It's a pretty brain dead film. You won't be surprised by anything that happens
Movie was utter kino EXCEPT the end left me completely blueballed: Godzilla spends the whole movie powering up for the final battle, and he’s so strong that he easily cheeses the Scar King boss fight and smokes him easily, then it turns out the crystal monster is a good guy so in the end after being hyped up the whole movie Godzilla doesn’t do shit and easily solos the final boss battle, Mothra and Kong didn’t even need to be there. They should have just made the crystal monster super powerful and also evil so we got to see Godzilla use all the power he absorbed to kill that thing, but whatever it was still kino but what the frick.
Shimo being "good" wasn't out of nowhere, it was pretty obvious from her first introduction that Scar King had her doing things against her will, even without Andrews and Co. spelling it out for the audience. That she would immediately turn on him the moment they broke that thing could be seen coming from a mile away. You're not wrong about them hyping up the fact that he got a huge upgrade and hardly got to unload on someone, though.
He'll kill kong instead
imagine >an army of aggregate destoroyahs vs Kong and his new monkey bros >he absorbs all the great apes and transforms into perfect destoroyah
well he survived the oxygen destrroyer and melting down within a couple hours of each other so what can even kill this version?

In the original Godzilla vs Destroyah Godzilla was too powerful for Destroyah to hurt. The main conflict was with Destroyah and Godzilla Jr. Godzilla tore Destroyah apart.
>godzilla and gamera film >some gyaos are rampaging >gamera emerges and tries to save humanity from them >one of the gyaos becomes super gyaos >godzilla arrives, is initially unsure of gamera, but then they team up to fight super gyaos.
A solo Gamera movie with a Monsterverse budget would bomb. It would need Godzilla or Kong in it for the international brand recognition. My plan would still mostly be a Gamera film.
NTA but I wouldn't have Gamera team up with anyone.
Gamera doesn't WORK as a teamup character because it actively goes against a bunch of core character traits that make him unique among Kaiju.
Here's my pitch >Deep within the jungles of New Guinea, Barugon reawakens after sensing the call of his mate, Shimo >Due to shenanigans involving the crystal, he's gone nearly stark raving mad >Godzilla and Kong are nowhere to be found >Gamera just shows up inexplicably >Nobody knows where Gamera comes from or why he does what he does >He just keeps displaying weirder abilities and people keep trying to figure out what the frick he is
>Gamera just shows up inexplicably >Nobody knows where Gamera comes from or why he does what he does >He just keeps displaying weirder abilities and people keep trying to figure out what the frick he is
Is this Shin Gamera? Personally, I wanna see a Gigan and Megalon vs Godzilla and Gamera movie, Gamera can wake up because of the alien threat or whatever. Frick Gyaos, they're jobbers.
It's mostly because I can't decide on an origin for him, but here goes >Gamera is actually the Black Knight Satellite >Once upon a time, the ancient humans learned how to engineer their own Titans. Maybe from aliens, 2001 style >Some created gladiators or beasts of burden >Others created livestock or pets >But some created living weapons >Gamera is one of these living weapons. This societies version of a nuclear warhead. >But he refused to be a WMD for some reason >He fought against the other bio-weapon Kaiju and defeated them. >He finally fought against the strongest of them, implied to be Viras, in space, where he did... Something that sunk several continents and exhausted all of his energy >Now in orbit, he's been drip-fed solar radiation >Blah blah blah something something
>Gamera is actually the Black Knight Satellite
Fricking kino. Was thinking Gamera and Megalon could have similar origin stories where they were both made by ancient humans to be weapons except Gamera went rouge and refused to follow orders because he grew a conscience while the Seatopians team up with the Xiliens to unleash Gigan (can have some human action bits with the aliens too). We can follow Megalon and Gigan on a kaiju killing spree before Godzilla catches up to them.

Or it's just Gamera fighting both at the same time like an absolute Chad

Yeah he definitely could but you can't put Gamera in a monsterverse movie without the fans calling out for him to fight Godzilla.

It's canon that all of Gamera's foes at once aren't enough to stop him.
>He just keeps displaying weirder abilities and people keep trying to figure out what the frick he is >Barugon
LEGENDARY, HIRE THIS MAN
Gamera appearing and just being himself to the bafflement of the entire universe also sounds like instant kino.
>godzilla and gamera film >some gyaos are rampaging >gamera emerges and tries to save humanity from them >one of the gyaos becomes super gyaos >godzilla arrives, is initially unsure of gamera, but then they team up to fight super gyaos.
Also if I had complete control I'd bring back Ghidorah or introduce Gigan and have them team up with the Gyaos.
I can because it has better fights than anything in the franchise prior.
It also finally does away with the cancerous underdog persona that poisoned Gamera and makes him into the wrecking machine he’s supposed to be

I might like it if they got remade by a better animation studio that knows how to make a series that doesn't run on Gameboy Video Player in terms of framerates.
Later he treats her like a pet (again, Kong becoming a generic human barbarian I'm sick of him) so Shimo is probably quite primitive and not fully sapient like Godzilla and Kong or it's just more acceptable for titans to behave liek that when they're friendly.

She was probably friendly and grateful to Kong for freeing her and she probably wanted to help deal with the other apes left back at the hideout.
That's the most tame shit I ever heard of. Never mind the violence in the other movies, they showed severed monkey heads in this one and end up with this saturday morning cartoon villain death?
As I was watching it, I was really hoping it was going to be something like Kong either plants his axe in Scar King's back, or just holds him in place, as Godzilla and Shimo duo-beam him to death.
I thought it was really fricking weird that the baby kong never gets named in the movie, like i know from the toys his name is suko but you would think that since they went through the trouble of actually making him a fun little character they would call him something beyond "mini-kong". Felt like a lot was cut form the movie.
I was also surprised there weren't more scenes with Doug, considering they went to the trouble of bringing him back. I was sure he was going to have a cutesy moment with Suko, or try to help Kong when he's injured and being chased by the evil apes.
This is what I want. Wingard is clearly going for the childlike fun side of the kaiju genre, I think I'm gonna enjoy this movie a lot as a contrast to the dark "horror" side that Minus One delivered.

Liked GvK more than KotM for some reason, and I think it was this. Wingard even made a good point recently about how he thinks these movies are going to transition back to the themes and mood of 2014 Godzilla and how they're at the tipping point of the Showa era now (not verbatim obviously) but it shows how he really understands that these movies don't need to follow a strict set of rules.
This is very true, the kids in my pretty packed theatre went nuts when kong decks the beta slave driver ape
the whole movie felt like a saturday morning cartoon, probably intentionally cause my theater was packed with 8 year olds kek
you know what, even if the movie isn't what I would've wanted I'm legit happy that kids get a big monster smash movie in theaters and want the toys and shit.
Felt like over half the movie was spent intercutting between the human cast walking from point a to point b, and the kaiju walking from point a to point b
Then after skar king finally shows up they keep cutting to the stupid humans running their fricking mouths expositing all this useless information in-between the climactic battle everyone came to see
It was like the worst parts of KOTM on steroids
You know what, I'll give you that at least. And in general these characters were less annoying than KOTM's cast
This movie was just really frustrating to try and sit through, they tried to structure it like a mystery when the trailers had long since shown skar king and signaled his purpose in the story. So much of this movie just drags for no reason
That's Shimo, but "a second Godzilla" has always been a critical part of the Godzilla storyline. Most of the Godzilla timelines (but not the Monsterverse one) involve the 1954 movie happening and a second Godzilla appearing later.
>but not the Monsterverse one
There are (or were) multiple Godzillas in the MonsterVerse. There's Dagon (the dead Godzilla skeleton we see in 2014, where the male MUTO hatched from) and all the Godzilla bones scattered about in the ape temple in GvsK.
I went into the movie not really understanding all the details that would be included, I was very surprised to see that Mothra was coming back. I love her so goddamn much.
I liked Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire far more than I did Godzilla vs. Kong. The cast is reduced to a reasonable amount, there are no dumb B-plots, there is no outwardly stupid shit like "we emailed you an ancient power source," and Scar King and Shimo make for far better villains than Mechagodzilla did. Literally the only major complaint I have about the movie is I'm sad they killed off Scylla.
He was actually a pretty cool villain. Genuinely malicious, intelligent and cruel.
I feel like GvK was halfway between this movie and KotM, weighed down by KotM's characters and reddit humor, whereas this movie shed them and was more genuine in its unhinged cartoon logic.
It's funny how everyone was shitting on Lanky when he got revealed but now everyone is saying he's one of the best parts and should have been in more scenes.
>Worst Godzilla design since All Monsters Attack.
Think you meant to say Son of Godzilla. All Monsters Attack Godzilla was the one from Destroy All Monsters.
Last one was also a Kong movie. Just shows the ip hold of Godzilla is weakening as did hear rumors they may kill off Godzilla entirely soon since Toho isn't all that happy how the Monsterverse is panning out.
>Solly misah american producah man we no ronger want financial success from your movies and tons of merch residuals we want you kirr off godzilla prease.
In what fricking universe is this believable?
Fricking this. Minus One will be the main reason why Toho drops out of the monsterverse entirely as a way of saying "We don't need white piggu to make money or win awards." Is why Hollywood was scared shitless when Minus One came to the states since it breaks the narrative.

You guys are fricking clueless on Toho and how they see the Godzilla brand. They could care fricking less if the movie won an American oscar, they weren't even going to submit. They get free money and brand recognition and what do they risk? Godzilla not being taken seriously?
Theres a second season of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again about to air. They upload Godzilla Island to their main youtube channel. They make googly eyed plushies of Shin
>They get free money and brand recognition and what do they risk?
More money from their own works. They still are salty they couldn't make a Shin Godzilla 2 after it became the highest grossing Godzilla film they ever made and were wienerblocked by the then Legendary stipulation deal. To think they could've had Shin 2 instead of KOTM which the latter was a borderline financial dud at worst and a disappointment at best.

They did. But they were contractually obligated to only make Godzilla products that wasn't live action per agreement set in 2013. Shin dodged the bullet since it was in production before the contract was signed. Is why we got mostly mediocre anime adaptations that had decent ideas, but crap execution until Minus One when the contract was renewed, but altered.
>Toho isn't all that happy how the Monsterverse is panning out.
I wouldn't be happy either since before Godzilla vs Kong, the only high grossing Monsterverse film to release was Kong Skull Island and that film gave them zero networth since they don't own Kong.
Toho is incredibly happy, Godzilla was already supposed to be out of the Monsterverse but they renewed their agreement with Legendary because Godzilla vs Kong did well.
>because Godzilla vs Kong did well.
And then they will commit seppuku when this new film bombs since its getting gaped by critics and early screen audience alike.
It's projected to do well.
It's weird that autists have to cope by pretending that Toho hates the movies that they approve everything in and profit from.

Legendary partnership with Warner Bros as the parent company or in this case senior. This case WB let legendary borrow mechagodzilla from its own CR in the IP distribution outside japan. Shimo being a repurposed Space Godzilla was again a early concept mockup for this film shortly after GvK came out around the time of the renegotiation deal was being set. Same leak was implied that Legendary also wanted to make a Gargantua film after this one and presented a mock up sculp of Gaira to Toho.

Not entirely a red flag since the concept phase they had in mind for the Gargantua's that they would be the same species or similar to what Kong is rather than them being spawns of Frankenstein. Also keep in mind Mothra was dead and Rodan for some reason continues to be MIA.

I mean to be fair, that's been the case since the last movie since he was outright destroying and taking what he wanted, all in the name of coming after whoever he thought was a threat to his title.

Probably because he didn't have time to be nice about it since he knew something was coming and was in the middle of his training arc. The movies try to make a point of how territorial he is, and especially will go after Titans who are actively making life hard, but the movies are clearly also just building him as a force of nature that takes what it wants, and I think him not having any real human reps this movie is the writers just trying to remind us that whatever else Godzilla may be, king or whatever, everything is on his terms and the humans are just living in it. The fact that there's no real way to even communicate with him probably cements that.
What I find funnier in hindsight now is how Jia managed to do what Madison never really got in all of her appearances. Ghidorah acknowledged her more than Godzilla ever did.

>yes so if Toho can make whatever they want and they were dying to make Shin 2, why wouldn't they?
Because Minus One is now to go to sequel to be made now after outgrossing Shin in not just a domestic sense, but a international one as well. Also the fact that Shin 2 made more sense back say 3-5 years ago and not say nearly 10 years held back from the first.

They could have made it instead of Minus One, which Yamazaki has not even been given a greenlight from Toho to make a sequel to, despite him publically saying he wanted to multiple times. Also its really not that big of a gap. Biolante was 5 years after Return of Godzilla
1 month ago
Anonymous
Again they couldn't because Legendary told them they couldn't or else they would get nothing from any of their films since it would break the terms. As for Biollante being 5 years apart was mostly Tanaka being completely hesitant of making another series of Godzilla films as well as the problems of them finding a person "good enough" to direct. Keep in mind Godzilla 1984 only did just okay in Japan and wasn't exactly as a hit to say Shin or Minus One. Also didn't help either the Godzilla suit used in that movie got stolen after production.

Who the frick wants redone Toho kaiju for EVERY MOVIE, anon? They have to throw in some new monsters occasionally. The MUTOs, Scar King, and Shimo have all been great. You have to remember, once upon a time, even classic foes like Gigan, Megalon, SpaceGodzilla, and Destoroyah were new, once. You may see the tag team of Gigan and King Ghidorah as the team up of a couple of classic Godzilla foes, but Ghidorah was the only returning vet while Gigan was the new kid on the block. Because the people making bullshit up are under 30 year old NEETS who fap to GodzillaXMothra fanfics. They have their own idea of Godzilla largely based off fandom and can't comprehend how Japanese salary men would think
Yeah, Godzilla is still the alpha male but the story clearly has a Kong bias. Godzilla didn't even have a real human rep this time around, because Bernie got poached into team Kong pretty early on.
I feel like the writers feel like it's easier to humanize someone like Kong, who can even communicate on his end rather than spend time on Godzilla who is just more or less going to do what he wants, when he wants. He just seems more driven by instinct, and clearly as this movie showed, You don't need to be fricking up cities in order for the King to come wreck your shit. It was for a reason, but still.
>the story clearly has a Kong bias. Godzilla didn't even have a real human rep this time around
Another reason why it needed Millie. She could have saved it.
>I would've pissed
I meant to say "I would've BEEN pissed," but I like the mental image of me being so enraged I just urinate non-stop for the entire rest of the film's runtime.
Completely different films. Minus One is an ominous, sombre solo film. New Empire is a giant-monsters-defend-the-world slamfest. It's like comparing The Dark Knight to the first Avengers movie.
Just got out of the cinema. I loved it. It's dumb as shit but it doesn't do it with a the wink-at-the-camera, "we're in on the joke" sensibility. It just keeps it straight. The humans weren't a pain in the ass, there weren't a ton of useless plot threads, and there were a load of fights. The biggest negative was that Godzilla was second fiddle to Kong and Shimo's design was a little lame in the head area. The zero-g fight with Mothra helping out into the fight in Brazil was great. I wish Godzilla used his breath to fly around. These American Godzilla films finally got one right without eye-rolling MCUified dialogue every five seconds.
Kong at the end got an adopted son, a taxi/horse Shimo, a cool gauntlet, recovered his axe & now has a family/kingdom of apes to protect.
I feel good for him.
odds that the next installment is more OC monsters?
just bring back the director of kotm and have him use gigan and megalon. if not that, then the director of the 2014 one and have him use hedorah and biollante
If this one does as well as its projected to do then there might be a Toho monster. If it does only okay then it will probably be all OCs, besides maybe Mothra again.

It more or less did, 2014, KSI and KOTM fit well enough. It's just GvK went full on crazy with the Hollow Earth shit and Godzilla beating up all the other monsters offscreen and now everything is such a mess that there is no easy way to tell a coherent story anymore.
>Idk why you’re trying to defend it
Because it's a very good giant monster movie and I love King Kong. >even the pic you posted looks like a joke.
It's obviously supposed to be funny.
Probably woke up Godzilla and that’s when he BTFO shimo and all the apes in the first place. As we see in the end shimo was gonna do the ice age thing again but Godzilla reversed it.
Who cares, let Godzilla get stronger. We just need powerful bosses for him to use his full strength on. King Ghidorah was the only one he had to go all out to beat. He raped everyone else he fought, even Kong. Godzilla just needs another really bad strong guy to fight (Destroyah/SpaceGodzilla).
Kong somehow being aware of where the Bad Apes had set traps. It wasn't set up at all. Also the Even Hollower Earth that's even deeperer and more hiddenerer. Oh, and "We haven't heard from our outpost and know there's a distress call coming from Hollow Earth. Let's not connect these two points."
I didn't give a shit about this. I still liked it a lot.
>Kong somehow being aware of where the Bad Apes had set traps.
...Those were Kong's traps, anon. Like the ones he used to kill the warthog-wolves at the start of the movie. They're for hunting.
Kong saving that guy only for that mf to immediately turn on him that was fricked. Reminded me of Megatron saving Optimus only for Optimus to whirl around and behead him horribly.
I'm just happy they're throwing in more fights. I can accept that those monsters were probably dicks who got what they deserved.
whats wrong with that?
Not that anon, but I imagine most fans would prefer to see Godzilla have the "Monster Island mentality" with his fellow Titans. If they're causing a problem, Godzilla will rush in and smack the shit out of them until they stop acting out, but not go in for a literal kill shot. Especially a kaiju that's been previously established, like Scylla, who should know how to behave like now.
>I imagine most fans would prefer to see Godzilla have the "Monster Island mentality" with his fellow Titans
I don’t sounds soi as hell. Godzilla’s characterization is perfect in this series.
>Not that anon, but I imagine most fans would prefer to see Godzilla have the "Monster Island mentality" with his fellow Titans.
Yeah I would tbh, I find it kinda strange that he's killing other monsters in a movie that seems lighthearted. Not a huge deal though, as long as he's not killing the major monsters.
I can guarantee we'll get some kind of secondary media that'll explain that the Scylla in the movie was some adolescent who refused to fall in line and the one from KOTM is still out there vibing
The whole purpose of OC kaiju in a Godzilla film is to get obliterated by Godzilla. If they're not the main antagonists, that asswhoppin' is going to come fast. Their whole narrative purpose is to show Godzilla can murder fools without Godzilla murdering someone we "like".
I feel like that was such a waste by Legendary. They built a stable of mostly interesting original monsters that they could have gotten way more use out of. And any one of them could have easily been written into better villains than a big red monke and Ice Godzilla. Monsterverse really, really needs some actual direction.

I liked the designs of their OC kaiju too but they are just designs. Their purpose is to look cool and be overcome by the protagonist. They are not headliners in any sense.

Anonymous
Yeah but I mean every one of them could be, is my point. They're good designs, with some smart writing they could be made into something cool and probably better than what we got. Lanky Kong was just stupid.
It's like they had cool designs they could have used, and then just went with a generic monkey instead, so they could make it a more Kong focused movie.

>They are not headliners in any sense.
Sure, but they could become the supporting cast of the MonsterVerse. Behemoth, Methuselah, the Queen Muto, etc. could be the MonsterVerse equivalents of Anguirus, Gorosaurus, Kumonga, etc. - the Earth monsters that may not like Godzilla, but will back him up when the bigger threats show up.
Who would give a shit about them being supporting characters in the Monsterverse when there's limited screen time for monsters and an obvious desire to push the two main monsters and one reoccurring support character already? Shimu probably has the best chance of showing up again
The great thing about potential is the only limits are your imagination. I get where you're coming from, Anon, but the point of view you're holding is one of a hardcore kaiju fan and not a general audience or a film studio.

Then why bother using Scylla and Tiamat instead of just making up new Titans?

I don't think you're understanding me, I'm saying that I would rather see a movie featuring one of the cool designs they already made for KOTM as an antagonist, than just making up lazy boring ones like they're doing now. They had a pretty deep bullpen already to at the very least give them some ideas. Instead they go with red Kong and cold Godzilla. That laziness is what kills me.
Because they're already been designed, Anon. They're here to bow to Godzilla and then, later, for Godzilla to completely obliterate. Their entire purpose is to just here to fill the world out and get their ass kicked when Godzilla needs fodder. You might see these as a bunch of missed opportunities but you're treating these like they were meant to be anything but throwaways when the time comes. They built a deep bullpen of cardboard cutouts. And yes, I hate the mirror match shit as much as anyone but that's what the game is. And they did some work with the characterization making Skar King a creepy weird c**t and Shimu being tortured into servitude by him, then immediately putting the screws to him when she gets the chance. You're expecting unrealistic things.

Tiamat wasn't. She's only been in comic books until now. To include her in New Empire means Legendary went out of their way to include a previously established character the audience/fans were already familiar with.

>a waste by Legendary.
They were probably hashed out fast for the ending of KOTM and never intended to be anything more than fodder. They can always just make new monsters. None of them will ever be likely to get a starring role or featured for more than a few minutes simply because they weren't as heavily worked on as the "star" monsters and there's no excitement in featuring now 5 year old designs to anyone but hardcore fans.

>better villains than a big red monke
He's confirmed kino though.
I would feel like this position would make more sense if the alternative wasn't eternal secondary media relegation and no screentime recognition whatsoever. I think it's incredible that tiamat got a legit movie fight at all, not to mention a title card and everything.
Anytime the Monarch guys start going on about keeping big government and corporations out of Hollow Earth, or that scene where the black guy wants to reveal the Iwi to the rest of the world only for the other guy to start whining about what happened to other tribes that made contact with the outside world.
>Skar King and Shimo out of the picture in the hollow earth >Power vacuum is filled by resurgent Seatopia and their God Megalon, ancient enemies of the Mothra people >Gigan arrives on earth to find Ghidorah and figure out why the frick earth isn't prepped for invasion yet >Monarch uses the principles of the orca, specs of mecha godzilla and anti-gravity tech to build a prototype mass shifting Titan Liaison System named: Joint Automated Geometrically Ultrarelative Assessment Robot
Let's fricking go Legendary, the iron is as hot as it's ever going to get.
The Monarch director woman... Did anyone else get the vibe that the movie really wanted her to be Dr. Graham, but she obviously couldn't be since Dougherty killed her off?
>death flags
I have a sneaking suspicion the whole "monster who ate a star" thing is a hook line a for a future death event, it sounds really weird and ominous and has implications of alien shit, in addition to bernie in this movie going on and on about alien energy every 5 minutes.
I really, really tried to like it, but it feels painfully bad bros.
I think they handled mothra really well but man, even with the zany fights and bright colours which was supposed to be the draw it felt so shallow and poorly written/developed
My favorite poster is picrel
Why is there a Godzilla mural in Rome? Is it like an anti-Godzilla message or more like somebody being a fan?
Probably the latter. In a world where kaiju exist, there's probably gonna be a lot of kaiju graffiti.
KIIIIINNNOOOOOOOOOO
South Americans and shit have paintings of Goku and Hitler on the side of their restaurants.
The sense of scale in this shot has always been perfect.
Pure goyslop
Kino
absolute kino, still my favorite all time godzilla movie
Might check it out tomorrow, feel like I already know the entire jist though
I did wonder about this. I thought he was going to use his breath to help him fly around during the zero-g fight too.
I wanna see the prequel movie where Godzilla takes on the entire race of king kongs and wins.
Same. I liked the concept that Scar King had spent millennia seething about getting BTFO'd.
The final battle.
Unless Godzilla dies, I ain't interested in seeing this lad.
He'll kill kong instead
imagine
>an army of aggregate destoroyahs vs Kong and his new monkey bros
>he absorbs all the great apes and transforms into perfect destoroyah
well he survived the oxygen destrroyer and melting down within a couple hours of each other so what can even kill this version?
In the original Godzilla vs Destroyah Godzilla was too powerful for Destroyah to hurt. The main conflict was with Destroyah and Godzilla Jr. Godzilla tore Destroyah apart.
Getting infected by Muto parasites.
Only if. Too bad its fricked since they poorly shoehorn the Oxygen Destroyer in KOTM out of the fricking bloom.
Doesn't matter since they can just drop an oxygen destroyer in the hollow earth and and you have yourself a Destoroya.
If you had to do MV Gamera, how would you handle it?
>godzilla and gamera film
>some gyaos are rampaging
>gamera emerges and tries to save humanity from them
>one of the gyaos becomes super gyaos
>godzilla arrives, is initially unsure of gamera, but then they team up to fight super gyaos.
Solo anon.
A solo Gamera movie with a Monsterverse budget would bomb. It would need Godzilla or Kong in it for the international brand recognition. My plan would still mostly be a Gamera film.
>but then they team up
I'm so tired of every franchise having a team-up plot.
I wouldn't want to see Godzilla or Gamera get their ass beat, and a heroic Goji and Gamera would obviously be friends.
NTA but I wouldn't have Gamera team up with anyone.
Gamera doesn't WORK as a teamup character because it actively goes against a bunch of core character traits that make him unique among Kaiju.
Here's my pitch
>Deep within the jungles of New Guinea, Barugon reawakens after sensing the call of his mate, Shimo
>Due to shenanigans involving the crystal, he's gone nearly stark raving mad
>Godzilla and Kong are nowhere to be found
>Gamera just shows up inexplicably
>Nobody knows where Gamera comes from or why he does what he does
>He just keeps displaying weirder abilities and people keep trying to figure out what the frick he is
>Barugon
Instant kino.
>Gamera just shows up inexplicably
>Nobody knows where Gamera comes from or why he does what he does
>He just keeps displaying weirder abilities and people keep trying to figure out what the frick he is
Is this Shin Gamera? Personally, I wanna see a Gigan and Megalon vs Godzilla and Gamera movie, Gamera can wake up because of the alien threat or whatever. Frick Gyaos, they're jobbers.
Showa Gyaos was a formidable opponent for Gamera.
It's mostly because I can't decide on an origin for him, but here goes
>Gamera is actually the Black Knight Satellite
>Once upon a time, the ancient humans learned how to engineer their own Titans. Maybe from aliens, 2001 style
>Some created gladiators or beasts of burden
>Others created livestock or pets
>But some created living weapons
>Gamera is one of these living weapons. This societies version of a nuclear warhead.
>But he refused to be a WMD for some reason
>He fought against the other bio-weapon Kaiju and defeated them.
>He finally fought against the strongest of them, implied to be Viras, in space, where he did... Something that sunk several continents and exhausted all of his energy
>Now in orbit, he's been drip-fed solar radiation
>Blah blah blah something something
>He just keeps displaying weirder abilities and people keep trying to figure out what the frick he is
>Barugon
LEGENDARY, HIRE THIS MAN
Gamera appearing and just being himself to the bafflement of the entire universe also sounds like instant kino.
I wouldn't let the Americans within a million miles of Gamera.
Also if I had complete control I'd bring back Ghidorah or introduce Gigan and have them team up with the Gyaos.
>Godzilla + Gamera v Gigan + Gyaos
Utter kino.
I disagree.
I need to see Gamera beat the ever loving piss out of Godzilla
GAMERA BROS......
Is that the actual Gamera suit from the first 90s movie? Pretty bad state since he's missing tusk.
No, the real one is at an exhibit
Ah okay. I was about to say since would suck the suit was nothing more than just a paper stand. Say that since find the three 90s films pretty good.
It's a display at a store.
Is it just me or has there been a recent uptick of Gamera hate on /m/
Most like the Heisei films. The Showa and or Toto/CGISeries gets shits on the most.
Go to /m/.
Also frick the Heisei movies Rebirth is better
I can't take Rebirth seriously since it legit looks as bad if not worse than Berserk 2016.
You're missing out. I thought it would be shit but I was pleasantly thrilled.
Anyone who hates on Showa Gamera is a gay.
Once you notice the eyes on Mothra's wings you can't unsee.
I don't think they did. They portrayed her sympathetically (even Godzilla and Kong understood her plight) and she lives to fight another day.
Still doesn't stop Kong from riding her back to Gorilla town. Not really treated like an equal
I dunno, she seems to like the affection he gives her. Kong got HIS Mothra, now.
>Verification not required.
Goddamn right.
That's pervy even for monsters.
Pure kino
Lanky Kong was based it's a shame he had to job so hard. I think he landed literally one strike in the entire final fight.
how does he die
Shimo freezes him into an ice cube and Kong smashes it into pieces
That's the most tame shit I ever heard of. Never mind the violence in the other movies, they showed severed monkey heads in this one and end up with this saturday morning cartoon villain death?
For what it's worth, anon, they were noticeably bloody pieces of ice.
the whole movie felt like a saturday morning cartoon, probably intentionally cause my theater was packed with 8 year olds kek
As I was watching it, I was really hoping it was going to be something like Kong either plants his axe in Scar King's back, or just holds him in place, as Godzilla and Shimo duo-beam him to death.
I was hoping Godzilla and Scar King would fight each other more, considering Godzilla is the one that banished and trapped Scar King in the depths.
How the hell are these monkeys living this long?
Why are they living in Mordor when they could just hop over to the hollow earth jungle?
I love how Skar moved, but he shows up way too late in the film and doesn't get much to do besides wave the shimo crystal around.
I thought his movements were very capoeira influenced, but that was only in the first fight and shit got lost in the final battle.
No Millie, no watchie
She got replaced by a deaf female character and the movie was far less annoying to watch. Amazing.
>no millie
No watchie then
Millie hit the wall so replaced her with Hoddle, who is flowering into a real Hottie.
cutie pie
KINO is back...
SLOP has resurfaced...
FUN has returned...
I dunno man. I thought it was pretty shit. I really hope you enjoy it but I was just bored
Eh it does look like total mindless slop, haven't seen it yet actually but I look forward to seeing it this weekend
I don't agree but I see where you were going with it and you should have said FUN + 1.
I thought it was really fricking weird that the baby kong never gets named in the movie, like i know from the toys his name is suko but you would think that since they went through the trouble of actually making him a fun little character they would call him something beyond "mini-kong". Felt like a lot was cut form the movie.
Just like GvK then. It was obvious that movie got absolutely butchered in editing.
>By the way, here's another Serizawa. Oh look, he's dead.
They might have done it as an homage to the original Son of Kong. The crew called him "Kiko" but he never actually gets named in the movie.
I was also surprised there weren't more scenes with Doug, considering they went to the trouble of bringing him back. I was sure he was going to have a cutesy moment with Suko, or try to help Kong when he's injured and being chased by the evil apes.
Doug only came back because Wingard likes him.
I like his design so I hope he comes back if Wingard does another movie.
I want Godzilla to sit on my face.
It was kidkino. All the kids in the audience had a great time.
This is very true, the kids in my pretty packed theatre went nuts when kong decks the beta slave driver ape
This is what I want. Wingard is clearly going for the childlike fun side of the kaiju genre, I think I'm gonna enjoy this movie a lot as a contrast to the dark "horror" side that Minus One delivered.
Liked GvK more than KotM for some reason, and I think it was this. Wingard even made a good point recently about how he thinks these movies are going to transition back to the themes and mood of 2014 Godzilla and how they're at the tipping point of the Showa era now (not verbatim obviously) but it shows how he really understands that these movies don't need to follow a strict set of rules.
you know what, even if the movie isn't what I would've wanted I'm legit happy that kids get a big monster smash movie in theaters and want the toys and shit.
Those scenes weren't a nonstop barrage of reddit quips and sex jokes, so it was infinitely better than KotM.
As long as there's no
>LOOK WE'RE BEING FUNNY HAHA
moments then it's instantly better than KOTM.
There were definitely quips and jokes but i genuinely think it went over a lot better than kotm's
To add on to this with
this guys point, dan stevens sold every line they gave him perfectly and was no contest the best part of the cast.
Dan Stevens needs to be in MORE things. Love this guy.
Dan Stevens and Adam Wingard made one of the best films of the past 10 years.
the made a second godzilla? lame
And its shit. Just another quality release of the Monsterverse.
I went into the movie not really understanding all the details that would be included, I was very surprised to see that Mothra was coming back. I love her so goddamn much.
It's exactly like everyone predicted: shitty schlock.
>Fun, once
>But, you knew you shouldn't have paid to see it
The reception is mixed enough on a board that's normally full doomer-mode that I'm gonna pay to see it. Can't be that bad.
It was better than expected tbh, that is if you like Kong.
>you shouldn't have paid to see it
But I don't have good sound system
No one expected him to have style and grace.
Worst Godzilla design since All Monsters Attack. Maybe worse.
>Worst Godzilla design since All Monsters Attack.
Think you meant to say Son of Godzilla. All Monsters Attack Godzilla was the one from Destroy All Monsters.
Precisely this suit
why do they constantly frick up? it can't be that hard to make a good godzilla film for frick's sake.
It's good though.
A lot of fans seem positive about it but say it is pretty a Kong movie
Last one was also a Kong movie. Just shows the ip hold of Godzilla is weakening as did hear rumors they may kill off Godzilla entirely soon since Toho isn't all that happy how the Monsterverse is panning out.
>Toho isn't all that happy how the Monsterverse is panning out.
This is bullshit btw.
Kong was the protagonist in GvK but the plot revolved around Godzilla and in the end they fought a Godzilla enemy.
Also find me one shred of evidence that Toho isn't happy with the Monsterverse. They oversee all these movies and distribute them in Japan
>Solly misah american producah man we no ronger want financial success from your movies and tons of merch residuals we want you kirr off godzilla prease.
In what fricking universe is this believable?
The one where Minus One won an Oscar
Toho didn't want to do Shin 2. Anno had ideas for it but Toho wasn't interested.
>Toho hates the movies that they approve everything in and profit from.
If they really liked them, then we'd see more toho branded monsters instead of the offbrand knockoffs here that isn't Mothra.
>then we'd see more toho branded monsters
There was a Toho monster last monster.
>last monster.
*last movie
kek it's time for bed, I'm fricking up my posts. Night bros.
Yeah because Legendary still has the rights to Mechagodzilla from Ready Player One since it wouldn't expire until after GvK came out along with Godzilla and the other 3 toho monsters as well.
Looked it up and it doesn't look like Legendary had anything to do with Ready Player One. They also seeminly don't license out monsters besides Godzilla for more than one movie, which is why none of the others appeared in Godzilla vs Kong.
Legendary didn't make Ready Player One, Warner Bros did but Legendary isn't owned by WB they just work with them for distribution, its why Monarch was on Apple
literally making shit up
literally on wikizilla and plenty of other kaiju based sites. You seriously fricking think Toho would NOT want to make a Shin Godzilla sequel, let alone a live action movie for how much dough it made lol?
Toho wanted to move on from Shin because they were interested in making a franchise instead, they called it "World of Godzilla" or something like that.
Ignore him. He's just a hollywood slop enjoyer who shit his pants in fear with Minus One came to the states.
i dont even like the Legendary movies, but how does that make Legendary making Ready Player One or Shimo being Spacegodzilla true?
Legendary partnership with Warner Bros as the parent company or in this case senior. This case WB let legendary borrow mechagodzilla from its own CR in the IP distribution outside japan. Shimo being a repurposed Space Godzilla was again a early concept mockup for this film shortly after GvK came out around the time of the renegotiation deal was being set. Same leak was implied that Legendary also wanted to make a Gargantua film after this one and presented a mock up sculp of Gaira to Toho.
Ok fine, give me sources on these "leaks". let me guess forum posts and wikis anyone can edit?
Not him, but I can edit your butthole if that's what you seek here.
>Same leak was implied that Legendary also wanted to make a Gargantua film
Biggest red flag that this is bullshit. They would never do this. They won't even do a Mothra or Rodan solo film.
Not entirely a red flag since the concept phase they had in mind for the Gargantua's that they would be the same species or similar to what Kong is rather than them being spawns of Frankenstein. Also keep in mind Mothra was dead and Rodan for some reason continues to be MIA.
I want to filter your posts by IP because you are shitting up this thread with your drooling and moronation.
Hey me again from
. I wanna filter you too and by filter I mean your bussy :).
>Rodan continues to be MIA
I know that comic said the other monsters went into hiding but that’s literally not the canon of the movies. If Godzilla senses another monster he just goes and kills it. That happened twice in New Empire, not including when Kong showed up and Godzilla went apeshit on him.
He wouldn't kill Rodan because they're friends.
>If Godzilla senses another monster he just goes and kills it
scylla attacked rome while he killed tiamat because she attacked back
thats just them fricking up GKOTM premise. the frick was the point of making them all bow.
He was giving them a head start.
>Rodan for some reason continues to be MIA.
I liked that New Empire confirmed "Don't worry, all the GKOTM Titans are back and active and doing stuff again." I didn't like that Scylla got blown to bits.
>Rodan
Anon, I…
Defeated with kindness.
Defeated =/= Killed. I think it was more "put them in their place"
Dude Godzilla killed every single monster that ever appeared on screen horribly besides Mothra. He even killed Kong if the humans didn’t defibrillate him. Rodan got fricking slaughtered. I guess you’re right in that Godzilla didn’t kill Rodan on screen but there’s no reason why he would obliterate Kong and every single other monster but spare Rodan for no reason.
He didn't kill ANY of the Titans, anon. That's the point. He just won fights with them, or they counted them submitting to him as their Alpha as "defeating" them. GvsK listed Scylla as "defeated" in 2021 and she's very much still alive in 2024.
There’s several of those bug guys and idk what you’re talking about, every monster he meets he exhaled raw nuclear energy down their throat.
Then what's the point of the ending of GKOTM if he's just gonna mercilessly slaughter everyone? Godzilla only fricks with other kaiju if they're being a problem.
NTA but he literally went over to rape Tiamat's shit because her lair was housing energy he needed. homie just took her shit when she was minding her own business.
That rubbed me the wrong way. Why would Godzilla treat female titans like that?
I love how this movie debunks hero Godzilla.
Turns out all he wants is to preserve his rule
>debunks
As we saw in GvsK, Godzilla can go a little nuts when he detects old enemies starting to resurface. While she didn't deserve getting blown into chunks, Tiamat should've respected her Alpha.
Stop thinking your headcanon is what happened. we have no info on rodan. thats that.
It’s not my headcannon. Do I have to screenshot each time Godzilla tore something’s head off in this franchise and post it for you?
Screenshot Rodan's death then. Oh right you can't its your stupid headcanon.
All those "defeats" are credited to Ghidorah, meaning when he took control in GKOTM. Notice that Scylla (middle left row) is listed as "defeated" even though she's obviously still around for New Empire.
>the concept phase they had in mind for the Gargantua's that they would be the same species or similar to what Kong is rather than them being spawns of Frankenstein.
That would be too kino for a film series like this. I would've like Gaira and Skar King teaming up against Godzilla, Kong and Sanda for war of the pro human apes vs anti human apes.
Mean if you really thing about it Skar King is basically Gaira and Kong is Sanda if were talking about two hairy ass monster beating each other up.
The why didn't they make when they changed the agreement
this guy is correct
Called renegotiating the deal once the current expires. Now the deal is legendary can keep Godzilla around in their films (for now). and in turn Toho now gets to make whatever the frick they want to do with Godzilla with no hold backs or whats. TDLR, they did a reverse uno card on Legendary since they know the Monsterverse would be dead in the water if they lost Godzilla.
yes so if Toho can make whatever they want and they were dying to make Shin 2, why wouldn't they? If it was because Anno didn't feel like it why would he state otherwise in an interview?
>yes so if Toho can make whatever they want and they were dying to make Shin 2, why wouldn't they?
Because Minus One is now to go to sequel to be made now after outgrossing Shin in not just a domestic sense, but a international one as well. Also the fact that Shin 2 made more sense back say 3-5 years ago and not say nearly 10 years held back from the first.
They could have made it instead of Minus One, which Yamazaki has not even been given a greenlight from Toho to make a sequel to, despite him publically saying he wanted to multiple times. Also its really not that big of a gap. Biolante was 5 years after Return of Godzilla
>2014: Godzilla
>GKOTM: Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah.
>GvsK: Godzilla, Mechagodzilla.
>GxKTNE: Godzilla, Mothra.
The same thing holds true for the tag teams of Megalon and Gigan, and Titanosaurus and Mechagodzilla.
>They have to throw in some new monsters occasionally.
And they tend to suck ass or look completely unoriginal. Not sure why Americans just can't design a fricking monster that looks unique anymore.
>Not sure why Americans just can't design a fricking monster that looks unique anymore.
The MUTOs are pretty unique and alien-looking.
>The MUTOs are pretty unique and alien-looking.
No not really. The MUTOS or this case the female one is a outright reskin of Clover with a xenomorph coat of paint.
Haven't seen the movie but imo Shimo looks good and fits nicely within the Godzilla kaiju cast. Scar King is decent as well.
Shimo was a repurposed Space Godzilla after when the licensing agreement fell though since Legendary didn't want to pay Toho the price they asked.
Shimo is just Barugon but less spiky and cool
Was thinking more Anguirus, but he's dead
SpaceGodzilla would make no sense in that role. Obvious bullshit.
Was a early concept draft that making rounds which Space Godzilla would've been responsible for the creation of the hollow earth and explain why crystals are everywhere inside. Also implied to be the first Godzilla that got mutated by the comet that hit the earth and turned it into Space-Godzilla. Least so the leaks were implied. Skar King was always going to be in the movie however.
People forget that Spacegodzilla is carried entirely by headcanon, comics, and the Pipeworks triology.
He’s one of those monsters that deserves to be forgotten
Spacegodzilla has a fair bit of characterization in his movie, he seems like a dick.
And all those three things were more kino than whatever the monsterverse shits out.
I don't get it, Anon. I know this is full "my dad works at Nintendo" tier but I've worked with Toho for nearly a decade, including on things related to Minus One in the US, and they're super hands-on with Godzilla. There's approval committees for everything involving him.
Because the people making bullshit up are under 30 year old NEETS who fap to GodzillaXMothra fanfics. They have their own idea of Godzilla largely based off fandom and can't comprehend how Japanese salary men would think
r/monsterverse is shilling the movie? Shocker.
She could have saved it.
who okayd killing off scylla? these original kaiju barely appear now some dumbass thinks just offing them is fine?
As much as I didn't like that, I'm just happy it wasn't Behemoth. I would've pissed for the rest of the film.
>I would've pissed
I meant to say "I would've BEEN pissed," but I like the mental image of me being so enraged I just urinate non-stop for the entire rest of the film's runtime.
Was minus one better?
Completely different films. Minus One is an ominous, sombre solo film. New Empire is a giant-monsters-defend-the-world slamfest. It's like comparing The Dark Knight to the first Avengers movie.
The worst thing about the movie was that all the other monsterverse's had these banger historical montage title sequences and then this one did not.
>There are people unironically shilling this slop
Grim
Is this true? Is this Marvel's Godzilla? Will not be watching if so
Monsterverse is basically just the MCU with Giant Monsters, with bad quips and cgi effects to boot.
It's better than Marvelslop.
Like comparing a turd to a turd with icecream sprinkes.
No more so than GKOTM or GvsK, so if you've seen those, it's just more of that.
Shimu or Mothra?
Kong at the end got an adopted son, a taxi/horse Shimo, a cool gauntlet, recovered his axe & now has a family/kingdom of apes to protect.
I feel good for him.
odds that the next installment is more OC monsters?
just bring back the director of kotm and have him use gigan and megalon. if not that, then the director of the 2014 one and have him use hedorah and biollante
If this one does as well as its projected to do then there might be a Toho monster. If it does only okay then it will probably be all OCs, besides maybe Mothra again.
The Roman Colosseum is Godzilla´s bed now. kek
So, what happened was that the Mothra from 2019 was resurrected, right? Not that a new Mothra was born?
It’s a different Mothra but I guess you can still say it’s just Mothra if it’s a reincarnation.
The only reason I'm not sure is because there was no egg or larva, she just kinda formed out of sparkly dust, which is what 2019 Mothra burst into.
So basically Mothra was inside Godzilla and then expulsed out when he evolved to his pink form?
I think Mothra’s sacrifice was just a temporary buff for Godzilla. I think Godzilla eating Tiamat was unrelated to Mothra.
No, she's thousands and thousands of miles from Godzilla when she reincarnates and he has no idea she's around until she physically appears in front of him in Egypt.
>No, she's thousands and thousands of miles from Godzilla when she reincarnates
Which is like 5 minutes away since the series introduced fricking warpzones.
Godzilla and Kong were over 3,000km apart yet yelling at each other. Godzilla showed up at Kong's location a few minutes later.
Oh great, they turned Godzilla into pic related.
Why can't the Monsterverse have cohesive lore?
Because Hollywood tends to be inconsistent as frick. Look at the nu-wars trilogy.
>Look at the nu-wars trilogy.
I never had the chance to watch those since anons on Cinemaphile told me not to
You spared yourself if so.
>that pic
WTF DELETE THIS
Gorosaurus...
I'm sorry Gorobro, I did not think you'd be in this thread!
It more or less did, 2014, KSI and KOTM fit well enough. It's just GvK went full on crazy with the Hollow Earth shit and Godzilla beating up all the other monsters offscreen and now everything is such a mess that there is no easy way to tell a coherent story anymore.
Get me a time machine.
anon, reincarnation is mothra's thing
Mothra frequently dies and gets reborn. It's likely a new incarnation of Mothra from the egg that got teased.
We cool?
I'm still fricking bothered the top one wasn't Titanosaurus. SP would've been cool if all the kaijus were based on actual animals.
No.
>dude what if...shin godzilla again for no reason, lol? check out our references to ourselves!
Underrated King Kong Kino
No it’s not. This is one of the worst pieces of shit ever made, not meming or anything. Really bad movie.
Gay opinion. This is probably the second best Kong movie, it's great. Kong looks so good in it.
I just watched it recently because I’d never seen it before. Idk why you’re trying to defend it, even the pic you posted looks like a joke.
>Idk why you’re trying to defend it
Because it's a very good giant monster movie and I love King Kong.
>even the pic you posted looks like a joke.
It's obviously supposed to be funny.
This movie is everything I hate about the Godzilla fanbase in one movie.
>Pointless power wank
>Fanfic shipping
At the same time
>Shimo caused the first Ice Age
Why? Was it intentional? Why did she stop?
You'd think a monster capable of that would be stronger
Probably woke up Godzilla and that’s when he BTFO shimo and all the apes in the first place. As we see in the end shimo was gonna do the ice age thing again but Godzilla reversed it.
>As we see in the end shimo was gonna do the ice age thing again but Godzilla reversed it.
Is there anything this fricking lizard can't do?
Lose apparently because at this rate they just keep making Godzilla more and more overpowered
Reminder Godzilla killed an innocent monster for no reason
based as frick, where was that energy vs mechagodzilla tho
feel like they have no idea what to do with him anymore
How is it Ghidorah can order countless monsters to destroy humanity across the globe
But Godzilla can't order one titan minding its own business to share some radiation?
Wingard hates KOTM.
Because King Ghidorah unironically would have made a better king of the earth (for monsters) than Godzilla. Godzilla is an butthole.
What was the stupidest scene in your opinion?
Godzilla literally drinking radiation
>I drank the nuclear waste.
godzilla inhaling the radiation like he's kirby
I completely misinterpreted this. I thought that he was still in Bad Ape territory during the second sequence with the traps but that makes sense.
Kong saving that guy only for that mf to immediately turn on him that was fricked. Reminded me of Megatron saving Optimus only for Optimus to whirl around and behead him horribly.
Kong showed him mercy and in return the bad ape tried to knife him.
He's saying the scene was stupid from the bad ape's perspective since he doubled down and still try to shank Kong.
killing off scylla and tiamat. genuinely frick whoever okd that.
idk why you guys are all so butthurt >GODZILLA isn’t a kind benevolent king, he’s a hideous horrible nuclear t-rex
Not a huge deal though, as long as he's not killing the major monsters.
he's just acting like he did in final wars
All the monsters in Final Wars were being mindcontrolled by aliens and Godzilla had no personal history with any of them.
I can guarantee we'll get some kind of secondary media that'll explain that the Scylla in the movie was some adolescent who refused to fall in line and the one from KOTM is still out there vibing
I mean at least Scylla was justified since she was fricking shit up.
I'm just happy they're throwing in more fights. I can accept that those monsters were probably dicks who got what they deserved.
whats wrong with that?
the original kaiju barely get any screen time or appearances anon. killing them off willy knilly just feels gratuitous.
>Because they're already been designed, Anon.
Tiamat wasn't. She's only been in comic books until now. To include her in New Empire means Legendary went out of their way to include a previously established character the audience/fans were already familiar with.
>They are not headliners in any sense.
Sure, but they could become the supporting cast of the MonsterVerse. Behemoth, Methuselah, the Queen Muto, etc. could be the MonsterVerse equivalents of Anguirus, Gorosaurus, Kumonga, etc. - the Earth monsters that may not like Godzilla, but will back him up when the bigger threats show up.
>a waste by Legendary.
The weird chosen one plotline
Honestly the Iwi in general feel really shoe horned in and awkward
>That scene in the throne room with a bunch of battered female apes carrying red furred babies
They did a good job of making Scar King a c**t.
>Skar King and Shimo out of the picture in the hollow earth
>Power vacuum is filled by resurgent Seatopia and their God Megalon, ancient enemies of the Mothra people
>Gigan arrives on earth to find Ghidorah and figure out why the frick earth isn't prepped for invasion yet
>Monarch uses the principles of the orca, specs of mecha godzilla and anti-gravity tech to build a prototype mass shifting Titan Liaison System named: Joint Automated Geometrically Ultrarelative Assessment Robot
Let's fricking go Legendary, the iron is as hot as it's ever going to get.
The Monarch director woman... Did anyone else get the vibe that the movie really wanted her to be Dr. Graham, but she obviously couldn't be since Dougherty killed her off?
I miss Vivian.
When will they introduce an egg for Godzilla to find and watch over? I want some death flags for this incarnation already.
>death flags
I have a sneaking suspicion the whole "monster who ate a star" thing is a hook line a for a future death event, it sounds really weird and ominous and has implications of alien shit, in addition to bernie in this movie going on and on about alien energy every 5 minutes.
Shame Toho won't allow Wingard to make any references to members of Godzilla's species.
There was a Planet X easter egg on the conspiracy theorist's podcast playlist. I assume there's loads of other shit like this too.
I really, really tried to like it, but it feels painfully bad bros.
I think they handled mothra really well but man, even with the zany fights and bright colours which was supposed to be the draw it felt so shallow and poorly written/developed
Monke
Big monke
