I'm inclined to believe this because the introduction of "kid characters" is always to appeal to the youngest audience possible and always, always, always ruins whatever it is used in. However, so far the Monsterverse stuff has been Middling to Good and has survived a bunch of dumb stuff, so I still have hope.
"kid characters" have never appealed to kids. Hollywood obstinately refused to see/acknowledge this for decades but did finally sort of get the memo about ten years ago. However, cute babylike characters do appeal to women, and Baby Yoda is why we are seeing a surge of such characters. It doesn't work consistently though, sometimes women latch onto a cute baby character and make it hugely popular and sometimes they're indifferent.

We know a Toho monster, it's not clear which one at this point, was nearly in the Monarch show. What made the difference? Mike Dougherty was involved. He's the biggest spokesman for Godzilla and Toho properties working on the Monsterverse. Wingard doesn't care about any of that he just talks about it in interviews to appear as a real fan.

If you ever played the Pipeworks games, the gay Toho licensing is the reason the monsters all had trademarks after their names. They weren't licensed alongside Godzilla, they had to go through Toho to add every kaiju.

It's not exactly the same but probably influenced by it. Although, the 2014 effect was possibly inspired by the charging-up sound in GMK, which was a strong influence on Minus One.

Don't expect anything significant happening to Godzilla. No big interactions or moments. Nothing. His big payoff is that he sleeps in the Colosseum and you can be sure it won't be used as a way of telling that him and humans are cooperating better like it was hinted at the end of KotM.
The leaks say he fights a sea serpent (some "Tiamat" thing that apparently originated in the comics) and that Scylla crab monster from KoTM at different points in the film.
