First for 2014 being the best American Godzilla.
*worst American Godzilla
You literally cannot be white and hold this opinion.
BASED
have a nice day ASAP
Pretty cool, but this is my favorite scene from 2014
>AAAAA ITS TOO DARK AAAA IM GOING INSANE I NEED MY MOOBIES TO BE BRIGHT AND HAVE A homosexual COLOR SCHEME B-BECAUSE AESTHETICS
2014 is shit. Blueballs: The Movie.
It's not only best, it's the only good one.
Wrong, that would be KOTM.
14 = Very Good
19 = Very Good
KSI = Very Good (objectively least flawed)
GVK = Decent
Monarch S1 = Good

>2014 is good
posting has finally produced fruit
Why do you think your random posts are responsible for my opinion?
t. assmad he wasn't brave enough to stick up for 2014 from the beginning
why do people keep saying this?
he's from the sea
It's the only good one
The fight immediately after that scene was the best one in the movie.
You are correct.
No Millie, no watchie
Isn’t it in the new one?
>lies about giving a shit about Godzilla and about the new movie being some kind of buddy cop movie with monsters with both getting the attention and even putting Godzilla's name in the title to trick people into watching him jerking off to his self-insert in monkey form
>he'll do it again for the third movie in a row
That's a big reason I'm done with the franchise. It's not even about Godzilla anymore, and it never will be again. It's "Godzilla and Friends and their wacky hollow earth adventures" now.
It's "Kong living through every generic character's journey trope because he's some Conan or Kratos now also there's Godzilla somewhere in the movire see if you can find him"
>see if you can find him"
I couldn't in 2014. Has anyone managed to find him yet?
EZ, he's right here, middle of the shot.
>It's "Godzilla and Friends a
Kong and friends. Godzilla didn't even need to be in this film except to get more people in
>not knowing he's a disingenuous hack after his Death Note adaptation
Wingard will always be a kinomaster for making The Guest. No one will ever change my mind. It's rare for a movie that good to come out in the modern day.
We don't need another thread of this pozzed troony homosexual DEI woke liberal groomer pedo commiefornia goy slop.
kong was always woke and proud
wish I knew. he has a couple short scenes here and there, but they remind me of those moments in sequels where a character from the first movie appears in a short scene that's clearly shot someplace else, and you know the scene is just there for the trailer and not because the writer/director actually wants him to be there
Haha, cheers, anon.
Where is my homie Rodan...
>wrecks
He ended up on his back while Ghidorah was on his feet instantly.
HE MEANT TO DO THAT!
ROL DEEP!
>that smirk
Kotm was so cool
kotm could easily be saved with better editing. they should release a directir cut where they cut all the quips and make all the kaiju scenes uninterrupted
absolutely not
but it did finally do Rodan justice
k-kino. its like ghost rider flick where just one scene is sick and the rest is dogshit
Ghidorah > MechaGodzilla > Scar King > Skullcrawler > Mutos
Use Destroyah homosexuals, you already used the oxygen destroyer
Bagan before Destoroyah.
Just finished the film bros. More Kong than Zilla, but still really fun.
Who's on the screen there? Is that a preview, or is that Kaylee Hoddle in her Hollow Earth dress?
nta but i think thats the trailer of shyamalan's daughter's movie
I don't know who are what that is, but rock on, brothers.
That's a preview. I guess I can give spoilers if you guys want.

Monkey fights Bigger Monkey
Godzilla feels like a side character
Mothra gets deus ex machina'd back to life
Overall 6/10 movie, not bad, but not as good as GvK
Also Scar King laughs at Kong for his fake tooth in the same way a black man laughs at another for his fake js
>Mothra gets deus ex machina'd back to life
Anon, Mothra always come back from the dead. And this isn't even the most ridiculous way she returns

I feel like we need the director of KOTM back. It had the most Kino scene's like Ghidorah on top of the mountain with a cross or Godzilla and Ghidorah in LA when all the thunder comes down.
All the director has to do is not do camera cut aways that people hated.
GvK and GxK is becoming more and more goofy and arcady. I liked to watch it but killed the entire realism monster vibe when they fight eachother without gravity
KOTM was the best one, because it actually took itself somewhat serious and the monsters actually felt awe inspiring. The new ones are entertaining in their own right, but they're so silly and goofy that Kong and Godzilla just seem like a joke.
I just want that reverent, apocalyptic tone back.
Yeah I 100% agree with you. But pretty sure we are getting the trilogy of Godzilla and kong so doubt we're going back to KOTM style any moment.
>Godzilla got his gf back
>Kong took SK's abused wife for himself plus a jr
That monkey has low sexual market value he's lucky to even get sloppy seconds.
One more rotten review will tip the RT score to rotten. Will the audience score also be lackluster?
No, it won't. It's not the type of movie to get good critics reviews. Some get the convention some can't help but to compare this movie to Minus One like morons.
Still frick Wingard for sidelining Godzilla. I hope he catches the plague before he gets hired for the third movie.
So I am downloading a 50 odd gigabyte release of Godzilla 1954 that was released in Japan a few months ago. So I don't get it. I got the Criterion Gojira 1080p remaster years ago and it looked nice. This is a SDR only FLAC dual mono release and given children have the capability to consent and the original negatives of Godzilla 1954 have been lost or destroyed long ago, what source are they using for this new release? Could they really be just upscaling the same source AGAIN and cleaning up grain and imperfections? Thank you!
Enjoy your fast_and_furious.wmv, anon.
Lol no. It's a new verified 4k release. You kids pay for this shit over and over?
>and given children have the capability to consent
I'm sorry, what?
Esl? I think I am being quite clear.
I forgot to mention it was a 4k release.
Is it true? Is the movie confusing?
>I'm a woman who knows frick all about kaiju movies
>here's my opinion
Why is rotten tomatoes like this? They hate everything that it just simple fun.
Anon, that reviewer is clearly from "Movie Mom." You do know how Rotten Tomatoes works, right?
>You do know how Rotten Tomatoes works, right?
Yes they h8 everything that is good and fun.
The movie is simple all right, but not fun.
>top critic
More like top moron. There's Some monsters on the hollow earth and there's some on the surface. It's not that hard to follow.
OUR HEROES!!!
and rodan is there i guess...
Monke is really the final boss of monsterverse?
where's Camazotz?
I was really happy to see Scylla again.
I was really unhappy to see Godzilla immediately blast her into bloody chunks.
yeah that surprised me, she must have been getting uppity
I just got back from my 4pm showing. Movie was good, it breezed by but lot of cool shit happened. So glad mothra returned and got away unharmed this time.
We are back kaiju bros
Godzilla has fallen... even all the funko pop "critics" couldn't keep it fresh.
Predicting a completely split audience/critic verdict.
>Godzilla 2014 : 76%
>Kong Skull Island: 76%
>GvK: 76%
>GxK: 59%
>KotM: 43%
These movies will never reach about 80 huh?
>best one is lowest rated
lol, lmao, film bloggers are moronic
Check out Monarch Legacy of Monsters.
I mean primarily the Monster fighting type of Godzilla movie.
Godzilla minus two
Trust the plan
I didn't really like this movie that much, the melodrama just came off as ridiculous. I guess it would play differently to a Japanese audience but it seemed like the message was that the main sin of Imperial Japan was that they were too mean to their own soldiers.
I really loved it when I saw it in the theater on its opening day, but then other people started liking it too and it won an Oscar so now I hate it.
It's easily one of the worst Godzilla movies ever made and only normie morons could like it.
sneed
Such an average flick for such high scores.
Goes to show how dire the modern film industry is
It's really funny that "kong can't handle this on his own" but godzilla definietly could.
Litterally 0 signs of struggle in any fight. Gets frozen by shimo and just unthaws and ragdolls her around.
IT's Godzilla's' thing to be completely invincible
Godzilla can but won't, King would but can't.
Stupid chant ruins it
Did these release out of order? Why is the plot and scale so lame compared to KotM and the last Kong / G movie? Kind of deflating to get a donut steel evil Kong and a misunderstood ice Godzilla here after Ghidorah, Rodan, Mecha Godzilla, etc.
Those fricks don't have a plan beyond whatever project they are working on.
They're following the franchise's roots. Where was the plot and scale escalation in the Showa series, after Destroy All Monsters! and its grandiose scope and scale we got Godzilla's Revenge and a bunch of Godzilla fights goofy space monsters movies.
Stop anon, there are no good monsters in this because they used them all or can't license more. There is no grand design here.
Then why are they making these at all? You don't go from a space dragon who is even more powerful than Godzilla and can terraform the planet by itself to a dumb robot knockoff that gets stomped by a monkey.
>Then why are they making these at all?
Because they REALLY want a US kaiju franchise. Godzilla makes ungodly money in merch even when it's been a decade since the last movie. It's a money faucet that runs 24/7. They tried with Pacific Rim and failed. Attempt #2 is kong and monsterverse. They know that the monkey isn't enough of a draw so they license Toho IP to get butts in seats with the goal of developing their IP so they have to use Toho IP less and less.
They're flawed in their reasoning that Godzilla can be used as a platform for reviving 50's style generic monster B-movies
They're not doing that though. They don't know wtf they are making. They started out maybe trying to be serious but it's devolved into soulless capeshit. Showa was goofy, campy and low budget but it was never soulless.
>They're not doing that though
That's what they think they're doing which is what really matters
I don't even think they think but okay.
>They started out maybe trying to be serious but it's devolved into soulless capeshit
Exactly like the Showa and Heisei series did, and in the same three-movie span, no less.
>but toho is totally soulful!
Only if you're biased towards them. Soulless slop is soulless slop no matter how much you love eating it.
>Only if you're biased towards them.
I am because they give me feels I don't get from Us goji films.
which one's this one?
thanks
that orange suit is dope
Miss those goofy alien guns that are made out of curling irons.
I mean, many of the Showa era stuff would get absolute shit scores by critics. And let's not pretend like like there aren't more bad Godzilla films than actual good ones. Ebirah is an awful movie. I have nostalgia for a lot of the Showa era camp, but I'm not going to call them good movies like Minus One...which is actually a good movie.
>Ebirah is an awful movie.
Filtered.
Would have been better if it had been the Kong movie it was supposed to be.
shut up. Its great.
Ebirah is one of the best films in the series.
>America sucks so much at making giant monster movies it has to steal Japan's franchise
The closest America ever came was Kong and he started with a mediocre movie that got a fast-tracked piece of shit sequel and then only got garbage remakes ever thirty of forty years. Cloverfield was supposed to be America's kaiju and it bombed so hard nobody remembers it. Pacific Rim started like a wet fart and ended in a diarrhea splat. America's only claim to fame in the giant monster movie genre is the flood of laughable garbage movies it made throughout the 50s-80s.
>he started with a mediocre movie
>
>calling king kong 1933 mediocre
It's better than any Godzilla film outside the original, and this is coming from a major lifelong Godzilla fan. King Kong 1933 is a masterpiece and one of the greatest films of all time. Son of Kong is also an enjoyable flick, would be in the middle if ranked alongside the Godzilla series.
>saying cloverfield bombed
>hating on 50s monster movies
Do you just hate anything made before 2010? I hope you at least like the previous Godzilla eras.
one thing I've noticed is that there's at least one poster here who shits on Kong and 50's american monster movies because the monsters are just oversized real world animals, which is fair enough since lets face it, a good deal of the appeal is the monsters themselves. But it does feel shallow, like even they could see why they were decent movies they'd dislike them on principle.
>because the monsters are just oversized real world animals,
I prefer oversized animal monsters over the really out-there stuff. Most of my favorite kaijus are the simple Showa ones.
>like even they could see why they were decent movies they'd dislike them on principle
Yeah it's just a case of shitting on anything that isn't Godzilla. I don't get how autists who love Godzilla but aggressively hate every other monster exist. I don't know if it still happens, but I remember even seeing people shit on Gamera in Goji threads.
>there are no good monsters in this because they used them all or can't license more
There has been exactly one MonsterVerse movie since the last new/classic Toho kaiju was introduced, and this one brings Mothra back. Relax.
i think the monsters in this were fine but some were under developed like Tiamat, still great though.
Yeah I'm curious what movies people have been watching where they stopped using Toho monsters.
People just ignore that Mechagodzilla was in GvK, even if he isn't my favorite design. They also ignore that King Kong vs Godzilla and King Kong Escapes exist
I like the face and arms of Legendary MechaG but I'm not as into the Bayformers body, and he should've been silver instead of black. It's an okay design but nowhere near as good as the Toho ones.
I wish Toho got to do more King Kong flicks like they want to. He was going to be in Destroy All Monsters but their license ran out before they started production, and there were plans for a Heisei Godzilla vs King Kong that fell through. King Kong is supposed to be a recurring part of the Godzilla franchise, he just got fricked over repeatedly like Bagan did.
What's especially sad about GvsK Mechagodzilla is that Ready Player One stole its "The first American Mechagodzilla" thunder and even did it with a better design. And Ifukube music, even.
New Empire gives us a Showa-style tag team of Scar King and Shimu in the style of Gigan and King Ghidorah, or Gigan or Megalon, or Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus, which all came long after the solo threat of King Ghidorah on his own. Scar King's threat isn't that he is all-powerful, like Ghidorah, but that he commands an army.
I laughed when Kong used the baby ape like a club and smashed it into the 3 adult apes with zero hesitation
The part where he just slugged the other ape, KOing it, that was yelling in his face kinda got me too.
I fricking LOVE how Kong wasn't all sad dad from the start. He doesn't like people fricking with him
Hollow earth is such a perfect place to bring back megalon please legendary i'm begging you
All I ever wanted was Hedorah, Biollante, Destoroyah, Gigan, and Anguirus man wtf are they even doing anymore
You got the money needed to buy each of them individually?
b***h they're richer than all of us
They want people so badly to care about Kong so they have some kind of control over this Monsterverse ship. No one is here for Kong. Godzilla puts asses in the seats and it visibly bugs the shit out of them. They don't have the formula either so even in their wildest swings, their movies don't hit like Toho's.
It's down to 58 on RT, Kaijuchads... is it over?
>Kaijuchads... is it over?
Not as long as Toho is making movies.
They really blew their load in King Ghidorah too soon.
If the next movie Toho does is a Monster battle movie yes.
Minus One raised the bar and Legendummies are still in denial of this
The fact that 3 of the 5 Monsterverse movies all got 76% is amusing. Lel wacky Showa highjinks nearly killed Godzilla in Japan and now they are killing it here. Maybe they all need to take a hint that the only Godzilla movies that are seen as legitimately great are the ones that deal with a focus on Human trauma/Politics.
This is Godzilla's lowest point between critics and Audience....
That's my favorite Godzilla movie.
I love MireGoji
the Japanese version is great, the american dub is shit and most likely those scores are based on the american version
just got back, it was better than i thought it would be, my only crit is that they didn't destroy the Jesus statue
would Godzilla really fit in the Coliseum or did they shrink him for those shots?
The scale is accurate.
RT down to 57, how bad do we think the audience score is going to be?
87%
I think 85%
In terms of audiences scores that's pretty bad. Could translate to a B or B+ cinemascore.
sub 80
It was fun but the music is still a downgrade, specially compared with KOTM music
Bros...why don't critics like Godzilla fighting movies? Onlly the slower paced Godzilla movies score well...
Final Wars' problem was it was The Matrix Meets Independence Day Meets Return of the Jedi Meets Dragonball Z Meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers with guest appearances by Godzilla and friends.
i never even finished it cause the xiliens were so ridiculous
They don't know how to have fun and enjoy giant animals punching each other. If a kaiju movie isn't a Nolan-esque metaphorical analysis of mankind's nature and penchant for war, they aren't interested.
I don't think a lot of critics even watch them. I think the highest reviewed on by critics is Destroyah and it's sitting at 100% but only 8 reviews.
Final wars human plots is fricking terrible and I say this as someone who loves some of the most middling Showa film's human plots.
It's just another 2000's Japanese wacky action movie wannabe Takashi Miike shit that were a diamond dozen back then. They can be fun but in this case it detracts from the monster stuff you're really in it for, and I'm sure it ate into the budget too.
Reminder that it was directed by the guy who's most famous for making Matrix rip-off movies.
Final Wars works better as AMVs
Why no godzilla porns yet?
I have a few pics in my folder. No, I don't collect porn just Godzilla pictures. There's not a lot of porn anyway mostly fluff.
No I mean live action.
Today i watched kino https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plHa0yJWVE8
just got out of my showing. as a godzilla die hard i honestly feel like this movie shouldn't have had godzilla at all, or at least not as a central figure. while i don't find kong as a character nearly as much, the story here is really his and big g just sort of deflates the the tension by being such a power house. kong, fricked up on the back heel having to find a way to defeat skar AND shimo would've worked a lot better and the story wouldn't have had the awkward mid point where kong suddenly gets an upgrade and goes to the surface to recruit godzilla. I also feel like pulling back on godzilla here and then making the next flick more centered on him would've been a good move to bring the series full circle.
that said i do like godzilla here and his scenes with kong are a lot of fun, if not pretty sparse. it, like a lot of pop art movies, feels like it needed a bit more time for the full story it wanted to tell, but at 2 hours its kind of stretching its welcome. was really surprised how much i liked skar as a villain too.
I only had three real problems with it; Monster action is floaty, human scenes are just exposition (rather have that than bad drama though) and geography makes no sense. Like we see Godzilla leap from the rock at Gibraltar then the next shot he's in the Nile. Aside from those, it was alright. I like Kong in these movies and the dynamic between him and the rest of the apes reminded me of Planet of the Apes but worse. Skar King and Shimo were better than what I was expecting. Shimo reminded me of Titanosaurus but with the ability to shoot ice. It was okay.
>reminded me of Titanosaurus
Does anyone comment on Godzilla sleeping in the Colosseum? Like do they speculate why he does that or do they say something about the relations between him and humans after GVK?
It's just supposed to be funny. There is no meaning
He returns there at the end so it may have some meaning.
He thought it was comfortable so he went back. It's really not that deep
He's got his lair and the whole world, many islands, caves etc. I wonder if this stinger has double meaning like it shows Godzilla's becoming more gentle.
the colosseum was the comfiest ancient ruins he could find after his were nuked
Monsterverxirs..
SHOTS FIRED
To be entertainment, like all other movies. If it didn't entertain you, too bad, go watch something that does entertain you.
>nooo why are the monsters fighting? where's the socially relevant commentary??? i don't understand!
Ok I'll say it. I extremely dislike every godzilla after godzilla raids again to just before Godzilla 1984.
From 84 onwards was all pretty good but the 60s and 70s godzilla was a backwards childish kids acid trip. There I said it.
>the 60s and 70s godzilla was a backwards childish kids acid trip.
Perhaps I was unclear. It evoked no fear, took a dominating force and made it infantile and silly. Quality of the suit and scenes did not rise with new higher quality filming. It was just a really really messed up time that was laughable and hard to get through. It castrated Godzilla and became a mockery that lasted through the 80s and 90s. I was there. Everyone made fun of those movies. It was sad and pathetic. I am glad they got back on track for 1984.
>It was just a really really messed up time that produced unrivaled kino
God damn that movie was funny.
I like the part where Scooby Doo and his pals go tell the government about the wienerroach aliums and they hand over cases of explosives to these literal nobodies so they can attack the alium base.
The early 60s is the peak of the series and isn't particularly childish, unless you consider most Heisei and Millennium movies childish as well. They're just 60s sci-fi films.
>saying "cringe" like it's a word like "cringed"
Kids go to bed.
Kong is literally the star of the show in this movie
This movie sucked. Plot was nonsensical and meandering, you could cut the entire first two thirds and not miss anything important (the villain's plan is literally not revealed until like half an hour before the movie ends). Human characters suck, writing sucks, screenplay sucks, the whole thing is extremely contrived and reeks of Marvelshit. Kong's quiet adventure with Suko through hollow earth is the best part, probably because this was originally supposed to be a Son of Kong movie before it got rewritten. Like you can literally see the scenes where Godzilla was spliced in after the fact, the CGI for his scenes even looks more rushed than Kong's. Godzilla loses the Kong rematch and only gets the upper hand because Kong spared him (yes I am a seething wojak).
And for what is supposedly an "all action movie" the fight scenes are surprisingly underbaked, Scar vs Kong looked like a videogame cutscene and the final battle is extremely short and anticlimactic. Literally like a dozen favelas get destroyed and that's it.
4/10 watching random titans getting roasted was mildly entertaining.
>Godzilla loses the Kong rematch and only gets the upper hand because Kong spared him
Are you talking about the fight in Egypt? Godzilla was literally about to murder the frick out of Kong until Mothra intervenes.
Kong could have caved his skull in if he wanted, he only lost because he didn't notice the charge up while he was dragging his unconscious body to the portal.
It didn't feel like Kong or Godzilla was close to giving it their all in that rematch. Kong just wanted to get him in the hole.
Great movie 8/10. Final fight was way to short and Godzilla needed more screen time.
I like how much character they're giving Kong. It really makes the limits on what they're allowed to do with Godzilla that much more annoying.
Being into Godzilla for most of my life and aware of the online fandom since like 2003 and discovered Barry's temple of Gozilla, there's some trends I noticed
>Heisei was held in high regard in the early 2000's when they were still new in the US and we had only started getting everything after Biolante in 98
>getting Gojira internationally released uncut in 2004 was a huge deal. I actually remember a high school textbook even had an article on it in media analysis
>Sometime in the late 2000's, online opinion pushed for Showa to be reevaluated, around the 2010s it was pushed more that Showa was better than Heisei and Millenium better as well. GMK basically considered the "second best"movie after 04
>late 2010s, Heisei once again more popular. Showa not taken as seriously except in an ironic way, Millenium outright considered a disappointment, Shin Godzilla basically the second coming
>2020s, Showa again becoming popular through younger fans discovering it, Heisei feels more the more hardcore/over 25-25 fandom considers the best, Millenium is pushed by a smaller but dedicated group as one of the greatest eras, currently seems to be a backlash on Shin after Minus One came out
Now feel free to call these observations bullshit and it's just say anecdotal evidence doesn't mean shit, but I have seen trends
You never were on USENET were you?
Nope, a bit before my time, I had internet access since like 99 but I was mashing the word LEGO in the urlbar and seeing where that got me. First experience with fandom besides fansites was neo monster island which is how I discovered Cinemaphile
I think I came here from WWOEC or something. I don't come around much but 12chan is gone and altchans are a post and see ya a few days later so...
I liked Heisei as a kid when they came out on DVD, but as an adult I prefer Showa.
>currently seems to be a backlash on Shin after Minus One came out
This is just a continuation of the need to tear down previous films to prop up the newest ones which is what happened to Showa when Heisei came out, and is now happening to Heisei any time a Millenium fan posts on here
kind of wild to think that in the same span of time between Shin and Minus we had gotten most of Heisei and almost two times the span of the Millenium era
I greatly prefer the method of putting out a movie nearly every year and occasionally having one of them be an all-timer. Granted they're sort of doing that now, just split between Toho and Legendary
To be honest I think Shin is the more compelling movie, not that Minus One is bad or anything.
Eh, it can be simplified. Heisei had bias in the early 2000s when people were finally getting access to those movies. But I recall even back then they were being called out for having too many laser battles. There's always been tribalism over the different eras, I've always been into Showa the most.
I remember getting gojira in 2004. I think it was on alt.binaries.multimedia.dvdr or alt.binaries.multimedia.dvd-r. I still have it. Also, yeah. It was good. Had more scenes. On my progressive scan DVD player with component output to my 36inch Sony Trinitron TV it was pretty cool.
I wanna frick Godzilla!
Threadly reminder that Michael Dougherty's Godzilla king of the monsters 2019 brought all the woke garbage and troony homosexuals to the monsterverse.
What the frick does wanting to frick Godzilla have to do with politics
You're on one of /misc/'s sister boards, everything has to do with politics.
Why did they make Mothra sexy?
Interspecies degeneracy.
Friendly Reminder, wanting to frick godzilla started at least online around 1986 in my godzilla group. I am godzilla from Easynews.

Want to have a really fun time? Watch a reaction video to Filmcore's various Godzilla and Kong comparison/evolution videos and see just how ignorant, stupid, and plain moronic the average nufans are, especially the ones whose first experience with the franchise was G2014. Mind your blood pressure while watching them.
Exposing myself here but a user on the Godzilla subreddit says he found a copy of the lost 60s Indian kaiju film Gogola and that he sent it to a company to get it released on Blu Ray. Very big discovery if he's telling the truth.
There are big discoveries all the time. London After Midnight is being found every month.
I hope this is legit, and that they actually find London After Midnight someday.
Me too, I didn't think it would ever be found.
Maybe someday they'll find the original Korean version of Yongary, only the English dub still exists.
I want to hope
Just saw the movie. I refuse to believe this is the same Godzilla from 2014.
If you can believe all of the Godzillas from Counterattack to Terror are the same Godzilla, you can believe this one is the same one from 2014.
I don't, I know adult Minilla is the Godzilla from Terror of Mechagodzilla
You're incredibly stupid, because the last movie in the universe timeline is Destroy All Monsters!.
>I know adult Minilla
Minilla was still a child then. Terror of Mechagodzilla takes place before Destroy All Monsters.
It's not unbelievable, Legendary Godzilla has been a hero from the beginning. The tone hasn't changed as much as it did in previous Godzilla eras.
In this movie apparently he'snot very heroic until Mothra appears and he suddenly gets all soft.
Like they even made him saving Rome look bad?
Anyway, after Egypt Godzilla gets to be nicer and at the end even treats Shimo kindly when she's released from Skar King's power like he wants her to take revenge. Wait, isn't Skar King responsible for everything bad that happened in Godzilla's life because he started the war?
Sadly it is, but morons here will just cite Showa's change in tone as an excuse for the Monsterverse's downward spiral into this slop. God damn I wish these movies retained the actual realism with the time period they are set in along with the tech.
Heisei did the exact same thing, dude. Started dark and somber with 1984 and by vs King Ghidorah we had three cat-bats merged into a dragon by nuclear radiation and time travel and androids and a script that didn't take itself seriously.
>Showa's change in tone
It's not just Showa, it's every era
>godzilla 1954 to movies like king kong vs godzilla and godzilla vs megalon
>the return of godzilla to movies like godzilla vs king ghidorah and godzilla vs spacegodzilla
>godzilla 2000 to movies like godzilla against mechagodzilla and godzilla: final wars
The changing tone is one of the best parts of Godzilla, and I would have gotten bored of the series if every movie was exactly the same.
Even Godzilla 1998 went that route with the series the moment they had aliens arrive and giant robots
People use the dropkick and whatnot and use that to say "THE SHOWA ERA WS NOTHING BUT GOOFY MONSTER FIGHTS"
While dismissing the heart and legitimate thought that went into a bunch of those
The Showa era is the best overall. There's been no Godzilla director greater than Honda, and Fukuda was also very talented.
I don't dismiss anything, but we should remember that Toho geared Godzilla towards children more and more as Showa went on, because they became the largest market and because Toho kept slashing the budgets for every movie.
The children era (aka the festival era) only started in the 70s. 60s Showa (and the Mechagodzilla duology that ends Showa) are different than the really silly movies like Hedorah, Megalon, and Gigan. The 70s movies are also good and the only downside is the stock footage use in Megalon and Gigan, I'd rather watch them over some of the later movies.
It's so weird how some festival was seen as the most profitable option. A movie like Godzilla vs. Gigan would serioulsy just play for one day as a part of some large theatrical event for kids? No wonder they started bombing.
I haven't looked much into the festivals, but it does seem like a strange decision. I know Japan was investing less into their film industry as TV was becoming popular, so that played a part in the switch from old-school Showa to festival Showa.
It has serious moments, but it's also one of the silliest in the entire series. It's probably the most superhero-y Godzilla has ever been, he both flies and actively works with humans to fight Hedorah. Hedorah is a very strange movie tonally, but a large part of the film is silly (and that's a good thing.)
No it really isn't. It's dark, psychedelic, and dreary
It can be funny as hell, but it also feels like hell.
>It's dark
>dreary
It's dark and dreary in some scenes. In others there are fish people dancing and Godzilla is a flying superhero.
Son of Godzilla is also a silly movie, but there are genuinely creepy scenes with Kumonga. Not only does Godzilla change tones within the franchise, it changes tone within movies. That's part of why I like it.
psychedelic imagery to connect the film to the counter culture of 70s Japan is not the same thing as the goofy stuff going on in Gigan and Megalon like Atlanteans unleashing a giant beetle monster because they're butthurt at surface dwellers. it shares almost no similarities with those films nor Son of Godzilla. it's a borderline horror film
Godzilla's character and the way he fights in Hedorah is the same as how he acts in Gigan and Megalon. Son of Godzilla acts a bit grumpier because that's earlier Showa Godzilla.
Hedorah isn't silly
i like how every reply completely missed your point
2014 was a movie about giant monsters fighting. what else is it about? the military losing a nuke? the secret organization that tracks giant monsters? Yes thats very realistic and grounded
>what else is it about?
A bomb disposal expert who boasts about his bomb disposal skills for 2+ hours and then as soon as he's presented with a bomb he can't dispose of it.
Real Twilight Zone plot there.
>Imagine if you will, the greatest bomb expert they could find, stopped dead in his tracks by thin sheet of dented metal. This is the final countdown, which also happens to be, the Twilight Zone.
Yes, what if these kaiju showed up in our world. I was hoping it'd remain that way, not creating some portal hopping vehicles and giant mechas.
Ummm times have changed chud this isn't ten years ago the audience has different demands now
What are your thoughts and opinions on the Godzilla vs Kong vs The Justice League comic?
How long is the actual final fight for people saying it's short? In GvK the final fight between Godzilla fighting Kong and GxK vs Mecha was around 10 min. In KotM it was around 7-8ish total. And in KI, the final fight between Kong and the Skull Crawler was 5 min.
It goes for a lot of shorter fights instead of having one long one at the end.
Length-wise, it's probably comparable to Godzilla & Kong vs. Mechagodzilla, but it's better in I don't remember there being a single cutaway to the human characters during the fight. Maybe there's one? But the entire runtime of the fight is pretty much all kaiju.
Its 2 minutes long
X GON GIVE IT TO YA
When are we getting Godzilla x Mothra?
They are getting it themselves in their free time.
You better be right or so help me God
I mean it's not something we should expect them to focus on. It's just a running gag or tease.
frick off
calm down, child
>He doesn't like gijinka
gay
correct and i don't like you either
>not waiting for a proper BD release to play on your PTHC HTPC in DTS or Dolby Digital Surround Atmos.
Bunch of kids here...
I thought Godzilla's species got into a war with Kong's. Not Godzilla by himself? What the hell were his kin doing? Getting raped by Mutos?
What's the idea that the war was about the apes vs. just one Godzilla? Then where did Kong's axe come from? And the throne room? And all the skeletons? No, it was a full scale war.
GxK said it was just Godzilla warring with the species during the exposition dump.
We know even from GVK that it's not the full story. The war involved many monsters at one point or another. The prophecies and myths don't have to be taken literally. They are symbolic.
Frick it I took it straight from the subtitles for GVK.
462
00:25:48,000 --> 00:25:49,000
The myths say that their ancestors
463
00:25:50,000 --> 00:25:51,000
fought each other in a great war.
So myths have their extended versions it seems.
Of course eventually our Godzilla would be the main top dog if not leading the survivors then being the last one standing.
We all know those Kongs didn't make a dent with Gojiras. Them frickers got parasitized.
You just now realized that the monster'verse' has no consistency from sequel to sequel, let alone within its own movies?
It's the most consistency the franchise has ever had between sequels.
moron
>forgetting that the humans in the heisei era go from grounded to batshit insane time travel and robots in 3 movies
>heisei is the only era that exists
Did Showa and Millennium have more consistency? Millennium movies are completely disconnected from each other, and Showa movies range from 1954 to vs Megalon. Canonically there were Seatopians enjoying their life while Japan was being attacked in 54.
The Kiryu movies are basically one single movie, even with the original Mothra included it's solid. Then you have most of the Heisei, even 1954 and Raids Again. Then there's the Anime Trilogy, which is also like one single movie. Seems you're confusing 'tone' with 'continuity'.
MvG -> GTTHM -> Astro-Monster is more consistent. i win
That's not a full era, it's just a chain of movies within an era (and arguably also includes the standalone Mothra film and King Kong vs Godzilla.) If it was considered its own era then it would be one of the best.
Tbh it is weird that Showa is seen as one era considering it spans decades, but I guess it's because they're all in continuity with each other.
the original post said sequels not eras
The Monsterverse as an era has been consistent outside of 2014. It's like Heisei.
Now that's just plain wrong.
>spend half the movie getting to hollow earth after talking about how dangerous it is
>nope just dig a big hole in thirty seconds lol
The Iwi prophecy Rebecca Hall reads about the ancient war that the Great Apes were defeated by "him," not "them." Although I suppose one could argue it meant that Godzilla was the only survivor of his side.
The change in tone isn't the issue. It's that what we're given is getting worse. Tone? If it's good it doesn't matter. But they're not. Man, I liked the King Of The Monsters visuals but you couldn't pay me to sit through that shit movie again.
Is b***hzilla a side character again?
Yes
Can we all agree that Godzilla's Revenge's OST is awesome?
One of my favorite Godzilla movie themes and it's not even original to Godzilla. Same for the American opening theme of King Kong vs. Godzilla.
>watch Kong go on a (generic) hero's journey
>Watch Godzilla act like a spastic c**t
Thank god for minus one. I'm not expecting high art or anything but if you watch the original Godzilla or Kong Kong they had least had something to say. This is just mindless garbage
Godzilla was justified in his actions. He can be exonerated. And after Mothra gave him a dressing down he became far nicer to everyone.
>after Mothra gave him a dressing down
Why is Mothra stripping Godzilla?
It's a kids film don't expect anything but softcore erotic scenes between the characters.
Godzilla act like a spastic c**t
Godzilla was preparing for war with the apes because he could sense Scar King was active.
Rotten Tomatoes showed me the audience score for a second, it was 90% Verified Audience with 100+ ratings.
Is it true? Did they do Shimo dirty? At least tell me she lives.
It ends up as Kongs horse
I don't think they did. They portrayed her sympathetically (even Godzilla and Kong understood her plight) and she lives to fight another day.
You ever wonder what it would be like to sex a muto?
