Destoroyah jobbed to the JSDF and their freeze-rays. His Variable Slicer attack was powerful enough to wound Godzilla, but Destoroyah was only able to overpower and kill Godzilla Junior.
Yes, ish? Even when Godzilla went full rage, he couldn't put Destroyah down and even though Godzilla's regeneration was at the most absurd it is in any generation, we're talking at the level it could instantly repair him getting cut fricking in half, he still couldn't keep up and was getting worn down. In addition to that, this Godzilla is stupidly stronger than normal due to being so powerful he's an actual walking apocalypse. Not one of those silly ass "Maybe all the humans die" of GvKG Apocalypse, full on "Melt the planet and detonate it" apocalypse, and Destroyah was still beating his ass. Without the Super X and Freeze Cannons backup, the same stuff that could prevent said apocalypse and coincidentally cold is Destoryah's one canonical weakness, Godzilla doesn't win before he literally melts from being too powerful.
In a straight 1V1 in Vs Destroyah, Des wins every time, but Godzilla essentially had backup that had Destroyah's kryptonite on hand. Of course Final Wars Godzilla would've just chucked his ass into the sun but that's a whole other issue.

Watch the movie again man, the final battle is mostly Godzilla wailing on Destoroyah, it's spitting up blood from his punches and doing tricks like exploding into a swarm to try avoiding a direct fight. In the end Destoroyah ultimately tries to flee. It never stood a chance against Burning Godzilla.

I think you're misremembering it.
Destroyah constantly bodied Godzilla when it got close quarters and dragged him around then tossed him with his tail, the only time Godzilla did any damage was with the beam spam, even his punch on the chest spikes only hit where he''d already blown a chunk out with his beam. He managed to outlast Godzilla till he went full meltdown despite Godzilla onscreen healing from every hit the instant it happened. Also neat thing I myself didn't notice, Destroyah repairs himself when he splits then recombines. It's the only time any damage gets undone from him in the entire fight.
Lastly the "Fleeing" was more trying to avoid the in progress meltdown, Godzilla was dead at that point regardless and Destroyah had managed to survive his limit break attack. Without the Super X and ice masers there to snipe him as he tries to flee and force him back into the meltdown zone, there's no way Burning Godzilla wins.

By my own admittance, I'm not a big fan of the Toho movies so I can't really speak on that. For some reason though Shin Godzilla's people were engaging for me, especially since they were just a bunch of pencil pushers forced to try and navigate this unknown threat.
Monsterverse is hit or miss for me since characters come and go throughout the movies/lose relevance. I'm a familygay though so I was invested in the plot of "will scientistmom lose her iwi priestess daughter".
Obviously the original had some strong human characters, everyone knows Serizawa even though he's barely in the movie, he left that big an impression. Miki(Psychic girl from Heisei) was great, seeing her develop over time and grow from a side character into sort of the central focus of the human side of things was wonderful. Regardless of the rest of the movie, the soldier in Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah who eventually dies to Godzilla gave an amazing arc. Akane(Kiryu's pilot) is also great, really a prototype for Minus 1's protagonist. Of course the Showa protags are the exact level of absurd and crazy we've come to love, like a fricking princess heist for a lady who thinks she's a venusian(Martian in english) in the middle of Ghidorah, and of course the cast of Minus 1 are just the best.
She was great. Now, the guy who took over in the next movie was blander than a sack of rocks, but she had a concise character arc that was understandable and she had a cool thing going with Kiryu.
Sure, objectively the Minus 1 protagonist is just her arc but done way better, but my opinion ain't swaying.

I just got home from this. It was okay. The first half I was really liking more than the previous movie, then the 2nd half, was probably worse. I had fun though, there were some cool fights.

The villain Skar King is a European ape with blue eyes who uses a whip and has an army of enslaved black African apes, he then has Shimo, a White female creature as his slave. The White female creature is then "liberated" by a transgender Godzilla and King Kong, Kong is overtly and obviously meant to represent blacks. So you have a coalition of black men, white women, and trannies, fighting and killing the White man Skar King, then you throw in the Godzilla trans plotline, and it's just pure fricking filth.
Godzilla fans are literally one of the luckiest canvases in the world for the past decade to be honest. Not only is their IP hitting records but it’s consistently profitable enough that the next future installments are basically self assured at this point.
I want them to take a risk & do a King Caesar movie similar to Skull Island. Then they can have have a larger group of "allied" kaiju so it isn't always Goji & Long, & it let's them have fights between him & lesser bad guy kaiju that shouldn't be a threat to Goji. This could also work to build up to Destroy All Monsters & a great big apocalyptic kaiju finale movie later on

Its not like they were Shobijin. Two random adult twins are not tiny ethereal fairies. They weren't even present when Mothra did hatch in KOTM and the whole scene with the asian lady explaining it was fast and brushed over anyway. I like that Mothra in GxK was treated like a guardian again and has a connection to an ancient, Infant Island was basically Skull Island in the original Mothra anyway, But yeah still weird she skipped the egg and larvae form but they probably just wanted to get to the point and not have people think it was a different Mothra though I always saw her kids as new Mothras and not literally the same one but still the same idea

People keep insisting that it is a dumb but entertaining monster movie with epic action scenes but barely any human focus. To me it felt like the first half or 2/3 of the movie was an exposition filled snoozefest with some cool Kong scenes sprinkled in, while the final part was just a bunch of rushed, weightless fights with none of the sense of scale of the previous movies. Also, Godzilla barely does anything and some of his scenes look like absolute shit, which is crazy considering how good the 2014 movie looked.

Yes, ish? Even when Godzilla went full rage, he couldn't put Destroyah down and even though Godzilla's regeneration was at the most absurd it is in any generation, we're talking at the level it could instantly repair him getting cut fricking in half, he still couldn't keep up and was getting worn down. In addition to that, this Godzilla is stupidly stronger than normal due to being so powerful he's an actual walking apocalypse. Not one of those silly ass "Maybe all the humans die" of GvKG Apocalypse, full on "Melt the planet and detonate it" apocalypse, and Destroyah was still beating his ass. Without the Super X and Freeze Cannons backup, the same stuff that could prevent said apocalypse and coincidentally cold is Destoryah's one canonical weakness, Godzilla doesn't win before he literally melts from being too powerful.
In a straight 1V1 in Vs Destroyah, Des wins every time, but Godzilla essentially had backup that had Destroyah's kryptonite on hand. Of course Final Wars Godzilla would've just chucked his ass into the sun but that's a whole other issue.

Watch the movie again man, the final battle is mostly Godzilla wailing on Destoroyah, it's spitting up blood from his punches and doing tricks like exploding into a swarm to try avoiding a direct fight. In the end Destoroyah ultimately tries to flee. It never stood a chance against Burning Godzilla.

I think you're misremembering it.
Destroyah constantly bodied Godzilla when it got close quarters and dragged him around then tossed him with his tail, the only time Godzilla did any damage was with the beam spam, even his punch on the chest spikes only hit where he''d already blown a chunk out with his beam. He managed to outlast Godzilla till he went full meltdown despite Godzilla onscreen healing from every hit the instant it happened. Also neat thing I myself didn't notice, Destroyah repairs himself when he splits then recombines. It's the only time any damage gets undone from him in the entire fight.
Lastly the "Fleeing" was more trying to avoid the in progress meltdown, Godzilla was dead at that point regardless and Destroyah had managed to survive his limit break attack. Without the Super X and ice masers there to snipe him as he tries to flee and force him back into the meltdown zone, there's no way Burning Godzilla wins.
Godzilla going all out is always great.

The plots in the Showa films were generally good.
By my own admittance, I'm not a big fan of the Toho movies so I can't really speak on that. For some reason though Shin Godzilla's people were engaging for me, especially since they were just a bunch of pencil pushers forced to try and navigate this unknown threat.
Monsterverse is hit or miss for me since characters come and go throughout the movies/lose relevance. I'm a familygay though so I was invested in the plot of "will scientistmom lose her iwi priestess daughter".
Obviously the original had some strong human characters, everyone knows Serizawa even though he's barely in the movie, he left that big an impression. Miki(Psychic girl from Heisei) was great, seeing her develop over time and grow from a side character into sort of the central focus of the human side of things was wonderful. Regardless of the rest of the movie, the soldier in Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah who eventually dies to Godzilla gave an amazing arc. Akane(Kiryu's pilot) is also great, really a prototype for Minus 1's protagonist. Of course the Showa protags are the exact level of absurd and crazy we've come to love, like a fricking princess heist for a lady who thinks she's a venusian(Martian in english) in the middle of Ghidorah, and of course the cast of Minus 1 are just the best.

But that's the thing that disappoints me, the fact we though we were getting more Godzilla, only we didn't and the fact it's his 70th Year Anniversary, it makes even more disappointing to me.
I honestly didn't like how similar it was to GvK 2021. Godzilla being an butthole, Kong doing his own thing, then finally they team up to fight a baddy.
I did like the Kong scenes without dialogue, it's the one thing MonsterVerse did right; adding more emphasis to the Kaiju as they go along.

Insane how this movie has the balls to have entire sequences with apes where there's no dialogue or even subtitles, reminds me of that live action Lion King where they wanted to make everything as "photorealistic" as possible but are unable to make the fricking characters emote without speaking while this goofy monkey movie has the confidence to pull it off.

The villain Skar King is a European ape with blue eyes who uses a whip and has an army of enslaved black African apes, he then has Shimo, a White female creature as his slave. The White female creature is then "liberated" by a transgender Godzilla and King Kong, Kong is overtly and obviously meant to represent blacks. So you have a coalition of black men, white women, and trannies, fighting and killing the White man Skar King, then you throw in the Godzilla trans plotline, and it's just pure fricking filth.

This could also work to build up to Destroy All Monsters & a great big apocalyptic kaiju finale movie later on

Yeah, They even seemed to ignore their own post-credits tease when they mentioned yet another egg was found. In GxK they just casually explain that Jia is needed to bring back Mothra and just like that she uses her new iwi priestess powers to resurrect Mothra out of thin air.
Its not like they were Shobijin. Two random adult twins are not tiny ethereal fairies. They weren't even present when Mothra did hatch in KOTM and the whole scene with the asian lady explaining it was fast and brushed over anyway. I like that Mothra in GxK was treated like a guardian again and has a connection to an ancient, Infant Island was basically Skull Island in the original Mothra anyway, But yeah still weird she skipped the egg and larvae form but they probably just wanted to get to the point and not have people think it was a different Mothra though I always saw her kids as new Mothras and not literally the same one but still the same idea
Yeah, they weren't. It just seemed like a fun little easter egg at the time that might have been expanded upon in future installments, but this is what we got. Also watch the scene again, the other twin is there with Brooks, but without looking it up I don't recall her having any real lines herself. As you said, the fact that Chen's even got a twin is glossed over.
