and then a mid shot of all the annoying humans and soi bois for like 30 seconds before then going back to the monsters.
The two Godzilla and Kong movies focus less on the people than King of the Monsters did.
there's gradually more emphasis on the monsters. in KotM the monsters fight but the scenes are interespersed by human bullshit. In GvK 2021 the monsters fight uninterrupted.
In GxK there are long extended scenes of just Kong and mini Kong doing Kaiju stuff, it's the best part of the movie.
My recollection is that Godzilla 2014 and then KotM tried to be artsy pretentions pieces of shit. Stuff like Oppenheimer in the trailer of 2014 and the sort of music they would play in the KotM trailers. Clearly they were avoiding embracing the sheer fun and insanity that is suppose to be in these movies. Not the only franchise that gets dragged down for some bizarre emphasis on the fricking humans. From my childhood, Beast Wars still remains my favourite Transformers property because there were no fricking humans at all - early hominids in cameo/plot device roles at most.
Toho charges a lot of money to use each monster.

LOVED both KOTM/GvK and although Minus One was great, I do love how progressively insane these new movies are which is exactly what happened in the original films over time. It also helps that the cinematography looks gorgeous and will be no doubt stunning in 3D.
