Skar King was a b***h. He couldn't really do shit on his own without the crystal. Kong bodied him with the exception of the one time he whipped him around the neck and choked. Overall though, he was scared shitless of Godzilla and without Shimo was pretty fricking useless.
The best parts of the movie for me where anytime monkeys were getting wrecked. When Kong picked up Suko and used him as a weapon I damn near pissed myself in the theater. It was even funnier the second time.
At this point, Kong is King and Wingard has already said the next movie is all Godzilla. Not too many places to go, but I hope they do Gigan or Megalon. As silly as alien invasion may seem, Ghidorah was an alien, so there's clearly life out there. They may as well just go full Showa at this point and embrace it.

I don't know that I want them to go to space, but aliens showing up and asking to borrow Godzilla like in Invasion of Astro Monster might work. They they can control him for a bit and they'll have Gigan as well. Or maybe the film opens with Godzilla fighting Anguirus, or Rodan. They could always say Ghidorah was one of his species and they have a new one to deal with. They could do a modern Astro Monster without too much effort. Maybe have Mothra cameo in the end just because? Or she shows up and smacks sense into Godzilla and Rodan? There's options out there.

She is. And I like the design they chose for this more than in 2019. I didn't hate that, but this one is more yellow/black/brown like her Showa design. She's the defender of the Iwi that live deep in Hollow Earth and Jia basically summons her into existence as per their prophecy.
It's kind of funny to think that THIS is the most successful non-MCU cinematic universe.
DC Comics couldn't do it, the Dark Universe was a punchline from the start, we're not even going to talk about Sony's attempts to build a universe around only Spider-Man characters. But the Monsterverse just keeps trucking along.
It's not funny at all if you actually think about it. Kaiju slop has always been a shared cinematic universe really, and it works so well because all you need to make it work is giant monsters.
In the long run, after "The Avengers" it probably would've made sense to just keep making Avengers movies instead of splitting them up again. Monsterverse seems to be on that idea with Godzilla and Kong.
It's probably because there's a movie every two/three years. We've only had 5 movies in 10 years, that's less that any other cinematic universe had planned for 6 years. Also DC had a lot of failures, but they also had the bigger profits in some movies.
I'd just like the next movie or movies to not have Kong in them, he's found his monkey family his arc is over and frankly I'm tired of him being the main focus
He is a Skar King baby so they must be bigger as kids. Kong was meant to be young in Skull Island, he's like a teenager. The bigger Kong in GvK is him as an adult.
This movie ended the debate on who would win between Godzilla and Kong and the answer is Godzilla. Kong is already becoming a middle aged monkey as evidenced by his infected tooth, which required a dental implant. Kong also has an injured arm that needs to be supported by a prosthetic. Meanwhile, Godzilla can live millions of years without seeing the dentist or needing a walking cane. Sorry Kong supporters but Kong can not fight Father Time as well as Godzilla can and will likely retire by the next Godzilla x Kong movie
