Red spiral breath? What's wrong with it? Or is it a character change? Is Godzilla more sympathetic this time like he was in KotM so the audience actually cares about him?
Like a live action Saturday morning cartoon. More scifi elements than before.
Roughly the size of Kong's chest, has a pet Wart Dog, the same species as Dog from the Skull Island Netflix show.
Light brown fur with more friendly face.
Does Godzilla grow wings or does he just go Super Sayian?
Godzilla's upgrade form is a slimmer 2014 design with aspects of Stan Winston's unused design.
Godzilla's body vibrates and "deflates", reinforces itself to be more mobile and sleek, his original spines literally breaking apart to reveal fleshy, pulsating spines.
They make heartbeat sounds along with the normal charge sound they make when Godzilla using his atomic breath.
Able to jump and more walking on all fours.
No longer has the small head syndrome, not anorexic but considerably slimmer than before. Still looks like Monsterverse Godzilla but more dramatic change.
Pic related but with patterns of MV Godzilla and more spikes on body/arms.
Red spiral breath? What's wrong with it? Or is it a character change? Is Godzilla more sympathetic this time like he was in KotM so the audience actually cares about him?
The upgrade is a mutation is sorts and mores him more aggressive, similar to a Teenager going through puberty type rage.
Red breath and melts Shimu's crystals, but not the red beam from 90s movies.
Does my boy Rodan even get mentioned.
No, still MIA.
There is a new bird Titan though.
How much actual big monster fight vs bullshit human drama no one cares about
Plenty of monster action, but also a lot of focus on humans, but the human parts arent as bad this time.
I don't know if I trust Wingard with Godzilla. I guess it depends where he's gonna be at the end of the movie I mean his place in the worldm relations with humans and other monsters and so on. If that suggests something interesting in the future I'll be happy but not "omg he's evil now, help us based Kong"
>Pic related but with patterns of MV Godzilla and more spikes on body/arms.
Fricking sick. How about the soundtrack? Is it similar to the last movie more or less? Any stand outs?
About as lackluster as GvK, though our screening may have been early version of it.
Is Gigan in it
No new Toho monsters are in, Legendary only has Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla.
Do Kong and Zilla fight again, or just team up?
[...]
Also this. What do the other Kongs look like?
Godzilla gets angry at Kong for releasing Scar King and pushes him through a pyramid, they team up though and both travel into the Hollow Earth together, cool imagery. At the end Godzilla's about to attack Scar King's old group by Kong steps in and basically says "I got them now, they're mine, back off", Godzilla coming to senses and leaves.
Is it gonna be good?
How much Lanky Kong will there be?
Any other kaiju?
Any of them cute?
I enjoyed it, it's a popcorn movie.
Scar King is in it quite a bit.
Doug returns, a new bird Titan and a larger form of the Dog from Skull Island Netflix series.

>Godzilla coming to senses and leaves. >thanks for all the ticket sales you can go now
I think Wingard is preparing the audience for Kong replacing Godzilla and slowly phasing out Toho characters so he and the writing team doesn't give him much to do and he gets nothing but antagonistic moments so the audience doesn't miss him.
Monsterverse will continue to have Godzilla in it as long as Toho and Legendary keep this partnership. Kong is a back up character, but if Godzilla leaves the Monsterverse it will end shortly after.
You know... sooner or later they'll have to wake Mothra up.
No mention of her either.
Ghidroah's name get's dropped and mechagodzilla's remains are in someone's custody.
>Monsterverse will continue to have Godzilla in it as long as Toho and Legendary keep this partnership.
How long does this partnership intend to last? As fun as it is, I'm kinda tired of them being the face of Godzilla and Kong.
As long as money keeps coming in.
The release of movies and projects may drift frther apart but is seems that Toho is please with having an extra revenue coming in while they do their own Godzilla Projects. Just dont expects a Japanese Godzilla movie to release the same year as a Monsterver Godzilla film/feature.
I know they will keep them coming with Toho because both parties are satisfied. But I wonder if they want to do something with Godzilla like in KotM because it sounds like he more or less repeats his role from GVK and he's no less antagonistic so again the story from KotM gets put on hold because there aren't even any of the other monsters he commands.
KoTM didnt do as well so Legendary is keeping the Monsterverse films as Godzilla & Kong films to increase the likelihood of bringing more parties in.
I want the partnership to last longer because I just don't know if Toho has a coherent plan about what to do with the IP.
Toho has to approve what Legendary does with Godzilla or related characters. So if you see it, they approved it.
>Legendary is keeping the Monsterverse films as Godzilla & Kong films
This is gonna grow stale fast if Legendary doesn't think of something beyond it. I'd say after this, they got one Godzilla vs. Kong left before people stop caring.

I'll be happy if they only make one more movie after that (would love more but one more after GXK is fine too) but the biggest one so far. Mothra and Rodan need to return and Godzilla needs to be shown again the way he was in his last solo film so he can have a larger role. The villain can be Destoroyah, see how many people whine about it. At the end the surviving monsters rest and chill after the battle and humans chill too and all is ok. The end. After that they can just keep that version of games, comics etc.

Likelihood of more Toho monsters being added is highly unlikely, you can thank KoTM for that.

I don't see the connection. And it's unlikely that anyone sees it because there is none. Maybe KotM underperforming (due to its marketing campaign and release date) made it definitive that there won't be any more stand alone movies, definitely not for anyone other than Godzilla and Kong. But the movie did do a lot better afterwards and is still the most popular among fans. Maybe not the casual audience but honestly wha'ts most popular among casuals depends what's the most recent one.

Purchasing the rights to other Toho monsters require more money and increases the budget for potentially demising returns. Studio Execs would rather just make an OC monster instead that feels the same spot.
The Big Five was the fan favorites, KoTM under preformed so that means no more monsters from Toho.
Just bring Ghidorah back
More possible than more Toho monsters since they still have the rights for him.

If they had rights to all monsters they've already purchased they would show up more in other media. In the comics none of the other Toho monsters get mentioned by name (because the narrator is Godzilla and he uses the "real" names of the monsters as if translated from his language), Ghidorah is like a vague shadow but we see his gravity beams, Mothra is there in spirit but she's barely visible so it's debatable if they could get away with it legally speaking. Neither has their own trademark at the beginning of the comic.

You can only do so much with Kong, arguably MV Kong isn't even Kong, but Kong in name only.

Toho monsters didn't give mainstream audiences any reason to go to the theaters.
What we know for sure and what's confirmed is that besides Lanky there's gonna be an even stronger second villain and it would make sense if he fought Godzilla. That way Godzilla and Kong can fight their respective "evil selves" and Godzilla is still shown as being stronger than Kong as it's been confirmed.
Godzilla singlehandedly beat Scar King in the past and locked him with his group away.
Shimu is Scar King's only real weapon against Godzilla.
>Legendary is keeping the Monsterverse films as Godzilla & Kong films
This is gonna grow stale fast if Legendary doesn't think of something beyond it. I'd say after this, they got one Godzilla vs. Kong left before people stop caring.
Next film wont be for at least 3 years, so enough time to like other stuff clear the air before another G&K film.
How's the writer's strike affect this movie's release?
Movie is in deep post production, so unless the actors or writers throw a huge enough fit to postpone the film, it's still coming out on time.
Kong will end up leading a pack and exploring his home whatevers. The leaks didn't say anything about Godzilla and I know Wingard doesn't care about him (maybe he used to care) but I'm still curious to see at least what they're suggesting is next for him. Other than show up fight and go to sleep but that's just waste of IP at this point if they keep it like that. Will he catch a debilitating disease and start dying? Find a hatchling of his own species to adopt? Will some of his monsters rebel against him? Will he and humans begin closer cooperation like Serizawa wanted? Will he go mad and become evil? A beach episode? Anything?
Well I'm ok with new monsters. Even the most classic of his villains started somewhere. Shimu sounds pretty interesting even if he's based on a rejected Toho monster (not Bagan). I think that if we know they toyed with the idea of introducing Gigan and one of the writers openly admitted that they'd like to bring in Anguirus I'd say one more Toho kaiju won't be too much to add to their budget if it's just one more.
This new kaiju is white, has crystals, freezing powers and is massive so he definitely does resemble someone from the past. Maybe more than one monster but one stands out.
I want Gamera in the Monsterverse, and I want it to play out as an inverse of GVK. >Gamera shows up to hunt down Gyaos, who is seemingly benign and keeps to eating wildlife like deer, leaving immense devastation in his wake >Godzilla shows up to assert dominance over Gamera, who in his eyes is the aggressor against Gyaos. >Gamera actually wins, but the fight leaves him too drained to properly face Gyaos, who badly injures him. Apparently it was holding back against eating people or Titans to keep Godzilla from attacking it.
